Ya it was announced at $20 then people raised hell at a $5 increase so the dick developer is trying to pass it off as O I told them it can only be $15 that way the game can have a wider audience. Screw that, if he wanted the game to reach a wider audience then he would only give the game to someone that was going to sell it for $10 or less. This is a port of an XBLA game which was overpriced in the first damn place and he tried to play it off then as he is just getting his money back on his investment. Ok on XBLA I could have maybe understood....but its already been published that he has made his money back and THEN SOME so dont fucking increase prices then try and pass it off like your the hero.

Damn straight. The game should have been $5 the whole time. I'm pissed I paid $15 for it. It's 4 hours and has almost no replay value, and I didn't even really have that much fun the first time through.

$10 even would be ok but $15 for a 4 hour downloadable title is just not right.

i hated this game was a rip off.....IMO anyway all that hype around a game you can fly through in a few hours and never touch again

There's no reason to charge us more than they paid, especially with no extras. With as big of a douche as Blow is (for reasons other than all of this), I don't know if I'm going to end up buying this at all. I'd have a problem giving him money in the first place, whether he made a good game or not, but if he's charging us more for no good reason, I don't think I will.

$10 seems reasonable considering it gives a couple hours worth of entertainment...but even then, i'll pass.

I'll be getting it.
Oh.. via impulse huh..
I might be getting it.

He dropped the price to $15. Not without taking a jab at "the internets", of course (as if it was our fault he priced it higher). Also mentioned Impulse won't be the only place. I think he said three or four places, so probably Steam.

For comparison sake, Peggle has provided me with hours upon hours of entertainment...all for $9.99 (you can get it for $5 right now at Popcap). So at $15, Braid is still a no for me.

well as long as one of the places it is available doesn't have drm, I'll be getting it.

That'd be Impulse, I think. I'm betting one of the other sites is GreenHouse.

When I think that just 5 dollars more gets you TF2 this makes me sick. The 15 dollar price point is awful for quick games, Braid started it and now we have Castle Crashers and other titles following in their wake.
It's the 60$ console game all over again.

who cares if they don't have drm?

I'm just pissed at the fact they are doing an equal price for an older game port. You don't see RE4 Wii being 50 dollars at launch or something like that.
It's goofy and I shall take no part in it!

To be fair, it isn't being re-released five years after the fact. It's about 6 months.

Well I won't be paying 15$ for it either.
I'll just get some friends to split the cost with me since there's no DRM stuff from the Impulse source apparently, and we'll just share the game.

This is the reason why we are always going to be stuck with DRM, crap prices and other headaches. Way to be part of the problem.

They could just not buy the game at all...

Or they could each buy a copy or wait for the price to drop to a level they feel is appropriate. Look I have pirated games in the past so I am not so much trying to be preachy to the fact that they are sharing games, more the fact that they are doing it with one of the only services that doesnt abuse gamers. If you complain about DRM but then the one freaking service that doesnt have DRM you abuse.....then we are going to see more and more crap DRM schemes.

It's true, several publishers have used "casual piracy" (i.e. sharing a game with a friend) as one of their justifications for DRM.

Heh, I remember when sharing games with friends was considered a good thing. What, Gabe Newell agrees? :D
Valve has been using their existing customers to gain new customers. "There's no way to go into Circuit City, to pick on the dead" and get a free weekend. Ouch, Gabe. Ouch.
Valve has seen a great turnaround rate on guest passes. Friends invite their friends to play a game they already own. Game invites that also walk a gamer through a purchase process are also effective.

Guest passes aren't the same thing as sending your friend a setup file or handing them a disc. They expire after a few days. They don't give your friend unlimited, unfettered access to the game. They're used to get friends to buy their own copy, as they should.

Heh, where do you draw the line? Am I a bad person for lending console games to my friends? They have unfettered access, can beat the whole game, and never pay a cent for it.
Sokkratez

Also not the same thing. While your friend has your disc, you can't play at the same time. There's a transfer of "ownership". Sending him a setup file (which is what we're discussing here) would allow you both to play.

Agreed, it's kind of like local pirating. Luckily most games' draws these days are their multiplayer so that gets around that, but games like Prince of Persia and Mirrors Edge suffer hard core from piracy.
