Picked up a 32" Sanyo LCD yesterday at Walmart for only $447. I love it so far. I was going to go with the Vizio Plasma for $437, but the extended warranty for the Vizio is $120, while the extended warranty for the Sanyo was only $20. The huge price difference tells me that I probably won't have to worry about it burning up anytime soon.

Also, the TV has 2 HDMI, 2 Component, 1 Composite and 1 VGA; and it supports up to 1080i.

Anyway, I've been researching these deals for weeks, and this is the best I found. Best Buy has a 32" LCD for $399, but it's a Dynex. So, it all depends on whether you trust no-name brands or not.

Target has some decent deals from time to time:

32" Magnavox for $449. http://www.target.com/Magnavox-32-720p-LCD-HDTV/dp/B001262W9S/qid=1232438721/ref=br_1_1/191-5258322-4825621?ie=UTF8&node=10666911&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=target&field-browse=10666911&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=2 (http://www.target.com/Magnavox-32-720p-LCD-HDTV/dp/B001262W9S/qid=1232438721/ref=br_1_1/191-5258322-4825621?ie=UTF8&node=10666911&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=target&field-browse=10666911&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=2)

then there's this 32" Philips 1080p for $550. It is 1080p despite it saying it's 720p. I bought it for my bro for Christmas and it displays 1080p, check the reviews for it and several others also mention that.

Thanks guys. I think I'll look into the Sanyo first. While I try not to support Wal-mart, my sister works there so I get a discount =/ And I'll probbaly pick up the extended warranty since it's pretty cheap and RCA ruined my trust in electronics.

I have a 32 inch Vizio plasma but it seems some people are having problems with those. Honestly at this point any TV can be iffy in the long run. If I had a lot of extra cash I would probably go Sony still.

Why was there such a huge price difference for the extended warranty? Is Vizio that bad?

Is that Magnavox at Target any good? Anyone have any experience with it?

One more question for any Sanyo owners. Have you had any trouble? After reading the reviews, I was a bit sketchy. It sounds like some people had a color bleeding problem, primarily red with some greens as well. But is that just a defective unit? I know more people like to complain when something doesn't work rather than when it does work. Can bleeding on a TV occur over time or will it just happen or not? And then on top of that, my sister said that Sanyos were the number one returned TV in her stores and that didn't really make me feel much better. But I still like the TV a lot with its pretty solid 4-star review average, but I don't want it to be a recurring problem and have to get a new unit every so many months.

I just purchased a 32" Sony Bravia XBR6 for under $800 at CC on Friday, the day before the liquidation started. I went in there today and it is back up to $1,200.00. I caught last week's sale at the perfect time. The TV is awesome! I finally hooked up my PS3 to it.(along with the 360 and the Wii) Everything looks awesome. 4 HDMI inputs. Look it up.

Not true. Although TVs like this one can accept a 1080i and 1080p signal, it still is only a 720p TV. It just downscales those signals to it's native res. This particular set is indeed just 720p.

A Sony would be great! Unfortunately, I don't have the extra $200-400 to shell out for better quality, especially when I'm planning on buying a PS3 in the near future.

So does anybody have any experience with Sanyos or color bleeding? Still have time for more opinions, as I still have this gigantic SDTV with no place to put it until I get it repaired and sell it to make it someone else's problem or get rid of it after a lawsuit.

I wouldn't really call a Sanyo a real name brand either...

I would say it's a little more reliable than Vizio. And judging by those extended warranty prices, Sanyo would seem to outlast Vizio. They wouldn't charge only $20 for an extended warranty if they had to fix every one they sold.

But then again, what do I know? If my TV goes out, there will be a lot of bitching and a lot of lessons learned. :bomb:

EDIT: Also, all these reviews mention bad color. But I just use auto adjust, and it looks great. :/

Well, I just returned my 32" Sanyo. I grabbed a 37" Sylvania for $498 instead. Great so far. Big. :D Sylvania isn't that great, but it's got to be on the same level as Sanyo. The only complaint I have, is that the speakers suck. People say that all HDTV speakers suck, but that's no true. The 32" Sanyo had speakers twice as good as this.

EeveeFanboy
01-30-2009, 02:14 PM
Was there a problem with the Sanyo, or did you just want a bigger one? And yeah, I don't think all speakers suck. I rather like the Samsung's speakers, but obviously they don't have all the bass I'd like, so I use my stereo when I really want to get into it. I'm hoping to get a surround sound system at CC in a month or two if they still have any, and then I really won't care :D

Target has this on Sale for $649.00. It's more attractive if you get the card with 10% off or you have a relative who works there who may use their discount:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Bravia-KDL-37L4000-37-Inch-720p/dp/B00171V6CM

Seems like a nice enough to be, but with only 2 *real* inputs, if you have several devices and no Receiver, you'll run into a big headache right away. Why would they do that? It almost forces you to buy a receiver or selector right away.
