The website only says 3/15 but they will extend it. They never put more than 3 weeks of promo dates at a time normally. There are exceptions but for the most part it's a 2-3 week span then they renew it.
From the other thread:
can anybody explain to me the "cracked ID" section? :/
Basically it is useful if you think the trade-in value is really low compared to a recent quote on the list, you can see if they gave you the trade-in value from another sytem that may have a lower value. You look at your item number and can use it to figure out what system they gave the trade-in value for.

One update:
New Super Mario Bros (DS) is $17.00 base (2/24/09)
progman3
02-24-2009, 05:42 PM
Yep it started, I traded my 360 w/ wired Controller - Base - $70 + $25 BONUS (the receipt says promo #6562) = $95.00
Also, 360 20GB HD - Base $18 + $1.80 Edge Card = $19.80
I called my local store and they said there was no promo in the book for this. Is it possible they didn't get an updated book? As long as it's in the system right?
I'm looking to get rid of my noisey launch Pro system before it RROD.
Yeah, my store didn't know about it either, but it automatically added the promo once the guy totalled everything up.
Same thing for me, my system had a manuf. date of 2006, so I wanted to trade it in b4 the inevitable.

Good to know. Extending the promo end date after 3/15 still give us the possibility of doing some flips if Blockbuster does another B1G1 sale soon...

Have "The Guide" w/ RE5 on the cover in my hand. Last page with the ad for the tiered trade deal clearly states "...expires 04/05/09" So it definitely wont end on 3/15 as the website says.
TIV's today:

total after bonus & edge $66.75 not bad considering COD4 I got for $40, DWG for $4.97 Nintendogs from the BBV bogo for $7.50 & the others were .97 at Sears!
I really love CAG!

Trade in at least 2 games, get 10% extra credit, Trade in at least 4 games, get 20% extra credit, Trade in 6 or more games, get 40% extra trade-in credit!
Expires: 3/15/2009. Offer not good on cash trades. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Offer good towards games only. Cannot be combined with any other offer.
Please don't beat me about the head and face. I'm just curious if it stacks with EDGE since it specifically says no combining, but I've never seen them turn down an EDGE combo.

Did a trade in today 2/24/09 and the gs guy said I could only do 6 games, he wouldn't give me 40 + 10 % over six, kind of weird.. but i got
ps3 - Skate $10 (+5.00)
ps3 - Midnight Club LA $23.00 (+11.50)
Rock Band Track Vol 2 $8.00 (+ 4.00)
Mario Kart DS $15.00 (+7.50)
Shrek The 3rd GBA $3.50 (+ 1.75)
Pokemon Leaf Green GBA $13.00 (+6.50 ) $19.50 for that fucker! I got that game for $4.99 at K-Mart a couple monthes ago and just never got around to flippin in it.
All in all, came away with $108.75, picked up SF 4, Sonic Genesis collection and Sony Prepaid PSN card.
oh yeah and a kid in front of me traded in COD WAW for 360 and got $20.00 for it.

They do take them, but they don't give you much, and I'm not 100% certain if the trade-in bonus will apply. I think a RROD 360 get's like $20-$40, but don't quote me on that one.

Came to $113 or so, got an edge card to stack (the guy even offered to do it for me... FYI prices reflected are the 50% credit, not 40%) which basically cost $4 or so after that.
Traded (what I paid for them initially in parentheses):
New SMB DS - 25.50 (came with a DS off Craigslist)
Assassin's Creed DS: 7.50 (paid $6)
Motorstorm: 6 (paid $14)
Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 2: 12.00 (paid 7.50)
Folklore PS3: 13.50 (paid $20)
Pure PS3: 30 (paid $15)
Army of Two: 10.50 (paid 20)
Ratatouille: 7.50 (came with a DS off of Craigslist. boring kids crap)
Resident Evil DS: 9.00 (also with the Craigslist DS)
So I now have an Edge card and over $100 in store credit for games that I paid less than $90 for total. I'm so glad I saw this thread!

Is there any way we could get the base prices listed? If my math is correct it should be this:
PS3
Army of Two - 7
Folklore - 9
Pure - 20
Motorstorm - 4
Rock Band Track Pack Vol. 2 - 8
DS
Assassin's Creed - 5
New Super Mario Bros - 17
Ratatouille - 5
Resident Evil - 6
This isn't just towards you either. If you guys can, when you post your items please try to post the base values. You can post the amount after percentage too, but my math isn't always the best when I do it in my head and takes me a little longer to update. Also post the systems, some games may or may not be platform specific, but I don't always know that.

They will take broken systems on PS3, 360 and Wii. I don't know about portables though. I think the general rule of thumb is that it has to be easily repairable to take them. I doubt they would consider the broken screen items.

Edge always stacks with game trade-in promos. An example of something that wouldn't stack with this tiered trade promo is the DS coupon that came out last Friday. However, you can always use your Edge to knock off an extra 10% off used game prices, which isn't always the case at some places like Game Crazy with the MVP card...

Back in January when they were running a $25 bonus trade, I traded in a semi-working phat ds and was hit with a $10 refurb fee. Base TIV was $20+ $25 bonus -$10 so the net to me was $35. I told them up front that it was not 100%-sometimes it wouldn't read games but it would always power up. Also one of the hinges was broken. Long story short its definitely worth a try especially if you've got a good relationship at a particular GS.

Matters how broken. I traded in a spare PSP 1000 which was missing it's Memory Stick door and Analog nub and had no refurb fee.
P.S. $25 more to a Wii!
I had been saving my GS credit to buy a PS3, but I decided to bite the bullet and get a Wii so my wife and I could play some games together. Our families come around often, so that factored into the decision as well. So far, I've used my GS credit to buy:
Wii
used remote and nunchuk
Madcatz Wii skin
2 Madcatz charging docks
2 Nyko Perfect Shots
2 Donkey Konga bongo drums
Donkey Konga
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Wii)
Ghost Squad
I also used a free $25 Amazon gift card to get:
Wii component cables
Gamecube memory card
2GB Sandisk SD card
Even with all of those purchases, I still have about $200 left in GS credit. I love CAG! :D

Your math looks mostly right.
Unfortunately, I just typed up what was on my receipt, which doesn't provide a breakdown pre-edge bonus. I didn't quite feel like doing the math either, so I just wrote what it said, which is likely what everone else is doing. ;)

Traded in my old 360 (4/06) and was able to get $117.25 credit with the charge cable and an extra battery pack. Not bad at all considering my warranty is up next month and I really didn't want to chance having to pay for a repair when I can get a new jasper arcade unit for $199. Used the TIV to pay off RE5 Collector's and Killzone 2. Woo!

Me TIVs:
Gears of War 2 - $25
Call of Duty 4 - $16
Mass Effect - $4
Bioshock - $9
EarthDefenseForce 2017 - $3
Lego Star Wars: The Original Saga - $6
Total $94.50 after 50%. I did the math and I originally paid a total of $125 for all the games combined, so I didn't lose too much value. Most of my depreciation was from Mass Effect, which was the biggest mistake in my CAGing career.

So I guess anything with a TIV under $6 should wait until the +$10 deal, right?

AGreed on the $10 deal. I missed it unfortunately. I have a few games that are worth $3 or less. Doesn't seem worth turning them in under this new deal. The odds I will ever play them again are minimal but still, we are only talking about a $5 TIV. Guess I will hold on to them until another $10 deal pops up.

All of my Gamestops sell cartridge-only used GBA games, which are displayed in a glass case. If that's the case with your GS, then I doubt they would require the box and manual to give you the full TIV for your GBA games...

refurb fees are for disc repair ONLY per corporate, you should never accept them for anything "missing" threaten to go to the regional manager if you must it is not ymmv its a company policy.
also gamestop encourages stores to throw away any box or manual for gba used games, your ebgamestop selling boxed used gba games IS ymmv for that reason.
also a question, anyone traded in a play and charge kit for 360 lately know the tiv?
Gamestop used to lower value if it was cart only, but I think they got sued over it, so now EVERYTHING gets full trade in value no matter what is included.

You have to ask yourself, "Am I really going to play these games again?". If the answer is yes, then keep them. Otherwise, you might as well get some return on your investment. I traded in 20+ titles myself, and some of them were AAA titles. However, I assessed each game I traded in and determined that I wouldn't miss any of them...

This may be a no-duh statement, but remember to take the memory card out before you trade it in. :) All you should need is the battery and AC adapter, none of the documentation or packaging.

-On the Rock Band track pack, i only paid 14.98 and ripped the songs, so i ended up only paying 2 dollars to add 20 songs to Rockband 2.
-Soul Calibur 4, I got back what i paid for it from the Gamefly sale.
- New Super Mario Bros I only paid 16 shipped for on ebay, so good deal there.
- Mario Advance 2/Super Mario World I just can't get into, and didn't mind getting rid of
- MK Deception - both discs from the Collectors Edition were in individual, barcoded cases, and both rang up as the game, the 2nd disc is just Mortal Kombat 1 and some videos.
-Assassins Creed and Resistance were from the B2G1 sale, so I paid 45 for 3 games, and got half of it back when I traded the 2 back in (still have to play FEAR)
The only big loss was SvR 09, but I was completely bored by it and didn't mind getting that amount towards Street Fighter 4 :D

Ace Combat 4 (PS2) - $1
With the promotion and Edge card I ended up with slightly over $100. Not bad, considering I originally paid ~$90 for all the products. With the money I picked up the last PS3 Street Fighter IV CE. =]

Is it worth it to trade in about 6 ds games, a couple ps2 games, a gamecube game, a gamecube, some accessories and a psp game to get a wii and wii remote for about 80 bucks and do you think it will go on sale anytime.

If you're not playing any of those games, then I don't see why it would be a bad thing to trade all those in for a Wii and an extra Wii remote. You'll be able to play any other GC games you still have on the Wii anyway. Also, I'm not sure if you're planning on buying a new or used Wii remote. However, if you plan on getting a used remote, then you can essentially save $12. A new remote is $40, and a used remote is $35. If you use the 10% off coupon in one of the stickied threads plus Edge, then you can get a used remote for $28. I'm not sure if you were also planning on getting a nunchuk as well, but you can get used one for $12 with Edge + 10% coupon.
At any rate, if you want a Wii, then go ahead and make your trades. The Wii is still selling like hotcakes, so it's not like you're going to see a price drop or special sale on it any time soon...

Some values as of 2/25
360
SF4 - 30 Base + 15 50% = 45.00
Golden Axe - 17 Base + 8.50 50% = 25.50
Dead Space - 18 Base + 9 50% = 27.00
MK vs DCU - 20 Base + 10 50% = 30.00
PS3
MGS - 14 Base + 7 50% = 21.00
PS2
Xenosaga - 0.85 Base + 0.37 50% = 1.37
Would of kept Xenosaga but needed a filler.

I have paid with credit a ton of times and my GameStop always gives me full cash back when I return an item, only one time have they given me credit. But then again they have given me full cash on trade-ins (without me losing any promos or any money, basically get the same I would in credit, in cash) several times...The guy in there is one of those wasters, or w.e you would call them, he always looks/seems stoned outta his mind and completely out of it lol.

Do I just need to trade in the system, AC adapter, AV cable and power cord? Do I need to also trade in a controller? If so, does it have to be a Nintendo controller or can it be 3rd party? Do you have to trade in a memory card? If you have to trade in a memory card, the deal is off.

I knew I was eating a bit by trading in, but I also knew these were all going to a DSi preorder, and since I don't have to pay tax on a fully paid-off preorder (which saves me close to $20 in New York), it was worth the few extra bucks to avoid the hassle.

You don't have to pay tax on a fully paid off pre-order? Is that just a NY thing? I've never heard of that before. Does that apply to hardware only or games too? If so I'm going to rethink my viewpoint on preorders.

You have to confirm this for me. I know that if we buy a used game and pay for it in full we don't have to pay the tax. I didn't know it was for pre-orders also. I always pre-order but I never pay in full even when I have the money or credit. Now I'm looking at my SF4 receipt and I pre-ordered it. I put down $5 so the rest was 54.99. I traded in some games and got 147.49 back. My receipt says New Merchandise $4 refurb fee and $54.99 for SF4. The total was $58.99. I got back $88.50 so from what I see I did not get charged tax. I hope this is the case because this will help tremendously on that RE5 CE and RE5 360 Bundle.

I was hit with a dollar refurb trade in. Here's my story. I walked into gamestop asking to trade in my games and asked about the trade in values. I just wanted to trade these games due to the 40% bonus. So after checking my receipt I noticed the employee did not add in skate. Of course, I came back and asked and sorted that out. He couldn't add it to my original reciept due to the system. I asked about the 40% bonus and it should be applied automatically. But guess what, I needed the original game cases for these games in order for the bonus to apply said his manager... So the employee gave me a 10 dollar credit + edge card. First time ever trading in games and it did not go so well. :( Now I'm negative 20 dollars from the total cost spent on these games.

@crunchchewy: It's not so much regional as it is state by state. In Maryland, you pay tax even if you use all store credit. However, across the Potomac in Virginia, you pay no tax if the purchase (new or used) is fully covered by store credit.

GS is only suppose to subtract from the TIV or give refurb fees if the disc is damaged. Other than that call them on it. If they still try to beat you just try another location. Games that come in their shitty GS case still cost the same as the other games. So they shouldn't try and give you less.

I have a local shop that devalues your trade if the case is not in perfect condition. Drives me nuts. the case is supposed to protect the disc not the case. Who cares about the condition of the case as long as it protects the disc.

Add these trades made on Weds as well:
Mario Party 7 $8.75--$12.25
Prince of Persia (PS3) $20.00--$28.00
I wound up picking up my reserve for Killzone 2 and discovered that they had a used Star Ocean IV: The Last Hope for $54.99. I kicked myself in the ass for not having the 10% coupon or extra trade fodder just in case, but wound up picking it up with just a simple Edge discount. I will be going back this weekend with the 10% coupon so that they can price adjust it for me at least ;)

Yep - I discovered the very same thing on my trip to DC this week. This also explains why when you trade games in to Blockbuster they add sales tax in in VA (yes, they actually add it in and give you back more than normal!). Since they still charge sales tax when you purchase they make up for it on the other end by giving you extra on trade-ins. In MD they don't do that (since they aren't required to keep trade credit non-taxable). I know in CA Gamestop charges you tax on trade-in credit purchases and in AZ they don't. And yet in AZ Blockbuster does not give you the sales tax as an extra on trades and they do charge sales tax when you purchase with a Value card (which is what is used to store credit). So it definitely varies from state-to-state quite a bit.

I def got screwed over because the employee at GS forgot to ring up my 6th game to take advantage of the deal and could not add it in the system to my total. Then after that he asked his manager and he said "you need the original game case...so it wouldn't matter." But on my receipt it states that the promo gave me 20% for the 5 games. That 40% would of gave me 10 dollars more...
So if a game isn't in that good condition (scratched) I can't do this deal? How mutch do they take away again for scratched games?

If my games have no box, I put them in one of those clear slim CD cases, if the disk is good, no Referb Fees. I only get fees when the Disks are beat up.

Any Gamestop charging you refurbs for games without the cover or manual is just trying to pad their numbers. Refurb fee income is definitely one of the things that a store's performance is judged on. Gamestop corporate policy dictates refurb fees only for scratched or damaged discs.
If you're ever in a situation where they screw up your trade, and they won't fix it, just make them undo the whole thing and take your games back. Trade at a different store or the next day or something. Or just have them start it over after undoing the last one. They definitely can reverse a trade-in transaction, regardless of what they try to tell you.
On a related note, does anyone else get really annoyed with the clerks who don't know how to use the register right, and want you to sign the screen before they can give you a total for your trade?

I just sent an OLD 360 that finally went RROD yesterday, so when that comes back, I'll trade that in also and keep it on my edge card so I can pick up a PS3 whenever the drop the price. Already have a standalone blu ray player, so there is no rush.

I had bought RB2 Wii (game-only) a week or two ago from CC for $25 to see if it would work with my PS2/PS3 drum kit (it didn't), so I was very happy to get $30 credit for it via this deal and the other games I would never play again, so that was fine. Pinball Hall of Fame is great, but I have Pinball Hall of Fame for Wii now which is better. I'm sure I could have done better on ebay, but with more effort - I'm done with small potatoes ebay sales.

Never trade more than 2 at one time. If you trade 2 and someone asks you, my favorite line is "I bought 1, lost it, rebought it, and then found it." or, you bought one for your brother or something.

Won't fly with GS. Nothing in stone, but you can get away with selling 2 copies of the same game, but I wouldn't bank on being able to trade in more than 3 of the same game.
You could divide up some of them among friends and different Gamestops, that you could do.

Yes, but the value of the game is reduced.

20% less than the base credit and you wont get the trade-in bonus either. Madden would only get you $14.40 in cash.

Quick question,
If I put preorders on games, and cant get a ride out to that GameStop for awhile, like, after the games are released, can I still cancel the preorder or get my money back, or do I have to leave it on those games until I can pay them off...?
Just wondering because I spread out money on a bunch of preorders and may not be able to get there on the release dates or even pay off some of them, so I'm wondering if there's any way to just get the credit or cash back after the preorder is already out.

Dead Rising-$15...RE UC-$17 both for the Wii.........Infinite Horizon you can cancel pre-orders at anytime and get your money back. Most employees will just try and get you to transfer the amount to another game. You can say no and just get a refund.
