Because of a loophole in the Consumer Product Safety Inspection Act passed in August children under 12 could be banned from libraries for fear of lead poisoning.
Yeah I wish this was a joke. I don't doubt this loophole was deliberate. Now we see what the people behind the Green Movement, in the shadows, what they have done to pervert it.
Right now there's a year moratorium on putting this into effect but in my opinion that's not GOOD enough. This needs to be sealed up right now and recognized as the absurdity it is.
I'm frankly shocked NONE of you have posted this yet.

seems very very unlikely, also seems like they could close the loophole relatively easily.

Do 11 year olds have a habit of eating books?

If banning under 12s from libraries will stop lead children, I'm all for it!
Damned lead children. I fear them.

Yes they could but I doubt they will. This is what the shadows behind the Green Movement want.
To everyone else, click the fucking link and read about it.
FOC I'm not disagreeing with you but look at all the stupid shit we print on products now due to lack of some people having any common sense.
Imagine that this banning could happen for the same ridiculous reason.

Let's play a game, people. I think you can figure out the rules as we go.
X Y is X.
X = unfounded, bizarre, pointless, weird, batshit crazy, or paranoid?
Y = fear, assertion, blind accusation, or sensationalism?
Having said that, what the hell?

Sir, I honestly lol'd from this comment. Thank you for that.
Another sign that the majority of people in our country are completely apeshit insane!

Pull it out already! This isn't sensationalist if you read the info from the link and know our legal system. It's also not unfounded. Read the fucking link for crying out loud!
edit: I think BigT is one of the few here reading between the lines. WHO got BigT banned by the way?! X-(

Look read the link for fuck sake. It isn't just that site either. My local news station reported on this, that's how I found out about it originally.
Nice try ducking addressing it though. I didn't go trolling for this like level1 did or pull it from Infowars.com or www.newsmax.com or www.worldnetdaily.net or .com .
Stupid shit has happened before because way too many people let it slide or don't stay vigilant enough when said thing pops it's head up again. Case in point for the latter explanation is the bank bailout nonsense that gave a blank check to the Treasury with no oversight to my understanding.
edit: Let's see what happens when that one year moratorium is up. Will people rear their heads and really protest or silently bitch about it?

You fools fail to see the genius behind this plan! Think about it, kids try to smoke, drink, get into clubs, and gamble before they're of age. So if we add an age floor to the libraries, then kids will see it as a romantic place, try their darnedest to get in before they hit 12, and when they hit 12, they'll act like it's some "cool" place. I say they should go further and add some bouncers to the front to check IDs and randomly stop people from entering because of some obscure fashion trend that changes every second.

Banned? I'm in somewhat of a stupor (working long hours and mourning the Cardinal's Super Bowl loss...) but last I checked, I'm still allowed to post on forums and to go the the library... ;)
