"Urbanization of videogames?" What the hell are you talking about? Hip hop artists are huge gamers. The Def Jam were designed to be gamer's gamers first, with just the inclusion of artists. This time around, they play different roles in the story mode. I know this because I've already played the game extensively, and talked to many important people at both EA (producer Josh Holmes) and Def Jam (president Kevin Liles and Method Man) about Fight for NY.

If anything, I think games need more African Americans in them. This is a fighting game with a most-black cast, and you rip on it for that? I'm sorry, dude, but that's a pretty racist statement that you made. Seriously. Yes, it's violent, but punching people in the nuts is a whole lot tamer than dealing drugs or gory gunfights in other games.

The game industry is also trying to cash in on various movies. Chronicles of Riddick is one of those, and they made the story decent. So what if they're trying to cash in on it? Why the hell does it bother you so much? It's a fun game. It's not "rascist" to make this game.. what the hell?

Guess what? Def Jam is a black-owned company. Guess what else? The 40 celebrities who are in it all agreed to be in it. I only fought one Latino in my time with the game, and it was actor Danny Trejo. Meanwhile, Carmen Electra and Henry Rollins are both in it.

Has there been any news on a DJV 3? Since the first one was so popular and the second's been gretting good ratings, I don't see why they couldn't spend a little more money and try licensing some of Shady/Aftermath's people. That should help to increase the target audience.

The Q would be: Why isn't LL Cool J or DMX in it? I heard DMX had a dispute with Def Jam Records and won't be in this game, and I saw a roster list not listing LL Cool J yet his music is. Bah.

Anyways the last game owned, and this game will own to. I don't know whats with all the hate on this game. The last game was the closest thing to No Mercy till WMXIX tryed to mimic it (and day of reckoning even more so now) but considering this game came from AKI you really can't get anymore closer.

The ONLY thing that has sucked so far since I've seen all the previews have been that online was removed. Considering Smackdown versus RAW will be the first online wrestling game in the US, this is a major dissapointment. I'm afraid replay value will fall down alot once Smackdown versus RAW is out.

I personally don't care about online. I play single-player and that usually gives me my money's worth. I am interested to see how Smackdown vs. Raw handles online, though.

Umm...I gotta side with scrubking here. Also note: He never mentions black or white in his original post saying the urbanization of this game is horrendous. He might have been more articulate about it but I know what he means. He later explained it better for the rest of you to understand.

But I see others points and 100% agree that more blacks should be in the games but maybe them being all hip-hop artists isn't the best representation of the black community. I think EA is just whoring the hip-hop community. I can't remember any adventure games they have made with blacks as a the main character and that's just sad.

Anyways this thread shouldn't be about racists as I don't see any here.. Scrubking is rightly upset about blacks being exploited. I wonder how many EA executives are black? or even listen to hip-hop

btw-my kids are black....do you really think this is the type of game I would buy for them? The game will be played by 8 and 10 year olds only because it has their hip-hop heroes...why can't they make a game with LLCoolJ as a hero instead?

I would hope you wouldn't let kids play games that are rated T or M when they're under the recommended age limit. Theactors portrayed in Def Jam are in no way exploited, and they're extremely excited to be involved. Like I said, I talked to both Method Man and Def Jam president Kevin Liles (for interviews for various outlets) and they're pumped about the new game.

I agree that it shouldn't be a color thing, as hip hop has long since broken the color barrier, but I did find Scrubking's comments rather suspect. "Urban" has long been a marketing term for "black," and he said it like a bad thing.

Just wanted to say I played a ton of the game today and this weekend to do a review, and I love it. Story mode is excellent, lots of characters, tremendous variety, and good multiplayer. Definitely will be a highlight of this holiday season.
