I ended up doing Safari on Proffesional single player, and yeah the computer helps 10 fold when you're doing the motorcycle part, but once you do that damn boss monster the computer becomes dumb as shit haha. :(

Yeah, but I had to get a person to join in to do the boss, otherwise it's extremely hard having to multimanage the dynamite throwers, the cross bow guys, and the boss at the same time, since the computer ignores those guys.

I'm getting this game tomorrow and I had a couple of questions. First off is the only fun way to play the campaign online in co-op or is solo fun as well.

Are there any CAGs who want to play co-op this weekend sometime that wouldn't mind starting at the beginning?

i think single is ok, especially if you are a beginner, cause if you set sheva on attack, she will pretty much show you the way, or you can explore while she is killing enemies. the only draw back is the ammo.
As ive been advancing through the levels, i can tell co-op should be more fun than single player. but thats only if u know what you are doing and where you need to go.
i wouldnt mind helping, but i want to finish the game in single first.

i had to play solo first too. its how ive always played re games and even though this isnt your typical re game i felt it was a necessity. once i get some of my weapons fully powered up and beat it on veteran ill try out the online co-op.

Only 2-3 more levels left, and we're done with Pro!

I hated that Jill fight -- dying some 22 times in that level left a bitter taste in my mouth. So I guess my accidentally killing Jill during the jewel struggle did add to the counter. ;)

Playing with someone competent definitely removes the frustration associated of playing with the AI. BostonCollegeFan doesn't shoot me in the back too much. ;)

It probably would have been a more enjoyable experience if I had first experienced the game in coop, as opposed to knowing every nook-and-cranny as we started doing Pro.

And I don't think the DLC is out yet... Although I believe you can play Mercs cooperatively.

I picked up this game last night and plugged through chapter 3-1. I must say I'm very impressed. I LOVED RE4, and although I don't think this is up to snuff with that I am really enjoying it and find it hard to put down. I'd like to find some cags to play co-op with and build my weapons up when I'm done. Is there an active group of players in here that do co-op? Also is it possible to use my weapons and items even if I'm invited to join or just join a random game?

Anyways off to see if I can knock out another chapter before I need to pass out.

i just finished the game, and replayed the first chapter. im going to try out the mercenaries game. I have my magnum almost fully upgraded,and it so powerful, i cant put it down.
Maybe the guys with more experience would be able to help all of the noobs (me) go through expert levels once you are done.Especially with the later chapters. Thanks.

Jill was a pain also when I played, but I actually had a lot easier time when I played with AI. I simply kept grabbing Jill, AI shoots the device, throws, but I don't attempt to pull it off. I repeat about 7-8 times then have Sheva grab Jill then I attempt to remove it.
I did it to avoid the QTE to avoid her counter because I mess up half the time >.>

That's impossible, you have to fight him on a turret...
He's the Giant guy who throws boulders and swings at you while you're in the truck shooting at him with your machine gun.

Then it got weird because in the Jill fight the prompt to resuscitate never came up and they just died right next to me while I'm mashing the circle button to revive. So we decided to pull out the first aids again and manually heal right when my partner ended up in dying status, which ended up working out rather well.

Wholly crap -- I'd be pissed. That mission clocked in at 40 minutes, but I'm positive that doesn't include the time over the 22 deaths. :bomb: It would take a whole lotta incentive for me to even consider doing that level again.

For this one, i equipped my grenade launcher and a ton of rounds, then gave Sheva one of my infinite ammo guns and a bunch of random stuff (so she couldn't pick up healing items). Then I went to 2-1, and stood in a corner and shot the wall. Everytime i "died" she would heal me, and I would thank her. I ran out of rounds before i got the trophy, so i ran out the door and set off all of the trip mines.

For The Works, just throw a flash grenade at a Big Man Majini, I think it works on normal and up for you to get the 3 hits needed.

1) Empty your inventories for both characters and put first aid sprays in each slot. Go to stage 1-2 (on Veteran), knife the transformer until you get down to orange health. The CPU should run over and heal you. Thank after each subsequent heal. Do this 8-9 times. Easily done.

2) Stage 2-1. The part after the truck comes after you, there should be a bunch of crossbow Majini. Kill off the ones with the melee weapons and then back up and get ready to knife those arrows. Make sure your CPU teammate doesn't have any weapons or he/she might kill them off. Load up on the sprays on your CPU partner though.

For the Works trophy, there's another easy place to do it at the beginning of 2-1 right after the first crossbow guy. The shipping containers make a little hallway with a single majini in it and for whatever reason the AI will always run past him to the other end of it and face you. At that point it's relatively easy to shoot him in the arm and start the combo.

@diddy310, Magus, & Bavgate thanks for the help about the trophies. got the teamwork and the crossbow one right on 3-3. took out the gunners and waited behind the walls and knifes an arrow. while I did it I got hit and sheva sprayed me and the trophy popped up also. :)

I will go for the works trophy when I start my professional run sometime later this week. and after that one the only other annoying trophy left to get will be the lead aspirin one.

Not sure, does it even let you get the Platinum now since the patched in DLC trophies count towards your percentage? I think the Professional difficulty/War Hero one is a platinum as well?

Hunk died? (when did this happen? i need to study my Resident Evil lore) Well, like in any work of fiction, fan favorite characters tend to die hard. Following characters all have came back from being supposedly dead in one fashion or another: Sherlocke Holmes, Gouken (aka Shen Long), Zero (Mega Man), Wesker (Resident Evil), Bison (didn't Akuma kill him in Street Fighter 2?), Ada (Resident Evil) and Goku (like over 9000 times [sorry for using overused meme or whatever you call it]). It seems Capcom has a good history of bringing back dead characters, so I'm crossing my fingers for Hunk and Wesker (did Tofu die? it be awesome if they pop him back from the freezer for dlc)

Me and Phoenix did the 2-3 fight tonight and it took us like 13 tries to do it. The best way to do it is to get someone on the internet to help you with it, as the AI is too dumb to realize there's a molotov guy that can kill you in two hits.

I had this problem as well, and thinking it was the difficulty doing this I would curse occasionally at the screen. Then I figured out that it would flash only momentarily sometimes because i was tapping the fire button when the QTE appeared which caused it to do that. So every time the QTE popped up I would stop shooting or hold it down while I hit the right QTE button. After that, I never had a problem with it.

you have to look for the signals as far as what shes about to do. he pulls his arm back a certain way when hes abut to do the qte punch when you see himdoing it stop shooting so you can see it and then do it. also when ti comes to shooting the bow guys and the fire bomber in between shooting the monster if you stun it ( where it kinda lurches back a bit )hurry and shoot the other enemies on the screen.

its mainly the qte punch and those damn long range attackers that make that hard to do. took me 5 deaths on professional. dont forget to use the exploding barrels to your advantage too.

For us it was the grab/run at you because the game would randomly throw them in when you can't block it. The QTE punch I think is the easiest and best part of it because it's always Square or Circle, and it allows you to cool down the gun, wheres all the other attacks don't.

AI Sheva is ridiculous with the Magnum as well, the only time i noticed her missing at all was on the 5-3 rotating elevator. If you want her to use the longbow, its best to have that be her only weapon, although I gave her the M37 maxed out as well and she'd switch off once in a while.

You must have been using Sheva right? Just tap the fire button to keep the barrel spinning so when you need to shoot you can avoid the startup.

Aside from the Ndesu insanity, I felt like the hardest boss in all difficulties was the 5-2 Oroborous, at least it always seemed to take me the most time. I actually really liked it because its a big throwback to old Resident Evil bosses, the original Tyrant, Nemesis, William G3/4. Just you, him and a simple room.

hold off on upgrading some weapons for a while. especially the rifle. waited till i could get the best one and then started upgrading it. its a damn beast when you get it fully charged. same for the second shotgun i dont get why people like the hydra so much that one shotgun is way stronger than it is. it takes alot of money to get them juiced up though but its worth it for the right ones especially if you plan on playing pro mode. i finally beat that this past week mainly becaise i maxed out that one magnum.

I was playing last night and I finally unlocked the unlimited rocket launcher. It helps so much on the 6-3 wesker boss fight. (especially on pro)

ok last things I have to do.

The ndesu fight is easy with the computer. My friend and I were stuck on it for about an hour before we decided to skip it. The next day we both went back to it seperately and managed to knock it out within a few tries.

It's not on the disc. The 2mb download contains an extra music loop and some coding, but those aren't on the disc itself. The extra game modes use resources on the disc (Mercs data, mostly), so it doesn't need to download any more. Also, Mercs is multiplayer online also... just not competitive. And that's free.

And no. You cannot move and shoot in multiplayer.

I will say that I enjoy Versus a lot more than I was expecting to. I figured it would be crap, but it plays a lot differently (and should) than traditional competitive shooters.

you dont really even have to use the rpg. the main thing is to attack him when he doesnt see you or isnt looking at you directly. the rpg speeds things up but if you have a fully upgraded hand cannon or rifle those work just as well. just be ready to move in on him once he drops down. that part of that fight can be over with pretty quick.

2-3: Make sure you play as Sheva. I don't think you can win as chris. All you need to do is worry about hitting him when he's about to attack and taking out the zombies. It might take a little longer than you'd like- but Chris will eventually target all of the parasites by himself.

5-3: If you have the rocket launcher- you can finish wesker pretty easy (and in my experience, Sheva and Jill don't factor into that part of the match. For the Jill fight- stay up stairs- she'll run up the stair to your right- and you can start knocking her down. Once she is down, stand at her feet and get ready to do the action- Sheva SHOULD run to the other side of her right before she stands up and grab her immediately (I did it 8 times in a row on my game). You have to shoot the chest thing 7-8 times- Sheva will comment on it when it's time.

I'd hold off on upgrading the shotgun until you get the M3.

Sheva seems to default to the pistol if she has more than 1 weapon- so if you want her to use a particular item- only give her that gun (although I have seen her change weapons in attack mode).

i agree with the m3 id also wait till you get the sig 556 machine gun and the H&K PSG1 rifle and upgrade the hell out of those. in the end youll have to upgrade some weapons to get other weapons unlocked to further upgrade those. it took me like 2 and a half runthroughs to get all my weapons upgraded fully. getting infinite ammo is a bitch though.

you dont combine gems but some of them can be hard to find especially if youre looking to get the treasure hunter trophy. i think the body armor is crap especilly when you play on pro mode. i guess its supposed to work but i cant tell any real difference. depending on what difficulty youre playing on you wont need it but id suggest giving it to sheeva since she can be kinda dumb.

You can go ahead and sell those treasures. There is no combining of treasures in RE5 and you don't need to have all of them at once for the Treasue Hunter trophy. You just need to have had each of them once.

As for the body armor, it's helpful in all modes but Professional (to an extent). It can make noticeable differances. In Pro, almost every hit will put you into Dying state, however, the correct armor can sometimes leave you with a sliver of health, so you can heal yourself. It's random though and not too reliable. I say it's worth the slot.

There has not been much info around the "Directors Cut" Alternative version of RE 5. Magazine Famitsu got to interview the RE5 producers to get more details. Here is the interview paraphrase and translated:

Capcom came up with the name "Alternative Edition" because the term "Complete Edition" didn't seem appropriate when considering the adequacy of the original package.
Capcom wanted to place the new content in the original release, but felt that the game was adequate already, and wanted to get it released soon.
When the original game was released, players expressed their desire to play as Jill.
Capcom originally proposed to make the new content downloadable, but there was too much content for that.
The game begins at the entrance of the Spencer Mansion featured in the flashback of the original game, but fans of the original Biohazard will certainly love the new content.
The Spencer mansions in Biohazard and Biohazard 5 are indeed separate.
The game is intended for the PS3 Motion Controller. The series' combat system warranted the addition of the motion controls. The game uses the Dual Shock 3 to move the characters, while the Motion Controller is used for attacking and other functions.
All the DLC content for the original release can be enjoyed on the Biohazard 5 Alternative Edition disc. Players can play with or against players of the original Biohazard 5.
Owners of the original can transfer their game saves, trophies, etc. to Alternative Edition.
Capcom is thinking about adding new costumes and game modes as well.
The blood in the main hall of the mansion symbolizes that an incident has occurred, and gamers will understand as soon as they step in what that incident was.
The original Biohazard was a game that did not have a cooperative aspect to it, though Biohazard 5 Alternative Edition will have it in spite of their similar environments.
The behind-the-shoulder camera will be used, although if you noticed from the screenshots, there are no enemies present…
When asked whether the enemies with be majinis or zombies, with regards to this chapter, Capcom is making preparations for the type of enemies to be included, especially since the setting is Spencer's mansion, with him actually living there.
Capcom believes the game will have the types of rooms and locations fans are expecting.
Takeuchi finished just Jill's episode in 1 hour and 40 minutes, but that is because he is an experienced player. New players should take around 2 hours the first time. Of course, this isn't the only new content being included…
Capcom understands that there are varying tastes for the Biohazard series up to this point.
Players who both played through Biohazard 5 and have yet to try it will enjoyed Alternative Edition. Capcom would like buyers of the new PS3 Slim to try the game out, as well.
Capcom is preparing the Xbox 360 version in a different form, and asks gamers to wait for more information on that in the future.

I believe in-store, they charge either 19.99 or 24.99. Either case, I have an EDGE card, so take 35% off, and it's right around $15-$17. I dont do the gameshare thing, so that's out of the question. I doubt I'll buy the costume packs though, so subtract $4 from the $19 total, and I'm left with $15 for DLC. That, combined with the $15 or so for the game would put it right around or slightly above $30.

I think I'll do that instead of paying $50 for the Gold edition.

You have to have the Gold edition to play with Move. They didn't release a patch for the original game because it wasn't developed with Move in mind and apparently is unpatchable to implement it.

Yea- that's what it looks like, I just wasn't sure. I was reading about it online everywhere I could find and it had not been mentioned, but strange enough- either had the Move support.
