The CAG in me wanted to just buy the one month XBL card but the practical gamer in me bought the 1600 points card. I made the purchase online for in-store pickup. For some reason I didn't get charged tax, so the total came out to $19.99. Nice.
My 1600 points card was $19.99+0.01 for the watchmen so it was $20x2 (I bought 2 at once) so I paid $40 total for 2 1600 points card and 2 watchmen packages. awesome deal, movie looks good.

went and got 2x 1600 point cards and 2x 1month cards to get 4 Watchmen packs total. The manager had to override the pack attached to the 2nd 1600 point card, but it worked. Now to punch them in, print out, and go to the theater before tuesday to get 8 tickets to the Friday 8pm show. whoohoo!!!

If it doesn't, you can always buy a 1600 point card instead and just redeem that for it.

Hey all,
Just got back from BB. Grabbed a 1600 pt. card and a 1 month live card for two sets of tickets. Funny thing, when I walked in and grabbed the cards, they didn't have the watchmen boxes out on the display, so I went and asked an employee. He looked at the ad and told me to hold on a minute because he had no idea about the promo.
Anyway, he goes in the back and they were back there still in the case unopened. He brought a bunch of them out and asked the other employee in the media/video game sectio why he didn't put them out.
Needless to say I am thrilled and can't wait for the movie, especially a free movie!
P.S. On another note, if you were to pick up one of the 5 dvd movies that were in the ad, which were The Matrix, Constantine, Matrix Revolutions(i think) or the Watchmen motion comic on DVD or Blu-ray, they only gave you a free ticket up to $7.50, which makes the Xbox 360 deal much better.
Don't know if anyone had mentioned it begore, if so, sorry for the repeat.

Some notes from having redeemed the ticket code.
1. It says really big on the Movie Money "check" that "This certificate is not valid at AMC Theaters". I don't think I've seen that specifically on one of the checks before. They are being very sure that you don't try any of that AMC shenanigans.
2. To activate/redeem the code on the website, it asks for a lot of personal info, but none of it appears to matter, because I did a second one with different info but the same e-mail address and it went through ok. Just give it gibberish to avoid winding up on a mailing list, though I don't know about giving it a fake e-mail addy, since that's your back-up if the printing doesn't work right the first time.
3. Did anybody else redeem it and notice that the mini-poster attached to the check seems to indicate that the cast has been changed and this will just be a Fast & The Furious sequel?
Just got back, 2 tickets and a month of xbox live for 8 bucks. Awesome. The employees were practically useless though.

If you got a 1600 point card for $7.99, best buy is the one that got screwed. If they didn't activate it, then you might just be screwed. Hopefully they can clear it up for you.

If your point card is in a blister pack, BB is screwed. Otherwise, you're SOL.
The blister packs are pre-activated in factory.

The Watertown, MA Best Buy store had no idea what I was talking about this morning. After wasting half an hour there, the Framingham, MA store had tons along with a 1600 card.
Tickets printed out fine, and if its not working so well, I'd suggest downloading the pdf and try opening it on a different computer. They give you a few days to re-download the pdf and try again. The only downside to these tickets is it seems like you have to show up for the theater and hope the screening you want to see isn't sold out. I much prefer to buy tickets online before driving out, so its just slightly inconvenient to me.
Here's an xbox code for the exclusive trailer for whoever redeems it first, if you'd rather watch it on your 360 instead of youtube.

03-01-2009, 11:06 PM
I was able to get one but Best Buy has no clue what the hell they are doing.
I called to make sure they had them, which they did. When I got there they were nowhere to be found so I approach the register with my Point card to purchase and ask for the box. The clerk left and returned with a member of the Media department(Who we know from previous trips to the store) who tried to tell me its not available until Tuesday. Which is half true. See there is a separate deal which is for buying one of 5 DVDs and you recieve the Tickets. This one of course is an entirely different promotion than the XBL one and is listed in the ad for Tuesday. So I turned to the page in the Ad with the correct promotion.
He then tries to tell me that the "XBL Products" that are available with this deal will be prepackaged with the Movie tickets or have a sticker on them or something and if they don't have any on the racks then they don't have any at all. This is of course ludicrous so I go to customer service and start telling them my story and the Media clerk comes running up and says he talked to someone who says They sold out, but just then the Clerk behind the customer service desk says "No dude, we have them right here" and pulls out one of the wrapped green 360 cases with the Watchmen art and bingo there it is. The media clerk then gets dumbfounded and asks "where did those come from?" He then apologized which I responded by telling him its not his fault because he did not know.
That's the problem with these big box retailers, different departments don't get important information about promotions passed around like they should and it ends up with Employees not being able to give the correct info to their customers.
Oh well, at least I got one.

Most of the content tends to be garbage. I know that the Dark Knight ones only have a 'behind the scenes video/commentary' on the film itself.

I got my two packs today and since the prices for movie tickets here are outrageous($9.50/person after 5PM and there are not any student discounts wtf) I am glad I got 4 tickets for $16.
My theatre is very fancy(they have a piano in the lobby, a coffee shop, ice cream shop, bar, and a pizza parlor) so for the ultrascreens, they have an upper part and a lower part. The upper part are the prime seats and for $1 extra, you can reserve those. The ultra screen is also $10.50 per person. I hope I am able to reserve those seats with my tickets because I know it will be sold out Friday night. I am going there tomorrow to do so.

I know the stores send out emails about this, if the section manager hasn't even heard about it ONE fucking DAY before it's set to start, something is wrong. I know they don't wait to tell their employees about it the day it 's set to start. It's ok though, just keep defending retail ineptitude.
The other guys explained this pretty well... If you're still not getting it, I guess that shows what kind of person you are. You definitely sound like someone who hasn't worked in retail. Or if you have, you mistakenly expect every place to run things the way that your job did. But that's not how life works.
Your story didn't include any employees being rude or unfair to you - you called them names simply for being regular people and not some jerky supernerd that thinks the world revolves around him. You should treat other people with more respect.

I just got back from BB, and they price-matched the 13-month Live card with Sears ($29.99) and let me have one of the Watchmen deals from the back even though they acknowledged they're not supposed to be out yet. All that plus Mercs 2 for $9.99 and a free collectible Watchmen Entertainment Weekly = CAGGASM!!!!
how did you get Mercs2 for $9.99 ??

No.....you don't have to do anything with your 360 to get the ticket certificates....you just need to go to a website, enter a code and print them out.

Man what a mission today to get the tickets. First I asked the young lady who was working around the game section to open up the glass case for some sweet points, well she handed me the 1600 pack and I casually asked her "so i get the watchmen tickets with this right?" know very well that of course I do silly. Not so much, I sidlined her apperantly, she blurted out that I would need to buy a system for the honor to have free whatever. She made me follow her to the current ad and I pointed out to her, right there, in bold letters the ad states that yes, in fact I am correct. Well she hesteted but bless her, she handed me the case so I was home free right? yeah right. I get to the box where the poor girl there looked as if she just woke up and did not know how much she hated being there that day. She rings up my points card and then the Watchmen box, a suprsing $24.99 charge comes up and my grand total is more then doubled what i had expected. I rolled my eyes internally and very politly pointed out that I actually get the little green DVD case for free. She asked me if I saw it in the ad and hands me the ad from LAST WEEK! I'm like, "nooo... in fact that is last weeks ad...(...)..." long silence. She asks her partner in crime in the register adjacent to her and that lady also, suprisgnly did not know what on God's green earth to do. Phone calls fly by, coverstations on those cool little shirt mics they have, me steping aside for 10 min and not holding up the one of two open registers open any longer. Needless to say I was a little .... whats the word, annoyed? Well some high authority was sent down from his gloriuous cove to make an executive decison and price adjust and make that little pesky $24.99 turn into a big $0. all the while i was entranced by this bizzare looping dvd of some psychadilic concert on a display nearby. Finally walking out with my points and tickets, I was finally happy. Oh and i saw 1 Wii sold with Wii fit, and Mario Kart Wii. All to people not usaully associated with the "gamer" image.

Man what a mission today to get the tickets...
I decided to order online to make sure I got mine. 2 point cards and watchmen packs ordered. 5 hours later still didn't receive a confirmation e-mail so I just headed up there and had them pick the items out then. I would've just said to hell with the order but I used RZ certificates to cut the cost in half. Guy grabs the items and rings me up. Afterwards I walk back there and laugh. There is a printed out piece of paper taped about the points cards and 5 or 6 more movie packs in stack behind other 360 stuff. Guess not a lot of people were aware of the deal going on.

Some notes from having redeemed the ticket code.
1. It says really big on the Movie Money "check" that "This certificate is not valid at AMC Theaters". I don't think I've seen that specifically on one of the checks before. They are being very sure that you don't try any of that AMC shenanigans.

These do NOT work at showcase cinemas. On hollywoodmoviemoney.com it lists the theater, but I just tried redeeming the code and it doesn't come up in the list. I sent them an e-mail and got this reply:
Unfortunately, Showcase Cinemas has chosen to not participate in this promotion. picked mine up sunday after getting there right at opening and bee lining for the checklane with my Dark Knight 1600 point card. the girl had to leave for about 10 min to see how to get me the pack. she said she found a whole box in the very back, probably on purpose by some shady employees. she didn't think the point card would work and tried to get me to buy the one month card, but i told her the point card should work and it did. "exclusive" content sucks ass, no "behind the scenes" footage, just a clip of night owl and rorshach flying to Ozymandias' fortress. $24 is nice, counts towards most of a couple IMAX tickets though...

^ I'll be using my points on Puzzle Quest: Galactrix once it releases on XBLA.
I already bought my Watchmen tickets a week and a half ago, but I printed out the coupon last night. I'm headed back to the theater to return the tickets I bought and then rebuy them with the coupon, but the show is sold out! I'll probably need to talk to a manager to do the whole thing, but I hope they don't give me any trouble.
If worst comes to worst, remember that a movie ticket that is not ripped by the usher can be exchanged for free passes in the future (I can verify this for Regal Cinemas, not sure about other theater chains). So what I can do is get another set of Watchmen tickets that I don't plan on using and then just exchanging them for tickets to the next movie I go see, whatever it may be.

Damn.... just converted mine to Fandango bucks, that's rad. My buddy is dead-set on going to a special screening put on by a local comic shop, so I wound up not being able to use my certificate anyway; this was a great way to still utilize it!
It's worth noting that the fine print on the movie money certificate reads:
"Attempts to use this code for anything other than a movie theater admission or to use it after the expiration date will result in denial of the transaction. It will also be deemed fraud by the sponsor and will subject the user to all penalties allowed by law."
However, I'd think that since buying Fandango Bucks is essentially buying theater admission, then this ought to be fine, legally speaking.
Pretty awesome tip, thanks!

Not only is it fraud, but it's also not going to work--in order to get your tickets at the theatre, they're going to treat the print out like a credit card, and you'll be denied since you've already redeemed it.

Fandango has been added to the original post. I still think I'm going to just use the normal certificate though because 2 tickets w/ Fandango convenience = $28, so I'd still have to pay $8 out of pocket. My $24 would make my $25 tickets cost $1 out of pocket meaning I could get my girl some snacks for sitting through my 3 hour superhero movie :)

I bought a 1600 pts card + the deal online and did in-store pickup. My credit card statement shows that BB charged me $19.99... but they also refunded me 1 penny. No idea.

Is there confirmation that the Fandango thing works upon redemption?
CombatCraig
03-03-2009, 03:41 PM
Well I got excited about the Fandango thing because the only theater around here that takes Hollywood Movie Money sucks, but apparently the AMC I wanted to go to doesn't do online tickets with Fandango (...weird, they must have some deal with movietickets.com or something) so oh well I'm glad I didn't try the Fandango thing yet. So just a heads up, double check on Fandango before you redeem!!!
I'll just go to the crappy theater anyways and use my 1600 points card for Rock Band/GH

What does this mean?
Read this print:
"In order to pick up your tickets at the theater, you must present the physical credit card. The account number embossed on your credit card must match the numbers entered during this purchase."
So how are you going to provide a physical credit card?

I picked up another 1600 points/Watchmen ticket pack at my local BB. I think I might have picked up the last one at the Brookpark store since I had to scour the Xbox aisle and I found one on a shelf face out as if it was an Xbox 360 game. The skinny chick at the counter when she rang up the deal asked me twice if I wanted to get their new $3.99 scratch deal on video games and I kept on telling her "It's not a game" - but she told me again all about the deal. And then she realized it wasn't a game. {snicker}

I already bought tickets for Watchmen like a week and a half ago and didn't want to bother with getting a refund and then buying the tickets again with the coupon like I originally planned. So what I did was I used the coupon for some other showing that I have no intention of going to. I'll hold onto the tickets and just exchange them for some other movie I end up going to in the future. I confirmed with the cashier that as long as the tickets are not torn, this'll work.

Interesting. The 7.99 one month live card has a "watchmen bonus pack" check mark, but does not show up when you do the offer....
However, if you add the watchman bonus with a 3 month card, while a 1 month live card is in your cart... then remove the 3 month card... you are effectively getting it for 7.99 w/ in store pick up? Great, considering the store here shut me down trying to get it with a 1 month card in person. *shrug*

For fuck's sake...
I walk into Best Buy today. They have absolutely no Xbox Live subscription cards and hardly any MS points cards except for the Fallout 3 1600-point and GTA IV 4000-point ones. Okay, fine. I take a Fallout 3 card and the Watchmen case up to the register. Of course, the Watchmen box rings up at full price. I try to explain to the cashier that it's supposed to be free with any Xbox Live product, and I point the promotion out to her in the weekly ad that was lying on the counter. She looks at the ad and tries to convince me that it (the promotion) is only valid starting 3/6/09. I try to convince her that it is referring to the date you can redeem the movie tickets because that's when the fucking movie opens, and does not refer to the date that this promotion is valid. She wouldn't budge. I left empty-handed. If it was a guy, I might have argued a little more forcefully, but that's beside the point.
If I try again on Friday, there should be no problem... right? Hahaha... Something tells me they'll probably be all out of those Fallout 3 cards by then, and even if they aren't, it will obviously ring up at full price again on the register because the Fallout 3 cards don't qualify for this or something. Seeing how they barely had any Xbox Live products in stock at all, I am sure that many people have successfully done this earlier in the week. If they still had any of the Xbox Live membership cards or any of the regular points cards in those huge plastic cases, maybe this would have worked. Maybe it's my fault for waiting until Tuesday to go there. Goddammit.

Then if im not burned out ill either call or write corporate. Why the fuck could they just not say that limited edition live materials are not included. It normally takes a lot to piss me off, but they accomplished it. Might I also add I hate best buy. Mainly just for their name because they are rarely if ever actually the best buy on an item. That being said this deal is pretty awesome.

Same here, I hate shopping there. I would say 90% of the time I go to BB for a deal, it's either conspicuously absent (as was the case at 2 BB's this week with the Watchmen boxes), or they find some idiotic reason to deny the discount/exclude the purchase from that particular coupon/refuse the PM/etc.
I think the last decent deal I got at BB was a discount on Crysis after it first came out, and I had to get the manager involved to get that, because the $10 off all games coupon somehow, according to the staff, didn't apply to computer games. They'll be happy to hard-sell you on a 3-year service plan for a pack of gum, though.

Did either of you wait until the cashier hit the 'total' button before freaking out?
Whenever BB has a package deal/Rewards Zone deal, the full price is charged. When the cashier hits the 'Total' button, an on-screen pop-up asks if the package item is present. When the cashier hits 'Yes', the free item, discount comes off.
IF the cashier pressed 'No' at the pop-up screen, they are effectively blocking the advertised sale and you have a reason to complain. If you are freaking out because you saw the item ring up as $25 and not $0, you need to relax.
Remember, you can walk away from the transaction at anytime. ;)

Redeemed the coupon for my tickets. It was a bitch though. The theater atttendant kept arguing with me. Saying that you can't use vouchers on this movie even though it fucking says that you can on the ticket. Then they tried to tell me that ths promotion must not apply to this theater even though it showed up as one of my options when I was redeeming the code for the coupon. Picked up 1600 points and my pack today. There were still a bunch in the Union, NJ store. And as other posters have said, such deals at BB don't register until they total the transaction, so don't get jumpy until then. I think it's a great deal. A year of XBL the cheapest retails for around $30 online. For an extra $20 you get the chatpad and PRG4 game, plus another wired headset - also throwing in 2 free movie tickets sweetens the deal.

Is it possible to get an employee to register this deal in-store on an item that's technically Live related but isn't on their list of qualifying items?
I'd really like to grab The Lost and Damned (I want the poster) and there's nothing else I really need at the moment but TL&D isn't on their list of qualifying items.
I was hoping I could just bring it up to the counter and be like "Hey, this is a Live product so doesn't it qualify?" and whoever's working customer service will be nice enough or not care enough to let it slide.

Thanks, a friend of mine went to a few today. The website clearly said he could go there but the ticket says it loud and clear. Shame they didnt update the website.

Yep.
I went to the one in the North and Sheffield plaza and picked up one with 1600 point card (which I didn't need but there's always GHWT DLC and Castle Crashers).

Did either of you wait until the cashier hit the 'total' button before freaking out?
Hahahaha... oh wow.
Remember, you can walk away from the transaction at anytime. ;)
Do you talk to all your friends like they're three years old, too? Do you regularly insult the intelligence of everyone you converse with? Thanks for the tips, bro. ;)

I picked up the Watchmen pack last night. They had a ton of 1600 and 4000 point cards, and maybe two Watchmen packs left on a table. The employee even mentioned I could buy anything with a Live logo on it, but I opted to spend $20 on a points card anyway because I'll use it.
At the register, the cashier says that'll be $47 and change. I was like no, this should be free, and opened up the ad. She looks at it for half a second, and says "it's only free if you buy an Xbox console."
I laughed and said "no it's for any Live product, read it."
She kept trying to deny it, and then called a manager who said "Oh yeah, just override it. We have had this problem all day."
I left happy.

Man, I just opened my sealed Watchmen pack from Best Buy, only to find out that the code had already been used by someone named 'Sam'. I contacted customer support, of course, and hopefully they respond appropriately.

wow, sorry to hear that. How did you know that the person's name is Sam? Did it tell you that when you put it in at the activaterewards site?

yep, but people are having trouble finding the pack in stores now. looks like you can't order online for in-store pickup anymore either. 2 BB's near me were sold out, and I left only 2 at the 3rd I checked.

I just went to a Best buy close to me. They had only one 1600 point card, but had a bunch of 4000 point cards and live subscriptions. I got the 1600 points and picked up the movie pack as well.
Went up to the cashier and she rung both items up. She told me it rang up to $46. I told her about the deal and by the time I finished she said "oh my fault, the computer just ringed it up to 19.99." ;) LOL took 10 seconds for the cash register to accept the deal, but everything after that went smooth.
Also there were about 2-3 watchmen movie pack left. I might go back there early next week for some more tickets and points.:D
