I am currently looking into an apartment to lease for just one year for my final year of school at Buff State. I currently reside in a dorm on campus and usually go home on the weekends. I do like my roomates but as of late they are becoming more and more of annoyance. My bedroom roomate is like an unfixed K-9. All the guy talks about is humping anything. He literally wakes me up just to say to me he would f*ck the woman on his TV screen. I also reside with one of the RA's who runs a barbershop from our freakin bathroom. Pretty uncomfortable showering while he is cutting hair with like 12 other guys in the bathroom. Meanwhile I am preparing to go off to my job. My other two roomates next door I have no beef with. They don't do anything obnoxious, heck they keep to themselves.

So I figure, since living on campus costs just under $3000 for two semesters, it might be logical to look into an apartment nearby that would cost a little more but is something I can handle for a little more privacy and quiet.

My question to you folks who have apt. shopped before, what are the kind of things I should be looking into. I am mostly looking into studio apartments and 1 bedroom apartments. What kind of utilities do I want paid for, and what websites are the best to find available listings. Craigslist is the only one that comes to mind for me.

Rent wise I am hoping to find anything within the $300 (haha) and $500 range. I am not looking into taking on a roomate. Thanks for the help.

Rent.com is decent but you might strike gold if you just take a drive around the neighborhoods surrounding campus. I found a fully furnished studio apartment in Dayton that way. The building was filled with grad students from UD so it wasn't so bad.

As for utilities, water and sewer should be paid for. You might get lucky and find a place that includes heat but expect to pay a little more for rent.
