View Full Version : [DEAD] MadWorld (Wii) Preorder for $40 at Amazon

Not the greatest drop, but the pre-order price for MadWorld (Wii) is $40 on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0019SY1D4/ref=nosim/cheapassgam08-20), down from the normal $50. According to Amazon, the game will be released March 10. Amazon has a pre-order price guarantee, so if the price goes back up, they will honor the $40 pre-order price.

Not sure if the MSRP changed, or if this is a pre-order promo, but:

There's already a thread made but at least you put up a link to it.

I'm seriously tempted to get this since $40 bucks sounds like a nice price for MadWorld.

Oh dammit. Dammit dammit dammit. Thanks OP, there goes another 40 bucks. At least next week is payday......

wow... 39.99... for a soon to be QUALITY game? One of the highest anticipated of the year for the wii...

I would pre order but as a fellow CAGer, 40 bucks is still to expensive for me...lol.

If it's this cheap to reserve, imagine what kind of discount it will hit in months.

I can see it at 25.00 within 3-4 months personally. That IS a decent price however........

I originally had this pre-ordered for $46.99 and thought the $3 was nice, but $10 + tax is an even better savings. I just sent them an e-mail to adjust my order total and grabbed a screen shot just in case.

That logic doesn't always hold up though ... I've seen plenty of games get a nice drop out the gate and then hold their value for months if not a year before they drop. The way I see it, grab it at this price ... if it gets panned before you receive it, throw it on ebay the week you get it and it will sell for more than what you paid ...

I can't get excited about this one. No More Heroes was just a complete bore, and between the big Wii releases recently, the Wii already has an ace lineup.

There have been big wii releases lately? Really? I haven't bought anything since Super Smash Bros. ... but then again, I have no interest in playing a tarantula ... I do agree completely in regards to No More Heroes ... boring and uninspired PS2-ish game that it is ...

NMH is a completely different game by a different company. The only similarities is that they are bloody cell shaded Wii games...

I don't understand why people keep relating them. It's like comparing Gears to Halo, even though Gears and Halo have more similarities anyways.

$40 is a great price

I can't really do anything but stare in disbelief at someone who disliked No More Heroes.

This game, however, isn't by Suda51, it's by the reincarnation of Clover (Okami, God Hand), Platinum Games.

I actually preordered at Gamestop. I can't wait for this game- I need it in my hands ASAP. So excited.

Hopefully it's much better than god hand. Gameplay videos doesn't look that fun but IGN been hyping it (though they did the same for Moon which I thought was a terrible game).

And I don't see what's so great about NMH. The developer clearly overreached -- with the GTA free roaming -- beyond what they're capable off, and ended up with the same repetitive identical stages throughout. No where near as good or polished as Killer 7.

Amazon automatically gives you the lowest price from the time you preorder until it enters the shipping process. It doesn't even matter if the price of the game goes up, you get the lowest price no matter what. I'm not sure where the cutoff is but there's been times I've gotten refunds when the price of the game dropped before it was shipped but after I was charged.

$40 is kind of tempting. Decent developers on the Wii need our support as there hasn't been any good releases in a long while, but maybe I can hold out for a better price?

Decent developers on the Wii need our support

That was the deciding factor for me, but I can see where this one is a "coin flip" for many.

As a reminder, another Sega Wii game, Sonic and the Black Knight, is available for pre-order at the same price, perhaps showing that these two are probably a part of some Sega pre-order sale:

I think it was IGN that said, this game is contender for GOTY and that if you can afford it and you don't buy(support) this game at launch, then you're a douche. Even still I know it's hard to fight against the inner CAG.

You are a douche if you don't buy this. Platinum has three of Capcom's four best directors working there. Platinum isn't a decent developer, they're one of the best. If you like high-end action games, support them. And it's a a brawler, not a minigame collection (where do you people come up with this stuff?).

In for 1. So far, the buzz has been hot on this one and you will be able to get back all of your $40 on eBay or Half used AFTER you finish it. This is a no brainer.... Besides, we should support some hardcore Wii stuff or we will see more Compilation Crap GAMEZ #8 Shovelware for the next 5 years!

Geez, sorry my syntax is all over the place there... Gotta play less f.e.a.r. 2!

Inaba also said that they're (gasp!) considering a sequel should the game be successful. If that's not enough of a non-surprise for you, he reminds us that there will be minigames -- known here as "Blood Bath Challenges." This is a Wii title, after all.

Final Fantasy games have minigames. Does that make them minigame collections or games you would describe even generally as "minigames"?
Even Resident Evil 4 has the shooting gallery and Mercs.

The word minigame is constantly abused. I don't think most of you could even define it. Are the driving and flying stages Gears of War minigames? Why not? Just because a game has secondary types of gameplay doesn't make it a minigame collection or warrent labelling it as "full of minigames."

It's silly.

Bloodbath challenges aren't really minigames... they're really more like (extremely violent!) bonus rounds that count toward your cumulative score. Plus, they're semi-seamless and usually indistinguishable from the main game. Peep the vid:

http://www.gamesradar.com/f/madworld-murder-melody/a-20090219132519142010

The Man Darts, crush press, and soda pop spikes are Bloodbath Challenges and they're not your typical lazy Wii afterthought.

I actually went with the Japan Video Games deal...hopefully it comes through.

$40 is too much for me for this. I haven't paid that much for a game in quite a while.

Plus, I really don't need to "support the developers" for more Wii games. If I own every system, I don't care where the games end up. (As a Nintendo fanboy, I'm happy just to see them win this gen; good third-party games or none.)

RollingSkull
02-23-2009, 02:09 AM
Again though, between Tenchu, Overkill, and Deadly Creatures, you don't NEED to "support the developers" by buying this one because you should have already bought THOSE three.

The reason why I compare NMH to Madworld is that the exact same people who thought NMH was the second coming rather than the horrendous, button mashing waste of $50 it was are hyping the bejeesus out of this one. ESPECIALLY those mindless fad-followers at IGN.

I have been burned and cheated out of my money every single time I listen to those people dating back to the PS2 and GameCube era.

I was not planning on getting this game until the summer, but for $40 I have to jump. Really, I can do without the game for some time, but I want to make it clear that these are the kind of games I want on the Wii and not the crap third parties are throwing on it.

This is the second game I pre-ordered this year to send message (Ghostbusters to more or less say shaq-fu to Activision). Hopefully all this pre-ordering will actually show developers/publishers what we are looking for.

Other than the buying Okami used two weeks ago, No More Heroes was my last buy too. I let my boss borrow my Wii for 3 months and then it sat in the box for another 3-4 months. SAD. I used to LOVE Nintendo, now we're like fuckbuddies gone bad?!?!

Well, technically, I bought Okami around launch. I only put a few hours in to it, though; I'd beaten the PS2 version long before.

So, NMH wasn't technically my last game. Just my last significant game. Which is just sad.

Anyway, here's hoping Madworld turns out awesome!
