If I'm not mistaken, the Assault Weapons ban ended today. Stock up CAGs, because I smell them thar damn governmen fixin' tah crack down again!
In all honesty, I wanted to know how others felt about it. Do you want your Assault Rifle? *Edit*DAMN YOU FILTER!

I thought the law was hilarious when I realized I could have an AK47 I just couldnt have a magazine with lots of ammo.... well I could just buy several small ones to make up for it though I guess.
The problem with the law originally was that it's just to wimpy and not well defined enough. it needed to be rewritten. But the real problem is that it dosent stop the crimes it was designed to because all the really dangerous guns are in the hands of criminals that would have gotten them illegally anyway!

My own opinion on this:
I agree with the post above in that it was poorly written - but I just feel that it's needed. Honestly, what good does it do for a civilian to own an assault weapon.

After playing enough Rainbow 6 on Xbox live, I think i can handle one, and I'm sure if they saw my 3:1 kill/death ratio, they would forgo any waiting period that may apply.

Yes!!! Now all those assault rifles I inherited from my family that are hiding in my attic are legal again! Whoohoo!
Seriously, I wonder how many people who legally owned assault weapons before they were banned and made illegal ever got rid of them. I know my family didnt.

It doesn't affect me in the least.
I'll still go hunting with my 30 ot 6 and Winchester 30-30, but I have no burning desire to go pick up an assult rifle.

That doesn't make sense... The AK47, or the Automatic Kalashnikov design of 1947, was the brainchild of Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov, member of the Red Army.
Commies wanted AK47s.

Actually I believe those would have been legal anyway. It only prevented the importation and sale of new weapons, existing ones were still fair game.

I love firing fully auto weapons. I've never owned one, and since the ban I was doubting I would ever fire one again after my military duty was over. Now that the ban is gone, it's something to look in to.
