Would you buy more Live content if space were not a factor? [Mobile/Archive]

This has been troubling me for awhile now.

I have been to the point, for a while now, that I pass up on a lot of things I would normally buy on Live if I had more space. However, I feel somehow morally opposed to actually GIVING Microsoft extortion level amounts of money for more space.

I really believe Microsoft should offer either free or heavily discounted hard drives to people that spend a lot on micro transactions through live. It would only benefit them. But I'm sure Microsoft has considered this and decided against it for now, as well.

Saturday I wanted to buy the new BSG episode in HD. It's 1.3 GB. I found that if I deleted absolutely everything but my XBLA games I'd have exactly 1.3 GB of space. I said "screw that", and didn't buy it.

What are others thoughts? Would you spend more money on Live if space weren't a factor?

Like SpazX, space is not the problem for me. The price, on the other hand, is. The absolute max that I will pay for ANY downloadable game is $10. If I don't own it, then I'm just renting it. And I refuse to pay more than $10 to rent a game. And there are very few games on XBLA or PSN, etc. that are even worth those $10.

Yeah, there should be a 'No, I don't buy 'extortion-level' prices on Live content' option in your poll. For a lot of people, space really isn't the problem. It's the cost. There's a lot of stuff I'd buy on Live if I didn't think the prices reflected their true value. Even if I had an arcade and space was an issue, I think my first priority would be buying a hard drive before buying Live content.

Space isn't the issue. Transferability and cost is.
I also have absolutely no intent of ever paying for video or audio content on Marketplace, just game content.
I definitely think there's a revenue opportunity with MS in upgraded hard drives.

had 360 since launch 20GB, and only bought 1 arcade game.. SSFIIHDR

got a bunch of DLC but still have 4 GB of space left, even w/ 3 gig of video content..

yes things are too expensive for me.. and bein cheap, plus not bein able to ever resell your games is a big downer for me, unless you sell your whole account off w/ HDD

I don't install games/download much because of space. I would get a larger-than-my-20-GB-HD, but they're too expensive. I wouldn't mind spending $60 on a 120 GB HD, but not $100+

I've been sitting on 3800 pts for a long time, have 120GB so space is not a factor.
Nothing really worth buying. I would however buy every Halo DLC.

Yeah, they need a new Wii. With HD output and maybe a 20GB solid state hard drive. Only if they made a new Wii it would take until hell freezes over TWICE to find one on a store shelf. Fucking Nintendo still can't get them in stores, insist it's because the system is so popular, yet I only ever met two people that owned one and both traded them in for PS3s.

I'd say it's both cost and space for me. I'm down to 2.3GB on my 20, so my options are becoming limited without an upgrade.

I'd buy a lot more if some of the DLC content price was lowered. I'd probably buy a lot more Adult Swim content if they didn't charge the same price for a 10 minute episode as another channel charges for a 48-53 minute episode. $2 for ATHF vs $2 for CSI doesn't make much sense when you compare the length of the content.

I'm going to have to go with what the others are saying. I have a 120gb drive, so space isn't an issue. It's just many things are priced horribly and I don't want to pay them.

Price and not being able to resell digital content is what prevents me from buying more DLC (Fuck you Penny Arcade for raping your rabid fanbase!). Even though I only have the 20gb HDD, I still have lots of room. And renting movies off of XBLM is pretty expensive. Especially now I can watch Netflix on my console.

my problem is the licensing....i'd buy a lot more if after I bought it I didn't have a time limit to watch it in and that I didn't have to worry about shit expiring. I want to download it and have it on my 360 forever.

I believe that only applies to movies. Everything else, including TV shows, you get to keep.

This is correct. The 360 is the way I watch most of my TV shows for the quality of picture/convenience of being similar to a DVR as I don't have pay TV, just a digital tuner in my small LCD HDTV and an antenna.

I didn't vote in the poll because I've had the 120GB HD since they launched it so space is no issue for me.

I only buy points when they go on sale and I have the 120 gigger. The main limitation *I* have is INTEREST. I just dont give a rat's ass about most of the stuff they have on their. I can get any movie I want from BlockBuster and I dont like very many TV shows that arent already readily available on the 'net.

I buy eclectic XBLA games (e.g. Braid), some casual games, Rock Band trax....and that's about it. I wish they would come up with more XBLA games that arent standard twin Stick shooters / beat 'em ups / re-makes of games I played as a teen. For a space fit for taking a risk, it sure seems like companies are playing it awfully safe!

I have a 120 GB hard drive and I rarely buy anything on the marketplace. It's mostly because of cost, it's horrible that a map pack with 3 or 4 maps costs $10, that sort of thing should be free and if anything developers should be charging for full fledged expansion pack with a dozen new maps, new weapons, vehicles, etc.

I don't know, I guess I'm getting spoiled by Valve giving us constant free updates to Team Fortress 2. I've been moving more and more towards PC gaming since I feel less ripped off there, with games costing less, having free official content, official expansion packs that really add to how long you play a game, and tons of free user made content.

I'm down to >500MBs on my HDD. I have 6000+ MS points in my account. I wouldn't say I'd buy more stuff from the marketplace if I had more space. I think I'm more likely to pull the trigger on games I play for only a couple of days -- Geometry Wars 2, Sonic, Bomberman, etc. -- if I had more room.

I make smart purchases now! :D

I have a 120GB HDD, but almost filled it up with the new download disc feature. Cost is still the biggest issue, especially on that crap Konami pulls with DDR and Karaoke Revolution where the content is already on the disc, and you're merely paying to unlock it.

Now then, the Wii SERIOUSLY needs more space. I've only bought 6 games and it's nearly full. Heck, some WiiWare titltes take up almost a third of the hard drive by themsevles! At least MS gives you a very expensive option of more space.

All KR songs DLC are available on previous versions of the game. I am working on getting all the PS2 versions (Just need Party and Country).

Doesn't Wii take SD cards? Those are frickin cheap! Just buy another card when you fill up.

I had 49 Live games downloaded on my 20 GB and still had no issues before upgrading to a 120 GB. Space has no impact on my purchases at all.

The problem with the Wii SD cards is that most games don't read and/or directly save to them, so you have to migrate data back and forth whenever you need it. More importantly is that you can't save VC games to the SD card, and the WiiWare games are memory monsters. It's like the Sega CD memory cards all over again! *LOL*

I used to have all the KR games for PS2, but they were all stolen when my apartment was robbed. I still have Xbox KR Party and that one had almost every PS2 song available to download as well.
