Fuck.
I hate the Rock.
The Doomguy is not supposed to be a character that stands out, he is supposed to look like a generic space marine.
And he should be wearing a helmet so you can't see his face.
The Rock will not wear a helmet that covers his face because his ego is too big.

Apparently Dwayne is the performer of default for video game movies. He's also doing Spyhunter and is supposedly in the running for a few others.
Has anyone told him about the requirements for Metroid?

Just read some info. on the link below that Karl Urban will be starring as the lead marine. Looks like he and The Rock could potentially square off.

The Rock is best suited for the action-hero type of movie. I think this will be a great choice.

Ahh, the Doom movie.. rumored after Doom I, rumored after Doom II, rumored before Doom III, now rumored after Doom III... and the Rock starring in it is just at a rumor stage right now. I'll wait for more concrete evidence right now.

The Rock is good at playing one character, The Rock. I wish he'd stay in the ring and not act in all of these movies.

Hmm, a movie about a space marine and aliens/demons. A horrible mix of Aliens and Starship Troopers? An acting wrestler does not help the cause.

To be honest, when the Rock decided he should start acting.. all I could think of was Hulk Hogan's terrible movies and figured he was going to bomb. After I saw his last few movies, the man really can act.. he really is the next big action hero (hell, even Arnold said that).

I hope he's playing a monster that gets shot in the first scene. I can't stand him... Maybe a supporting role wouldn't be so bad but not the lead.

The majority of people enjoy The Rock so he's here to stay.

Even if you like the rock... Can you see him playing the lead in Doom? Thats not how I envisioned the guy in the game.
And they'd probably change the script to let him do one of his corny wrestling lines or moves.

I happen to like the Rock's "acting." It's certainly not the best, but for someone who just came from wrestling, I'd say he has a natural ability to do it.
His last few movies have been pretty entertaining, but I'm just wondering what new one-liners he's going to have for this one.

You can't start out prejudiced against him just because he was a pro-wrestler. I did the same thing with Astron Kutcher in The Butterfly Effect and if they hadn't started out with the kid for the first half of the movie I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the movie.

I don't care if he's a wrestler. I've seen him act. He actually can do it better than most and I give him credit for it, but I don't see him fitting into a lot of roles that aren't specificly written for him. I don't see him as the main character in Doom. If he's the bad guy, that could work.

Considering what this is, a movie based off a video game license, chances are it will suck with or without the Rock. And if you think the Rock is bad, look at who's slated to direct it, Andrzej Bartkowiak, the guy behind Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, and Cradle 2 the Grave.

You're right, it'll suck anyway.
And in an attempt to promote the movie (since it'll suck), The Rock will play himself, The Rock. Hell, it wouldn't make the movie any worse, might even make it a little funny.

Taking into account the director's past movies, mabye he will have the Rock fight Jet Li and DMX to promote the movie.

There will be 3 or 4 aliens beating the crap out of the Doom guy, then The Rock's theme music will play, and he'll give them all the rock bottom, The End.

Considering the source, Rock can only improve it.

Is it just me or does it seem like the Rock plays the same character in every movie he does, just with different names. Even the Scorpion King himself wasn't too far removed from his role in Walking Tall.
