This works for the 360?
And is it new?

king9x
02-19-2009, 07:04 PM
Yes, works for both 360 and your PC, comes with a USB wireless receiver which allows your PC to recognize any wireless XBOX360 accessory. For example you can use your Rock Band/Guitar Hero guitars on the PC for Frets on Fire etc.

Retails for $59, Dell has it for $49 - $30 dollars off for home users for a total of $19.

That's a very good deal. I think the USB receiver itself retails for $19.99

Free shipping would make this a nicer deal, though for $26 or so with tax and $5 shipping, it's a pretty good deal.

Well it is for Windows. Its wireless. It would need the adapter for it to work. I dont see it in the description but it is included I would imagine.

Great deal either way though.

Here is that same model number on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-Wireless-Controller-Windows-Pc/dp/B000KA5T6A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1235087334&sr=8-1

Includes the wireless receiver.

IIRC that costs $20 alone, so basically with this you get a controller for $7.

So if it's made for your pc how do you play your xbox on your pc? I've been looking into this, but don't know how much it would cost and how to hook it up.

The controller is a 360 controller. It comes with the USB PC Receiver to use the 360 controller on the PC. With PC games. The receiver also allows you to use other wireless 360 accessories on the PC as well. Race Wheel, Headset, etc.

So how can you play xbox on your pc?

You don't. It's primarily if you want to use your 360 controller or other 360 peripheral for PC games or emulators. I believe Games for Windows games are supposed to support the 360 controller as a requirement, but using XPadder means you can make the controller compatible with pretty much any program/game.

But I know you can hook it up to your PC and play on your screen that way, does anyone know how to do that?

You can plug it into the monitor with the right cable (HDMI, VGA, DVI).

So how can you play xbox on your pc?

You can find a cable that connects your 360 to your monitor
And if your vid card supports it, you could hook it into there as well.

This controller and receiver though works for many applications, such as PC games. Fallout 3, Bioshock for the PC support gamepads... specifically the Xbox360 controller.

One word of warning. The receiver which is connected through USB in your PC does funky things with other USB devices.
In my case, it corrupts my mic. Without the Xbox360 receiver plugged in, my mic works fine and I can speak to others clearly. The moment I plug in the receiver, I send static to whoever is listening to me.
It is an annoyance if you choose to play with the controller for one game, and switch to say a multiplayer game where your mic would help.

One solution is to unplug the receiver, restart the computer, and everything returns to normal.
Another is to fill up all your USB slots, and plug in the receiver last. This may take up to 10 devices
Lastly, having an external or separate USB hub should fix the problem.
Microsoft has yet to acknowledge this problem.

There have also been reports regarding the lifetime of the receiver. Some have had the receiver break on them after a few months... but I'm not sure how often this occurs or if such reports are well founded

I got my shipping confirmation email this morning. So the price was not a mistake.

Did you happen to receive your shipment yet, and are they actually controllers?

I don't want to wait one month for my shipment to arrive and find out they're just receivers and not controllers.

Same here, my order was pushed back until mid-March. As long as they honor the price, I don't mind the wait.

Got it today, and I don't think that the wireless receiver works. I tried plugging the damn thing into pretty much every USB port on my PC after installing the software and nothing happens. The little light on it doesn't turn on, and my controller can't sync up to it. I'm going to try it on my roommate's PC when he gets home later.

Does Dell have a painless replacement program?

Twice in the last week, I have received an email and/or autocall that my order has been backordered and they must hear from me within 24 hours to give my "consent" to continue processing or they will cancel the order and refund my money. I don't care if it takes an extra month to get the controller, but it seems that they are using an FTC regulation to cancel some of these orders. If a buyer is not on the ball or not online for 24 hours, they could have their order cancelled on them.

If you are still waiting for delivery, be vigilant or lose out on a good deal.

PapaSmerf
03-26-2009, 08:43 PM
I have now received two more requests for my "permission" to continue processing my order. My delivery date is now 4/7/09. I asked them to just make my delivery date some time in May so they stop asking me if they can cancel my order, but the pleasant woman with the Indian accent explained there was nothing she could do.

Finally received my order today after five delivery date changes. They had to ship it from Canada.
