So I was bored at work and just started thinking about gamers. I know any gamer worth his weight in games has prob hurt a thumb or got a blister playing games, but I was thinking about when we all get to our parents ages and even older. I could def see some chronic arthritis of the thumbs from continual video game play. Just like Willy in the Simpsons from Space Invaders, in the Who Shot Mr. Burns episode. I am not saying it is goin to happen, but I do think its def a possibility. Whatcha think?

We can just get insurance so when that happens we can just get some plastic thumbs that'll never break. We'll become bionic gamers.

Oh I think we'll all be on so many pills by that point that another few to "ease" the pain won't matter.

I'd be proud of video game thumbs.

I think I'm already starting to experience the start of something bad in my hands from holding down the R trigger on my Xbox version of Burnout 3. After about an hour, it feels like my wrist has been set on fire - good stuff. Why those EA bastards didn't include a controller config is far beyond me - I mean really...how hard could that have been? Perhaps I should call my lawyer and get the preliminaries of a suit rolling over this. *snaps on fake cast*

I agree, what makes it all the more frustrating is that it was configurable in the 2nd game...it just seems like a step backwards.

Also, you'd think that with a saved profile it would remember that I turn off the EA Trax everytime I log on, why not just leave it that way...?

Back on topic...I doubt we'll still be using controllers for our games in 30-40 years. I have seen the future my friends, and it is the U-Force:

Yeah, I've experienced wrist burning. Mine goes back to the days of Goldeneye. :D

I have to say your new avatar and sig are a step down, Trakan. But my computer's named Zero so I'm heavily biased.

Yup. I'm all for becoming a cyborg, especially if video games are involved.

I am your parents age and all I ever got was blisters and a small gash in the forehead from a piece of shattered controller which I smashed on the floor after a devastating last play Madden 2002 loss. I should of blitzed. It still pisses me off.

Wow, in your fifties already, eh...? What do you do, just rub some Aspercreme (http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jhtml?PRODID=4346&CATID=100079) on your hands after an intense gaming session...? I'm telling you man, U-Force 2: The Next Generation is the Revolution Nintendo's hypin' for next E3...

I should of blitzed. It still pisses me off.

Don't worry...at your age you're memories should only last for 5 more years tops...

Arthritis in the thumbs is a definate possibility, especially because of the sticks that became the norm with N64/PSX gen. But in reality, it's kind of like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Measures can be taken (in this case pretty much common sense) to save a lot of wear and tear...

You will BURN in eternal hellfire for not respecting your elders.
