Do they take all GBA games (Kong for example)? jw, I'll try it tomorrow anyways and see what happens. also gonna try to give them a Mass Effect that has one of those circular scratch rings on the bottom of the disc and see what happens (I've actually brought it in there several times, their reactions to it are priceless, employee: "what do I do with this?" manager: "we cant take those ones...") oh and the second time when the guy stared at it for 30 seconds and said "we dont take these". and when the other guy held it up to the light and stared at it before saying they cant fix it lol.

No the guy wouldnt even scan them b/c apparently he knew they were worth under a dollar. They were all in good condition except for Castlevania apparently

Diddy - being under $1 shouldn't have mattered, as far as the trade-in deal is concerned. I traded in Madden '07 which was less then $1 base, no problem. Scanned fine. There is no minimum for this deal. However, all trades are subject to manager approval. I.e. They can make their own rules. You could try trading them into a different gamestop.

You really want to make me trade in my Wii Fit and balance board. I don't remember the last time I actually used it for its intended purpose. Right now I'm just using it as a $90 scale but just bought a real scale and realized how inaccurate the Balance Board is. It was nice to see my little Mii character drop down a size recently, but getting that close to the actual cost of the game for a trade-in is quite tempting.

You have to confirm this for me. I know that if we buy a used game and pay for it in full we don't have to pay the tax. I didn't know it was for pre-orders also. I always pre-order but I never pay in full even when I have the money or credit. Now I'm looking at my SF4 receipt and I pre-ordered it. I put down $5 so the rest was 54.99. I traded in some games and got 147.49 back. My receipt says New Merchandise $4 refurb fee and $54.99 for SF4. The total was $58.99. I got back $88.50 so from what I see I did not get charged tax. I hope this is the case because this will help tremendously on that RE5 CE and RE5 360 Bundle.

I don't think they will let you add money to the edge card. You could buy a gift card, but I don't believe that will be store credit. You would have to trade in some stuff to get store credit. Also I believe it depends on what state you live in. I confirmed this with two of my GS. They told me if I use credit to buy anything in the store then I won't have to pay tax.

And I have a related question. How do they know if something is store credit or a gc? One time when I traded in some games, I told them I just wanted to put the credit on my Edge card. But then I switched out cards and gave them a gc I already had so I wouldn't have too much on one card. That should have been store credit, but will they think it's just a taxable gc now?

I know there's over a month left on this deal, but I'm really hoping for a +$10 deal again soon, because a bonus of $3.34 per game is looking alot sweeter than the $1 I'd get on alot of these crap games I have.

Ok, this talk of no tax when paying with store credit has me intrigued. I'm in California and have the RE5 CE pre-ordered and paid in full with STORE CREDIT. They charged me the $89.99 + tax, so I'm assuming that if it is not done automatically then that "no tax" rule is null and void in my state?
Also, I had purchased a used game from them about a week ago, swapped it for another game on the same day and was not charged sales tax.
I ended up returning it a day later and was issued a gift card because the "purchase" of the game took place through an exchange, and upon looking at the receipt today noticed that I was credited the amount I paid along with the sales tax figured in, giving me an extra couple bucks. So what the heck is going on?

I want to get that cleared up and see whether or not I should have been charged the sales tax for my pre-order. Also, is there an actual list or something that states these rules and which states qualify/use them?

I'm wondering if I should trade just the game in as part of this deal with some other crap games, and keep the collector's tins and contents to sell separately.

If I can scrounge up 6 games total, I'd be getting $22.75 x 1.5 = $34.13 a piece for the Fallout 3 games alone. I also picked up a phat DS yesterday off of craigslist for $10 (no AC adapter so I'm going to buy a used Gameboy SP one at Gamestop today), with Asphalt Urban GT.

I'm wondering if I should just get the $20 + $25 bonus trade in credit on the DS, and use Asphalt Urban GT as my 3rd game. Maybe I could just buy 3 crap filler old sports games so I can get the 6 game 40% bonus. even if I spend $1 or two for some old PS2, DS, Gamecube or even GBA sports games, it would be worth it for the Fallout 3 bonus...

What do you guys think?

I have a similar issue, but it's with the collector's edition of Saints Row 2. Should I attempt to sell it online sealed? Separate the game out and just sell that separate? or Trade in the game for around $30 GS credit? I bought it for $24 at CC the other day. Or.... is this game worth playing? I have a huge backlog as is, but if this is a spectacular game I'd consider playing it a little first.

Yup, the DS Phat and GBA SP charger/AC Adapter is the same. 5.2 V...I used my GBA SP charger/AC adapter to charge up this DS phat I scored.

Although, Since you're looking for a DS Lite AC adapter, Gamestop sells them - $15 (highway robbery) for an official Nintendo DS Lite AC adapter new, $13 used I think (if you can find it used). BUT, they have a third party one that can be used for DS Lites, DS phats, and GBA SP's. It's $10 new and $8 used if you can find it. I'm not going to pay $10 new for a 3rd party charger when a used one can be had for $2 less PLUS an extra 20% off of that (with EDGE and the 10% off used coupon).

I just got back from looking for a used one. Went to 4 stores, all of which listed the used ones as "in stock" on the website. Not only that, 2 of these stores allegedly had Steel Battalion for XBox complete with the giant controller AND used Gamecube component cables. I have a similar issue, but it's with the collector's edition of Saints Row 2. Should I attempt to sell it online sealed? Separate the game out and just sell that separate? or Trade in the game for around $30 GS credit? I bought it for $24 at CC the other day. Or.... is this game worth playing? I have a huge backlog as is, but if this is a spectacular game I'd consider playing it a little first.

Again, if you're in the Bay Area, they are running this program where every $100 you trade in, you get an extra $10 in trade credit. With this, I built up 29 stamps, which equals to 2 full cards (which is an extra $20) and 9 more stamps to another card (1 more stamp will equal another $10). With that, I was able to redeem one of my cards and they applied it to the PS2 Singstar Microphones. Instead of $3.50, it got a $10 override and it had a value of $14.85.

They keep telling me that we're in a test area and they are hoping that this program goes nationwide. This has been going on since November of last year.

Used the extra credit today and bought a used Street Fighter 4 for :360: as well as a Chun Li fightpad for :360:

Anyone know if you can return "New" (open) copies of a game?

I just now was looking through a bunch of the stuff I picked up at GameStop today and realized he slipped in a gutted copy of Burnout Paradise. I wanted a used copy for near 16 bucks but he said they didn't have any in, so I said that's okay grab me a new one, and I went over to grab Mario 64 for DS and bought several other things, and just now realized he gave me a fuckin gutted game for 20 bucks...that I'm now scared probably can't be returned.

i bought it last night. i was doing a big trade in and looking at things to purchase and i mentioned that i wanted burnout paradise so he grabbed a copy from under the desk while i was browsing, for some reason i thought it was sealed (cus he put it under my copy of halo wars and SonicsUGC). the seals on the top and side are clearly ripped open and the box is the platinum hits box and it has some obvious dents and scratches on the outside of the box lol. so far from new... disc is in pretty good condition besides some smudges. has the "NEW 19.99" square sticker on the top right (on the actual box...) idk nothing about a clear circle sticker?

Well the one I took to a different store, I also used a gift receipt. If I were you, I'd just take back to the original store and tell them you really didnt want a gutted one and didn't notice until you left. If it's only been a day or two, it might work.

Oh, that's what you mean by gutted. My GS does this too. They usually put them on the shelves. I don't know why they put 20 new release games of the same title on the shelves. I think its dumb to open almost every game that comes in the shipment just to put the cases around the store. Then they wanna give you an open copy and put a clear sticker over it. I remember when ST4 came out all copies were already open and behind the desk with the stickers on them. The following week they got in another shipment. They left these copies sealed though. I guess its how many copies they have of a game. The thing is your not going to find a sealed copy of an older game at GS. All games that are older will be gutted. I have noticed that some GS have a lot of sealed games behind the counter and some have opened copies. It might differ between how the mangers run their stores.

I knew I was eating a bit by trading in, but I also knew these were all going to a DSi preorder, and since I don't have to pay tax on a fully paid-off preorder (which saves me close to $20 in New York), it was worth the few extra bucks to avoid the hassle.

Okay, back to this no tax on store credit issue, anyone know if it applies online? What about ordering online in NY?

I would try it outmyself but I have no store credit as of now, but I will be trading in some stuff tomorrow. And I would like to pick up some stuff with the B2G1 online, but if it no tax, I might just search NY for a store that has 3 games I want.
