How does Amazon pay you and how are returns handled when you are the seller? Do I have to pay the shipping fees when the buyer wants to return an item and will I get the 15% commission fee refunded?

New to amazon as you can see. I'm more of an eBay person.

Edit - One other question. If I list something on Amazon, can I take it off whenever I please?

Amazon can be a great place to list/sell your items. It is unreal sometimes though how prices can be so different between ebay and Amazon, so it's best to look first and find out which venue would be better.

Amazon pays through checking account. No other option. You will not be paid immediately. Your first sell has to sit for 14 days before you get the funds. Thereafter, you can request disbursements once per day.

I haven't had to do any refunds, so I can't comment.

You can take items off Amazon any time you'd like. It's even better that Amazon doesn't charge a listing fee immediately.

Finally, the 15% fee is a misnomer. You actually get hit by three fees based on what you are selling: the 15%, a flat commission based on the item category, and a listing fee. For a $20 video game, these fees actually amount to about 30%, but you also get $3.99 in shipping credit back.

Once you know what you're doing though, Amazon is a quick place to sell things. I listed four items last Friday, sold one within 15 minutes, another later that night, one Saturday morning, and the fourth Sunday afternoon.

EDIT:

The fees are here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=1161240

Listing fee: $0.99
Commission fee:
Commission rates are as follows:

Amazon Kindle = 15 percent
Automotive parts and accessories = 12 percent
Camera and photo = 8 percent
Cell phones and accessories = 15 percent
Computers = 6 percent
Electronic items = 8 percent
Items in the Everything Else store = 15 percent
Musical instruments = 12 percent
Watches = 13 percent
All other product lines = 15 percent

Closing fee: check the website. The table doesn't copy well. For games and books it's $1.35. Movies $0.80.

I've sold about ten items on amazon so far. I like the fact that you really don't lose anything if your item doesn't sell but amazon takes you from behind for a cool 15%+ once things do sell.

I've found some seemingly ordinary games that sell for low prices on eBay but for some reason people will fork over 4x the amount on amazon for them.

Oh and you will probably only receive feedback 1 out of every 5 items or so. I've gotten feedback on about 80% of my sales but that's only because I somewhat hounded the buyers after the sale.
