Well, just a second ago, this crappy headphone splitter broke off inside my front headphone jack and now I can't use it anymore. I have tried, and tried, and tried to get it out, but it will not come out.
I ABSOLUTELY have to have headphones because the computer is in the living room and someone is almost always watching TV or doing something else that they want quiet for.
So, what options do I have? I have a Creative X-Fi card, but that doesn't have a headphone jack on it. Is there an adapter or something that I could use?
If not I will most likely need to buy a PCI card or something with a headphone port on it, right?

Your card should have a jack that works with the headphones. Just use the same jack that works for speakers (if it is color coded I think it would be green). That's how I'm using mine right now since the front jack has a bunch of static.

Don't your speakers have a headphone jack. Mine do. Or do you have one of those monitors with built in speakers.

Thanks so much, for whatever reason I tried all of the regular ports except for the green. #-o
Thanks again man!

I also have a problem with a green audio out jack.
The other day, I suddenly got these SoundMAX popups asking me to calibrate a new input device (I don't have a mic). They would popup every few minutes. I checked a box to auto-correct the issue and then my rear output jack stopped working.
Now my speakers are connected to the front jack and everything works just fine.
Anyone know what the problem could be? SoundMAX being a jackass, or physical failure of the actual jack?
Thanks.

I know your problem is now solved, but for future reference, USB headsets exist that come with built in soundcards. I recommend Plantronics sets; I personally use the .Audio 770.

Have you tried opening the case and trying to remove the stuck piece from the inside? If you're just trying to pull it from the outside it may not work but it might be an easy fix if you opened the case
Just a thought
