Anyone have a problem when upgrading their hard drives? My brother tried to switch out his hard drive tonight and it gave him a message along the lines of needing to download the latest version of the firm ware for the PS3. I've tried googling this issue and haven't had any luck. Any suggestions? Thanks fellow CAGs.

It's been awhile since I did this, but I believe I had the same problem. If I remember correctly, all I had to do was grab a spare flash drive and put the update on it. Insert flash drive, and everything takes care of itself. You can download the update below.

hmm.. thanks for posting. i'll see if we can take advantage of this information.

my brother was going to try to download the update straight to the hard drive he is installing, but i have doubts it would be this simple.

i found the solution on Sony's site. I'm surprised more people haven't had this problem. I couldn't find any reference to this except for 1 forum post and what sony posted.

My HDD swap was a nightmare and I still occaisonally get the "Cannot Start Correct Hard Disc Not Found" error. It's annoying because I have to get up and physically power it down and back up. It usually takes one power cycle to go away, but it's annoying none the less. Not as painless as they make it sound. (Not to mention the FAT32 formatting)
