Looks like shitty deals from Best Buy for rewards zone members will continue as a trend, because of two factors: 1.) People taking advantage of the reward zone deals and abusing the system, like buying multiple copies and giving out phone numbers so others could use there reward zone card. 2.) Circuit City there biggest competition is out of business, they have no one challenging them anymore.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately I think all the good deals are behind us.

Well there biggest competitor is now Amazon. So I hope that they will come into realization and try to step it up again. But thanks to that last debacle I doubt it will happen.

Sad

I have to say, that while those last 2 deals for the $10 games (Midnight Club, and 007 QoS and the others from a few weeks ago) were terribly abused, Best Buy really did it to themselves by allowing people to buy multiple copies of each game. By allowing that loophole in the computer system, or at the very least not noting it was limited to 1 copy of each game/version per customer, they allowed the rampant abuse to happen.

But yeah, don't expect to see great deals again, or at least, they will be very rare. Sort of like the amazon DotD...

Last week wasn't bad - $10 Ninja Gaiden DS, Tecmo Super Bowl, Samba De Amigo - but yeah, this week blows. Hopefully next week will be decent again. If not, thanks hoarders!

I think personally if any store is doing promotions like 9.99 games, and Sunday exclusive only $20.00 off titles etc. (red alert, Midnight Club), then there should be no limit to how many copies you can buy, b/c the sale is what brings the people there, and if the stores can't afford to give out all the copies at those prices, then it shouldn't even offer them in the first place. Plus it says limit 3 per customer, but the real question is does it really matter who ends up buying the 9.99 game??? The same 9.99 game still sells at 9.99 no matter how many different people end up buying them. In addition, if you are not at the sale on the first day, and you missed out, doesn't that teach you to show up on time for any exclusive deals like this. So the moral of the story is we have cheapassgamer for a reason, and that is to know the deals first, and read blogs so that we know how to get around certain deals. And b/c the person who blogged on here told us how to manipulate the system, and that's why we all went out and grabbed the deal. Afterall it wouldn't be cheapassgamer if they didn't offer ways to get around being a reward zone silver member, b/c obviously we all didn't spend 2500 dollars at Best Buy this year. Plus Best Buy doesn't check ID's, in translation, people can do whatever they want with that information. I don't think whoarders affect the marketing aspect of the Company, but I think Best Buy is just having a bad week, like all stores. They all usually compete on one specific titile to draw people in. And this week, no one really has any great deals...so nothing for Best Buy either. In this case, take a break, save your money, and be prepared when the next deal hits, that you are there before anyone else.

Well if people buy multiple copies say atleast 3 or more then its pretty obvious people are buying them for reasons other then playing, like selling and trading it, which is not the intent of the company offering a great deal for the loyalty of customers.

They "allowed" the abuse to happen because they wanted to set up an easy to use system and do so without revamping the rewards system and adding more cost and overhead to them in the processes (negating any gain, considering they are were probably losing money on those "door-busters" and didn't need to couldn't really justify spending anymore on the program) and they also wanted to avoid requiring the target customer having to print single use coupons (which are one more obstacle to getting the "deep pocket" customer into the store). Basically, they underestimated the larceny in the hearts of many- because as I am observing: if something is not illegal then it's not wrong. Also, BestBuy is just some giant faceless mega-corporation and a little red-ink here and there wont sink them, right? I mean who has EVER heard of a major-electronics retailer closing after a few sequetntial quarters of attrition level losses?

Best Buy never intended Midnight Club to be $9.99. The intention was Midnight Club would be $29.99 for RZ Silver members only. They fixed it midweek, but that was after countless hoarders pillaged multiple copies from various stores. I'm willing to bet you are no longer going to see RZ deals taken off of sale prices of games (like MC3 and Quantum of Solace) and you can thank the hoarders for bringing it to their attention.

I got Animal Crossing at Circuit City last week for $30. It was the only game they had that was worth the 40% discount.
