I stumbled upon GameTradeCentral.com while reading a post. They actually offer some great trade in deals and I am really considering about using them. Has anyone sold games to them? Just want some feedback on them before I go through with this.

Also, on a related side note, is Gamersfactory.com legit?

Possibly?. They are assholes, though.

I've been dealing with them for about a month on two orders. I placed in an order on Dec. 31st and another on Jan. 1st (Oh the naivety). I saw 39.98 for Eternal Sonata and I couldn't pass that up and I had a bunch of last gen titles cluttering up my living space. They received the orders on January 9th. I was made aware of that through a very confusing e-mail. Basically they send you the order confirmation again and again changing the tracking info slightly each time.

Anywho. The website says 4-7 business days to review the order. That came and went. I sent them an e-mail. No response. I called. I explained the situation to the customer service girl. beep. New guy, which I explain the situation to. beep. New guy, which I explain the situation to. Somehow this is worth a dramatic sigh on his part (I just asked for the status of my order). He half-assedly explains that they are reviewing my order, and maybe I'll get an e-mail at the end of the week.

So last Friday I got one e-mail verifying the credit amount of the later placed order. It was fine. Two DS games and I received the amount they said I would. Then the big order confirmation came today. I scan through, and Eternal Sonata had a credit change to 18.98. "What the hell!" I exclaimed. Sure that's the trade in amount listed now, after they've been clinging to my order, but the value hadn't dropped as of Jan. 9th when they received my order. Plus, I've not recieved the "instant" credit I am supposed to.

I just typed off a not so happy e-mail. If they don't respond to that they will get some not so happy calls. If they don't respond to that I'll notify the BBB.

CAGers beware!

I just used Gamersfacory.com and it worked out great, they gave me more then they originally quoted so I can't complain.

I used GameTradeCentral and they quoted me like $150 in trade in value, then they waited like 3 weeks to process my games and dropped the trade in value of the games to like $90. I called and asked them why, they said because the retail values of the games had dropped. I was like WTF.

Use www.mx123.com They are a great place.

Yeah those are exactly the same amounts as mine. It must be their trickery addled "thing" they do. At any rate I finally got the store credit for videogamecentral.com stuff that I have been wanting. So I was excited.

I ended up calling them again when they didbn't reply to my second e-mail. Exact same thing. I talked to three people explaining my story then I got the half-assed guy. I told him everything. He said they would send my credit codes again and that I must have a junk mail filter on. I stopped that and told him to just read me the codes on the phone. He sputtered and stammered but realized he really had no choice.

So then I went to use the codes at videogamecentral.com. I've been waiting since this whole shenanigans started to pick up Zack and Wiki, Mass Effect, and Twilight Princess for Wii (I traded in my GC copy).

I put in one my promotional free shipping coupon....fantastic...I put in my first credit code, OK $90 pops up...and wtf? my free shipping goes away.

Well whatever I just want the games. So I put in my other credit code, Oh; you can't stack them, that's annoying. And you only get the one chance to use them, that's more annoying. Oh well, I just want my freakin' games. Let's calculate shipping...$20 for UPS ground? Holy Hell! So I placed my orders and I'm awaiting their arrival.

Lesson learned.

Well as far as I know they are cheating me out so far. I sent them my old N64 and a bunch of the games and controllers. And it said I'd get around $70 so I was okay with that but the problem now is that they aren't replying to my emails. Plus its been 2 months! WTF?! They got my stuff on March 18 and know it's freakin may 15! :bomb: They are totally gettin some phone calls!

I made the mistake of trying to do business with them. They've had my stuff since early January (I have a delivery confirmation verifying this) and they have been ignoring all contact. I just filed a complaint with BBB of NY (not the first!), the US Postal Service Mail Fraud Department and will be contacting the New York City Police Department to find out how to file a theft charge. I also encountered the troubles others noted..they quote you one price, then you get an email with the reduced price. Baloney! Also tried to shortchange me on the alleged reimbursement of postage...when I clearly have a receipt that shows how much I paid with insurance. I don't even know why they ask you to buy insurance. Once the package is signed for, I can't file a USPS insurance claim any way....

This seems to be a common game these trade companies play. I don't know if it was gametradecentral, but I remember my buddy called me about how he was all excited that he found an online place to trade his xbox 360 and games in for more than gamestop. They quoted him somewhere around $220, but of course by the time the stuff was "registered" or whatever, it was down to like $170. I would be willing to wager that they do this simply because of the amount of people who don't want to put up a struggle and simply give in(everytime I go to gamestop and see someone dissapointed at the low TIV they're given, almost all of them just shrug their shoulders and say "ahh whatever").

1) My print out for my trade-in : $90. The shipping and insurance was supposed to be reimbursed if the trade-in was over $50.

2) I printed the invoice which included the total I was to be paid, printed the postage which included insurance for the full value of the trade-in.

3) When I receive my payment, they issue me payment, except suddenly, my trade in value is just $37.31 ($35.93 after paypal fees). That's $57.60 dollars I'm missing from this payment.

Whose to say all of a sudden, my trade in is worth 50 cents?
I emailed several days ago to customer service and have not received an email back yet. Either I want my shit back or the money they agreed to pay when I sent in my order.

I see why they request the games to be sent via media mail - so they can change all their prices by the time it arrives. Or even after it arrives, they have to "process" your order.

There should be a sticky of rip-off websites such as gametradecentral.com

Really funny that they accept systems/cartridges (i see systems, not necessarily cartridges, but assuming as such) and tell you to ship them media mail.

Systems (obviously) and cartridges DO NOT qualify as media.

ADDENDUM - I don't have a pretty named site, but I will pay via Paypal or money order on trade ins and will PROBABLY beat the price any sites offer.

And I won't jerk you around.

Do they not have a phone number? I thought I called them when they messed up on my transaction. It didn't really help much, but its worth a shot. I will see if I can find it for you, if you can't.

I did file a complaint with the New York City Police Department....it is theft!

I don't know why you would have to live here to file a complaint....theft is theft...no matter where you live.

Some of you are lucky to have gotten ANYTHING. I have received not a dime.... I have now filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the US Postal Service Mail Fraud Division, the New York Police Department...and also filed an advisory on ripoffreport.com

I've done everything I can....still steaming that these idiots (and presumably others like them) can continue to do business......or rather steal.....

Hoping that my police report...and hopefully others by some of you who were also stolen from....will be enough for the NYPD to investigate and hopefully bring criminal charges...

You forgot the state attorney general and, if you sent it by mail, it may qualify as mail fraud as well, so you may want to contact whatever authority has jurisdiction over that.

Just wanted to update: I have been contacted by GameTradeCentral and they are attempting to address my concerns. Will keep you posted... Hopefully, this will find a positive resolution.

NO RESOLUTION--I will continue to pursue my claims with the FTC, the USPS Mail Fraud Unit, the NY Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau and the New York Police Department. Emails suddenly appeared giving me a "credit" when I requested Paypal cash payment...and the amount did NOT include full postage and insurance reimbursement as promised; it also downgraded the value of my items (arrived 4 days after prices quoted) by more than 25%. Just to get this "credit" took 10 weeks!!! I don't want the credit...I want a certified check with 100% of the value quoted on my items PLUS the entire postage/insurance amount which is promised on orders of over $50.

Just as troubling is that emails are responded to by "GTC Staff"....multiple requests for the name and phone number and email address of the company's owner(s) were IGNORED. The responses were repeatedly patronizing about me "not understanding their policies." Why hide? If anyone finds the name of the owner, could you post it here?

I have spent way too much time trying to work this out....read carefully what you've read here about this company....

The only name I could find on here was David Scarpitta. His email address is on there, and it's fitting. Hope you get your money back, OP.

I heard of this guy David. He's a reputed con artist in NY.

He was the guy in charge of marketing and maintaining pricing on gametradecentral. He was the one responsible for pricing out trades. He's a con artist that had some work as webmaster/marketing of gametradecentral for a little while and scammed the whole place he was working with.

That is his real cell number (631 area code) however. He is presently putting all his actual info (except that's his parent's address) to try to prove ownership (however fraudulant) in a court case now. When he was outted by ownership he ran and has now downed the site as he possesses the master ID. That's why you cannot load the website in a browser.

His email id says it all.

My games went from being valued at $25 to $9 in a week. I called and called but it didn't do any good. I have added this signature to all of my out going emails for two years now.

Don't send gametradecentral.com your games they will rip you off.

I hope they are under for good.

Hey everyone I'm a graphic designer living in los angeles, looking for work today I found a posting by mister dave here. He asked for a ton of design work and knowledge with very and I mean very little pay. The average freelance to full time work is about 25-40 dollars an hour. He is paying 11 an hour. Read his posting in los angeles art/media/design jobs sorry I'm new so can't post a link his posting title is "NEEDED! Web Graphic Designer & Digital Video/Film Editor! In Gaming!!! (San Gabriel Valley - City of Industry)". In these hard economic times we can't let aholes like this take advantage of people. What can we do?

Interesting fact that I just read this online...

Oldskoolfool was arrested five years back for brandishing a weapon in Stafford County, Virginia and get this, shooting it outside the window of his moving vehicle, AT ANOTHER CAR!!!

"David F. Scarpitta, 25, of West Babylon, N.Y., was charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle and brandishing a firearm."

Search in Google for "david scarpitta shots fired" WOW!!!
