Guys, I'm becoming more and more curious as the success of a game when it's released, even years down the line, so the question I have is whether or not someone has a site similar to boxofficemojo.com, but meant to track game sales? How often have we wondered how successful one of our favorite games is?

I know I have. So does that site exist?

I think the NPD is the only one to track game sales right now. If I recall correctly you must be a member to get any detailed info.

This site has US and European game charts as well but it is not updated as often.

I didn't seem to find much good info at magicbox, but I only browsed a bit. But you're right, it didn't look as if it was updated that often.

mojoman, that was exactly what I'm looking for. Too bad the site is extremely difficult to use (mostly the overbearing text). It'll be tough to find a specific game, though. They seem to list the top 100 and I'd have to manually search for the rest.

I'm not looking a gift-horse...link in the mouth or anything, just hoping someone might have a more....thorough English translation. :)

I wonder how many people bought BOTH Madden and ESPN ?

Wow, an all football top 5, good to see that sales are improving for ESPN.

Hey, that's really awesome, but does Wokk only report the sales montly?

And I assume the sales are for that month or is it that week?

Again, a little closer to total thoroughness, but it's still difficult to find older games' sales, not just the current top sellers.

He (or someone else) only posts monthly sales figures.

Don't suppose there are any others?

Those numbers would explain why developers and publishers are moving more towards PS2 and XBox; and saying KMA to GameCube.

I wish there was a site that told how much old games sold.

Darkpaul

hiccup just said it. If there was such a site to show old games' sales and figures as well as the new ones, that'd be best.

But I guess that doesn't really exist?

I think it costs a lot of money to get the NPD sales numbers.

I hope not. I just find it interesting and definitly reassuring when one of your favorite games has sold well, giving a good chance for a sequel. Oh well. Maybe this will give somebody an idea, eh? hehe.

Hey, if cheapyd even noticed this topic, he might agree :)

From now on I will post the sales numbers from Gamefaqs if Cheapy does not start to get the NPD numbers, so you should be able to find out the numbers no matter what. :)

You guys have to remember that NPD is not entirely accurate. It misses things like Walmart etc. Which being the largest retailer has to account for some sales. My guess is it would account for a larger portion of Gmaecube sales also due to the demographics and mentality of walmart.

I was surprised to see Manhunt at Walmart when it released. They wont even carry an "unedited" music cd.

Reggardless their sales count and they are not counted by NPD.

Suiteness.

Has cheapyd said he wanted to post info like that? Where would he post it if he did?

Snake, why is that? Why would everything else be counted except for one of the largest retail chains in existence?
