I just got Killzone 2 and Socom with headset for $97 at BB. I'm thinking about exchanging the Socom for RE5. I just want the headset but I don't need it. RE5 can turn into $45 credit since I already have it. Decisions decisions. BTW is the official headset really good? Also LBP - $26.

Yea I will. They cost the same. If not I'll just return and rebuy with RE5 instead of Socom. I wanted Valkyria Chronicles but they didn't have it. It must have the charger. See if you can find a cheap used one at Gamecrazy, that's what I did for a DS Phat I bought for like $10 without the charger. Since the DS Phat uses the same as the GBA SP, it was only like $2.99. The DS Lite ones will hopefully be similarly priced. Gamestop charges ripoff prices for 3rd party new ones ($15), and I went to a bunch of stores looking for used ones and none had any despite being listed as in stock online ($10...don't forget the 10% coupon and EDGE for added discount if you go this route).

Also, Walmart has official Nintendo DS Lite chargers for $11.xx, best price I could find outside of online.

I've done it a few times with the "same" copy of Wii Sports...at least twice. I had to upgrade a copy from a scratched up disc only copy to a complete and minty copy, took two returns to do it.

The promotion should be automatic. Generally whenever they tell me the value, I mention the promotion to make sure everything went through, but it should be factored in for you when they give you the credit amount. Just make sure they run it as store credit and not cash, otherwise none of the bonuses will be added.

on one trade I did they forgot to scan a game and I didnt even realize it at all until I was nearly home and the girl from eb called to tell me what had happened and that I could come back in to get the additional credit for the trade or get the game back.. that was really weird and surprising.

This it at least $2, because last time I tried when they were doing trade in 3 get $10. I tried 3 games with the arcade unplugged being one that had a base of $1.50 and the bonus didn't come up.

All prices listed in the OP are before bonuses. So, yes, the base is $80, and you'd get bumped to $105 with the bonus.

The games bonus only applies to the games you're trading in, so no, you wouldn't get an additional 20% on the 360 trade-in.

Crud, I think they rang me up for Zelda a Link to the Past and not four swords now that I look at my receipt. Stupid receipt cuts off the end and I can't tell which game they put in. I had to look at the 6 digit number online and see they rang up the wrong one. I'm going to have to go back and see if I can get that fixed. I'm not sure what I have to stand on, but the fact that I really doubt many people trade in or buy GBA games it shouldn't be hard to prove that four swords was just traded in and not a link to the past.

It should still be $23. It isn't company policy to give less trade credit for incomplete copies, but sometimes you'll run across a store that hits you with a "refurbishing fee" for disc-only games. They're not supposed to do that unless the disc is damaged.

It's called turning a profit. Again, they are a business. They aren't a charity. They aren't looking to help us out. They're looking to take something we don't want and make money off of it. Like I said, if someone wants more, they should sell it themselves. But they aren't going to get the convenience or instant gratification of a trade-in. And just for reference, Amazon gives $17.50 for the 360 version and $15.50 for the PS3 version, so it's not like this big injustice that GameStop gives $14.

You also have to realize that GameStop...again...thinking as a business will look at the trade-in and sale in the worst possible way. So, if everything went against them, someone would trade this in with an EDGE card and during a promo. So, now they are giving out about $20. Then, someone comes in and buys it with EDGE and a coupon. Now, the sale is looking more like $35. Is it likely that all of that will happen? Nope, not at all. But that isn't GameStop's problem. They aren't going to take the risk of "hopefully we will make a great profit of this." They leave nothing to chance. And that's why they are as successful as they are. They are cuthroat, and they have the used games business by the balls.

I've little interest in defending Gamestop but in this case I don't see the problem. They are giving you over 30% of what they are going to try to sell the game for which is actually pretty decent relative to other retailers. I worked retail a few years ago (we bought books, games, dvd's etc) and a percentage of 30% or over was supposed to be reserved only for very desirable merchandise that we thought was guaranteed to sell.

This is also my experience as a consumer/seller: you almost never get more than 30-40% (and generally you get less) of what the company is going to sell your item for. Of course here you are only getting credit versus actual cash.

So maybe there are better ways of selling things (Ebay or whatever else) but as far as retail stores, GameStop's TIV's are pretty standard. I only really trade stuff in there when there is a promotion to take advantage of (like trading in 6 to get 40% extra). And then I only use it when there is a different deal to make it worth my while like B2G1 free.

YMMV. Usually no because thats combining two promos which they don't do right there, but your employee maybe be dumb enough to go through with it. If that fails just go to GameCrazy, you get $90 trade in with DS Lite towards DSi.

Looks like you did get the 50% (40% promo + 10% Edge)

50% of 25 is 12.50, so you got 37.50 for SFIV, and all the 10 to 15 is a 50% boost.

Unfortunately this new stuff goes into effect tomorrow, though there could be some potentially good stuff for the Wii, depending on the qualifying amount for trade-ins. If it's $1, trading in 4 Wii games would be adding $6.25 per game...not too shabby.
