I'd check reviews, as probably they're extremely different games. Typically they make an entirely different game with similar themes.

And yeah, the graphics would most likely be HUGELY different. Call of Duty 4 on the Playstation 3 is astounding looking. I mean one look at it in motion and there's no way last gen hardware could render that at 1fps. It's a gorgeous game (in terms of detail at least).

As for single player...I haven't played World at War, but I was pretty unimpressed by Call of Duty 2 and 4. I got stuck in 2, and beat 4, and at best just sort of vaguely enjoyed both.

If you really like the earlier games in the series, I'm sure you'll like WoW too, but to me the games are pretty weak (as single player at least). No story, and the gameplay is spastic, which for me I dislike, although I think some would enjoy it for the same reason.

Personally there are dozens upon dozens of FPS I like better, but I'm sure it's at least playable (the PS3 version that is).

World at war? None in the 360 version. I seriously doubt there is in the ps2.

The game was fairly violent though if that is a concern (thought it was in a historical context)

Yes. The stories aren't connected, aside from a few sly nods as fan service to people who played the others. The gameplay and presentation has also improved with each one, so Persona 4 is really the best place to start.

As for the endings, you can either a) accept getting a bad ending, or b) use a guide to figure out what you have to do from December 3 onward in order to get a real ending, which extends the game by two more dungeons and maybe 20 more hours of gameplay.

Don't worry about the bad ending, you'll never be able to get stuck with it because you won't have a chance to save after you go down that path. The only minor annoyance is having to repeat a 10-minute long cutscene (and possibly multiple times if you're not using a guide and mess up more).

Yeah, I jumped at Y2 for $15, even though $10 would've been nice. At least at the stores around me, finding used PS2 games usually means they looked like a 5 year old used it as a sandbox toy... plus like others have said there may still be a chance for Sega to bring over the PS3 games if they sell... buying used doesn't support that at all.

Plus with CA's insane sales tax about to get a lot worse, a used $10 copy wouldn't save me all that much.

I think you can't do that manually, but if you get to reach someone @ Amazon CS by email, or preferably by phone, they should be able to combine orders and still give you the discount.

I dig Yakuza because it reminded me of Shenmue in many ways, and that game ruled. Also, the fighting mechanics/controls are better than Shenmue. I bought Yakuza 2 when it first came out but do not regret paying full price of $30, seeing it for $15 now is a great deal for anyone thinking of buying it.

It's not great but it's still a good, solid game (averaging 8.0-8.5 in most reviews), and it's pretty fun and engaging too.
Like the previous guy said, if you liked Shenmue, you will enjoy Yakuza too.

And the two Japan-only (so far) Yakuza releases for PS3 are looking really sweet, and from Japanese review scores, look to have stepped the series up from good to great.

As someone who enjoys the Dynasty Warriors series, I think the Yakuza games have more than respectable reviews. 75 & 77 on Metacritic respectively, I think IGN gave them both 8.somethings.

As for why I want it, well I've played a bit with friend's copy of the first one and was impressed, and I like what I've seen of the third game(Ryu Ga Gotoku 3, cage fights, hostesses, etc).

as good as yakuza 2 is, i ultimately didn't bite on it -- i liked shenmue 2 but didn't love it. i can see the charm in these games but if yakuza 2 is shenmue 3 (with some evolution), it's just not my cup of tea.

Hell no. P4 is better in almost every way. The themed dungeons, the murder mystery constantly dangling the carrot, the characters, the teenage confusion, every little change makes it an easier 100 hours to swallow than P3. I burned out on P3, but not P4.

Yeah, I've certainly bought my share of games based on great reviews, only to find that the games are not really my taste. Then again, I'm a collector of sorts, and thus so long as I'm not paying a lot (all my games are usually at or under $10), it doesn't bother me to try out new genres. I guess it's kind of like seeing movies that aren't up my alley -- you never know though, you might like it ;-)

Granted, I can't quite do this too much anymore (I'm a poor student now), but I have a huge backlog and I've played some of P3 and really liked it. Of course, I also have no more time to play much, either -- I suppose I buy games now thinking that I'll eventually get to them later on (even years later, if need be).

Just watch, I'll probably end up selling 'em all without even playing them. :-P

Yeah, yikes. Persona 4 sounds way too complicated for me, and I've been playing RPGs for 25 years. I sure woudln't start on it (unless I'm totally wrong about its difficulty).

Dungeon crawl until you're bored of that, then go around town building relationships by talking to people; talk to people until you're bored of that, then go dungeon crawl. It's very simple, it's 100 hours of nothing but that, but somehow it clicks.

I submitted my order right when the Yakuza 2 deal started, my account said it would ship 3/2, and I ended up getting my order in the mail yesterday with FSSS. It probably depends all on which warehouse is servicing your order. It just so happened that this order was shipped from a state over although this doesn't always happen.
