I came into this game with low expectations as the game has already hit the bargain bin and was deemed a bust overall, but when I began playing the game I tried to forget everything I had read about the game and I decided I would start from scratch as if I never even heard of the game until that moment. This games greatest problem was not the developer or publisher's, but the market's which I know is uncontrollable, but this title came out in between some truly great games like Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: World at War, and Fallout 3. Therefore this is obviously going to be a forgotten title destined for the $10.00 bin.

The overall gameplay left something to be desired, but provided a decent experience with a well developed campaign and surprisingly great online play(if there was a community for it). The campaign introduces you as an Atlantic Alliance(essentially futuristic America with a hint of Europe) soldier in a civil war against the Pacifican(essentially futuristic terrorists who use bio-engineering to create super Soldiers) Army. The War takes place in the year 2161. There are three "missions" overall, but the missions are extremely long with each taking up to 2 hours depending on how devoted you are and what your skill level is. The online play has many variations including: Capture the Flag, Kingmaker, Excavation, and Break-in. The only problem with this was for the hour or so I attempted to play online I found one other player. This game also featured a huge variety of weapons including: TDV-1(vehicle), ST-4(rocket larencher), IFR-19(grenade launcher of sorts), Dragon's Breath(turret), Mole Mine(mine launcher), Lodestone(vortex gun, Scorpion(high powered sniper rifle), Raptor(basic sniper rifle), Invader(shotgun), Bulldog(assault rifle, ALM-37(freeze ray), Bangalore(rocket launcher), Pacifican SMG(SMG...duh), Rhino(creates a homing ball of destruction...seriously), and finally the Black Widow(grenade launcher). THe game features a variety of grenades as well to go with your natural ability to mend the Earth. The four grenades each bring a special ability: vortex grenade engulfs enemies and terrain in a mini blackhole, spike grenade brings a spike out hte earth sometimes crushing enemies, and the final two create a small hill or a small ditch depending on which one you use. Those last grenades are essntially a long range variation of your character's natural abilities(LB lowers, RB raises).

The graphics were very subpar, I've seen playstation one games with better graphics. The smoothness of the game is what surprised me the most as there was essentially no lag time during the game, but loading levels was a enduring process. Another key problem which was the inability to skip videos as these videos were never short some ranged from 5-10 minutes it seemed. The storyline was good overall and the entire game intertwined with itself very well as there were no parts where you had no idea why or what you were doing at any moment. Overall I think this game is worth buying, I enjoyed every minute of this game excpet the frustrating, seemingly unbeatable boss at the end, that most can only beat when using the glitch, but that is another story.

I managed to pick this up for $15.00, and for any of you gamerscore colelctors out there this game is any easy 600 gamerscore if not more. If you are like me and enjoy buying one or two mediocre games every year, I recommend making this one of them.

Final Rating: 6.7 (Relatively Good)

I didn't forget about it. It's just one of those games where you think it's a good idea at the time and you convince yourself it's an ok game. Then later after it wears off you realize you wasted your $30 or whatever it was. I did this with games like Soldiers of Fortune, Timeshift, and Dark Sector. Luckily it was rented, a demo, or free.

I think this game is worth $15.00 as was Timeshift when I got that for $12.00, not every game has to be one you'll play for years. These two are perfect examples of quick fix games you'll beat, enjoy a bit, and move on. Nothing wrong with that so long as you don't pay too much for them.

Wow, did you really say you've seen PS1 games with better graphics? My hyperbole meter just went haywire.
