Well, i'd bet they wouldn't give me two tickets for buying an 800 MS point card, so it'd be nice if anyone has more details on this. It sounds cool, though, and i'm going to the movie either way ;).

Is there a link to this on Best Buy website? This is pretty sweet for the fact that you get two movie tix and not just one, makes it a deal, cuz yea two movie tix pretty much cost as much as the points.

Hi guys,
I've never posted anything here before so sorry if I screw this up. I did search and didn't see it posted.

I was browsing xbox live and noticed they have a bevy of content promoting Watchmen, which I'm stoked for (as I'm sure many CAGs are, too). Under the Spotlight menu item, I found a Watchmen promo in slot 5 of 8. When checking out the content I found this:

Unfortunately, this is all the info I've been able to find about it. Couldn't find anything after some quick googling. Thought I'd post it here to give you guys the heads up, see if anyone knows anything more.

If I could pick up 2 tickets for purchasing some MS points or a LIVE subscription card, I'm in. 2 tickets to a film in NYC is like $25 AND free content? Could be a great deal.
The only real problem with this is the date the tickets are valid. In my area, new releases do not allow any form of passes for the first 2-3 weeks of the release. Therefore those pass would be worthless in my city.

If it's MovieCash (which is what usually comes packed in older version of movies when the new one comes out, etc.) it's considered the same as a gift certificate or cash and will work anywhere.

I almost posted this earlier but didn't cuz I didn't want to get yelled at for posting a deal for a non-game product in this forum. (i.e. There's no game deal, just free tickets and downloads.)

I wonder if they only mean Live Gold and Points cards because if GTA IV: The Lost and Damned qualifies, I'm on it like crack hos on crack, yo!

It's either because it's not active yet (sounds like it'll occur one day only to me) or M$ decided they want to keep it a secret to all non-360 players.

I also wonder if these will be for select theaters (Excluding ones like AMC).

I know that I was all happy to get something like this a while back and found out that AMC blows and they never sign up/allow a lot of this stuff. Stupid AMC

I wonder if the content will be a decent theme a la GoW2 theme from GS. That would be me happy in the pants....

Moviecash is a check, deposited just like a traveller check. If they tell you no on moviecash at a large theater chain, ask for a manager. If it's a single theater, they may actually not take them. Usually there is a list of eligible theater chains attached to the check somewhere.

I used to work at an AMC in Southern California.
We didn't take anything unless it was AMC specific.
They still don't.
This includes movie cash.
I recommend calling the theatre before you go and talk to a manager. Whether or not they will take it depends on the management staff.
Movie theatres will do whatever they can to make you pay full price for a ticket.

Most of them specifically say on them "same as cash/good for no pass showings" or something to that effect. If it does and they don't except them, you need to talk to either the theatre manager, or the corporate management.

To the post directly above me, usually MovieCash shows all the chains that are supposed to accept it. If AMC is on the list and they won't accept it then I would have a beef I would raise holy hell about.

50-75% of the movies I go to are with MovieCash from buying a DVD/Blu-Ray/game, last one being Quantum of Solice at the midnight opening.

FYI STL is dominated by the Wehrenberg chain, although there are a few AMC's and a new independent chain theatre in Fenton. I usually go to the Wehrenberg theatres.

I got screwed by an AMC - was formerly a Star Theater and didn't realize they'd been taken over - with Movie Cash once. I'd gotten some non-movie-specific (i.e. it wasn't for a particular movie like these Watchmen ones) and swung in to catch a flick and got ganked. Can't remember what I saw, but it wasn't worth the $17 it cost me. Lame.

The AMC in Woodland Hills will not.

CONFIRMED. I picked up one of these in store today. It rang up at $24.99(maybe because the deal is not supposed to start until the first), but they were quick to price adjust it to $0.01. The tickets are redeemable via Hollywood Movie Money which is accepted by all of the theaters in my area. The packaging clearly states ANY Xbox Live Product, so I grabbed a 1600 point card. Thanks OP.

Also guys, if it's HollywoodMovieMoney:

Your Hollywood Movie Money and Hollywood Concession Money certificates will be accepted at any participating theater at any show time. Your Hollywood Movie Money is valid for any film of your choice unless there is a specific movie listed on the admission certificate. (Please note, expired tickets cannot be accepted or replaced.)

Can't find a participating theater within 30 miles? No problem. Just go to the theater closest to you, pay to see the movie and send us your receipt and the original certificate. After verification we will reimburse you.

Did a theater mistakenly turn you away? No problem. Just send us your certificates along with the theater manager/employee name, the theater you attended, and the date and time it happened. After verification we will reimburse you.

Refunds/reimbursements MUST be postmarked within (1) week of the certificates expiration date in order for them to be honored. Please be advised that if you were turned away from the theater because your ticket was expired you will not be eligible for a refund.

Send to: Hollywood Movie Money, Attn: Theater Relations, 926 Incline Way, Suite 200, Incline Village, NV 89451 or send us an email.

So you guys in areas where there are no participating theatres, it's like a mail-in-rebate.

Although, I was wondering about the promo code space right next to the zip code, does that have anything to do with whether or not my results will accept the certificates(if so anyone have the promo code)??? The deal works as of now, though you may have to get an overide for it to go through. I bought the 1600 point card and took the green box for the Watchmen stuff up to the cashier. It rang up at $25 for the tickets and I told her it comes free with Live products and she told me I was wrong (way to know how to read since it says it on the box and I showed it to her). She called over a manager and he said "Yeah, that's right" and overrode it. Then I had a nice discussion with him about how stupid their staff is and don't even know what the deals in the store are, but I digress.

Anyway, it might take a little work to get the deal before March 1, but just don't take BB's shit.

The value of the tickets is $12 each. You also have to print them out after entering a code at a website, which is strange because before they already came in the box.

It also works with any Live product, even the one month subscription cards (which is dumb on BB's part, pay $9 for the card and get $24 in movie tickets free). If I like the movie I am going back and picking up one of those just to get the free tickets to go again.

On the shelves was a 360 game box that says Watchmen Movie Pack. In the box is a coupon for Watchmen downloadable content and then there is a small coupon with a redemption code to go www.ActivateRewards.com/watchmen where you can redeem your tickets and print a certificate which you can present at the box office. Hope that helps.

Went to the website and almost every theater in my area came up. Although, I was wondering about the promo code space right next to the zip code, does that have anything to do with whether or not my results will accept the certificates(if so anyone have the promo code)??? It seemed like the search was only giving me the cinemas in my area. Just though you would know the answer since you provided the link... thanx

I suspect that most chains either take them or they don't (ie, it is not handled on a movie by movie basis) and only handful of theaters around me take this specific brand of certificate (there are a couple different companies that do this certificate thing and some theaters chains take one but not another). But I'm not sure I've used these guys in the past...the theater list I got was similar to that I got with the quantum of solace certificate I got on a James Bond Blu-ray....so I'm not 100% positive if the promo code makes a difference or not.

And as pointed out by someone else, there is always mail in rebate option as well if you have problems.

But for those folks who have actually gotten it and printed the thing out, is the certificate good for two tickets (ie, you get one certificate good for two tickets) or do you get two certificates with each certificate good for one ticket?

Looks like no AMC theater in my area accepts the tickets. Too bad 'cause they have weekend before-noon showings for $6. I can't stand Pacific and their terrible screen and reel maintenance, and Mann is getting closer and closer to seeming like a second-run joint. Guess I'll be headed to the Arclight even though they're more expensive...

Just came back from BB and no watchmen tickets for me :(. First the guy said that they weren't allowed to give it out until Sunday and then he changed his story to "we didn't get any in yet". In anycase, I couldn't find them anywhere in the store so they were probably hiding them in the back or something.

Guess I have to come back on Sunday...

Ok, I work at Best Buy in the media department and we have them and can confirm via the supervisor of the department that they will work with ANY Xbox Live product. I myself will get the 1 month card for $8 and thus eligible for the Watchmen stuff.

FYI...the in store database for the store lists that these cases are not suppose to be out will 3-1-09. So the stores that have them out are breaking the street date. Thus if you go in and they dont have them try back then. The codes do not work for the ticket until 3-6-09 so some store may hold off until then (this is what my store is doing)

Cheers.

Well, that's a game, so I don't think that would work. I am assuming that by "Xbox Live product" they mean items under the Xbox Live category on the website, meaning points, membership cards, and so forth.

Oh, believe me, I'd love it if that worked. Or at least on something like the Lost and Damned DLC package - one could argue that's purely an "Xbox Live product", just in a box. Alas, I doubt it would work either.

The package says "exclusive sneak peek of the film, as well as movie trailers and behind-the-scenes footage." But when I used the redemption code, it simply downloaded one clip from the movie. There was nothing except that. Some behind-the-scenes videos and the movie trailer have been up on XBL since Comic Con last year, and those files were already on my HDD. Perhaps that's all they were referring to.

There are several posts discussing what the coupons are in the first few pages. Might want to look again.

It is Hollywood movie cash
You can look up what theaters accept it at the Hollywood movie cash website.

http://www.hollywoodmoviemoney.com/theaters
(http://www.hollywoodmoviemoney.com/theaters)
Seems to me most everyone takes it except most AMC theaters.

IF a theater is listed on the site but refuses you, there is a process to get your money back for the tickets.

If there is no theater that accepts within 30 miles of your home, there is a process where you can just get money, like a mail in rebate.

Both are detailed here:

Actually, that's what I did, too. If they give you a problem, you can just return the points card and then buy it again.

Thanks, darthballz.

I haven't printed mine out yet but its similar to the Quantum of Solace promo that they ran when you bought the 007 Blu-Rays.

It's a code, you go online, and print out your tickets.

Thanks. I'm just wondering if it reads "Admit Two" or if there are 2 different tickets that read "Admit One".

Same deal with the Best Buy at the South Bay Center in Boston, MA. Got mine no problem, thanks for the tips my CAG homies. The code cannot actually be redeemed until tomorrow, so I don't know if it's a single 2-admission ticket or two single-admission tickets.

The only one that sounds like a douchebag in that situation is you. :(

I went to the BB in Westland, MI and had an amusing conversation with an employee. I checked around and they didn't have them anywhere (but they still had some Xbox1 games, surprisingly). I asked an employee, and he said "You mean the digital graphic novel? That comes out on Tuesday." I tried to explain what I meant, and he said, "Well, whatever it is, it comes out on Tuesday."

I'll stop back by tomorrow and see if they magically appear...

So the free tickets is really just a $24 value to redeem on the hollywood site? So theoretically could you use these tickets to see another movie instead of Watchmen?

Is there an expiration date on when you have to use these free tickets? I wasnt sure if the OP details meant you have to buy a XBL product within that time period or you have to use your tickets by then.

Thanks. I'm just wondering if it reads "Admit Two" or if there are 2 different tickets that read "Admit One".

I'm wondering this as well. I actually have a deal with a friend, as I owe him some money for buying the Mirror's Edge DLC, and told him I'd give him a ticket to Watchmen and keep one ticket for myself, but that might be difficult as we'll be about 300 miles apart when it comes out.

I did manage to pick it up today regardless, in conjunction with a 1600 point card. It's too bad they don't sell 800 point cards, or I would've snagged that. Wanted to get Braid before the offer expires, but wanted to get the Watchmen deal too. Oh well, I guess if anything I'll use the extra 800 points toward buying Lost and the Damned.

And apparently this offer is valid for a heck of a long time. The redemption website says the offer expires 5/31/09, so I'm not sure if that's the last day the tickets are valid, or just the last day the offer can be claimed. Annoying though that it won't let me redeem the code until midnight PST as I have a friend coming through tomorrow to claim his ticket.

He's right. You shouldn't expect an employee to know about this promo before it happens, just because you found this on here through someone who found it on XBL. They'll know about it tomorrow when they need to. And anyway they could've denied the promo to you anyway since it doesn't technically start until tomorrow anyway. He's right, you're the douchebag.

For those wanting to go to the Westwood, CA store, I don't think they'll have it. I asked the guys in Media about it tonight and they didn't know and they said they didn't get anything for it. If you plug in your zipcode on the above link, you can find out what theaters nearby you that take the certificates. For my area, I've found that the theaters that take hollywood movie money (when compared to those who take movie cash) are fewer and far in between, so this is something you definitely want to check out first before getting pumped up about this deal.

By the way, in case some of you don't feel like going to Best Buy, shipping was free for me (I'm in NY) for 1600 points and a Watchmen Movie Pack. Also, if any of the employees give you grief about it being limited to one per person (that's what it says in the ad), you can order online and buy one in the store.

Also, I can't figure out if those DVDs with the movie money in them (Matrix and Constantine) are available today or on Tuesday? Is it actually inside the DVD case or is it just something BB will give me if I buy some old copy of Constantine DVD (great movie BTW)?

I know the stores send out emails about this, if the section manager hasn't even heard about it ONE fucking DAY before it's set to start, something is wrong. I know they don't wait to tell their employees about it the day it 's set to start. It's ok though, just keep defending retail ineptitude.

Without being profane or rude, I'd like to point out that it's not uncommon for retail stores to have daily staff meetings prior to opening so they can brief them on new promotions or any other information starting that day. I've been in many of those in my time.

It actually makes sense. If there's 100 or so promos going on Saturday that aren't going on Sunday, why fill their heads with 200 promos of information ("this is good today, this is good tomorrow, don't get 'em mixed up" x 100 etc)?

This Watchmen deal is the only deal that matters... TO US. Best Buy has a ton of specials every single week, and it makes sense as a company retail outlet to inform their employees of *current* deals. If their employees know of future deals it's more than likely from them being members of CAG.

And I definitely have experienced retail ineptitude myself (hello Circuit City... and goodbye), but I don't agree with this being a case of it.

So if you want something to be angry about, I recommend picking something else.

As it stands, THANK YOU CAG / OP for pointing this deal out. In for 2!

Hmmm cause when I looked up my area one of the theaters that accepted HMM has an IMAX screen. Might have to just give them a call later today.

This is directly from the FAQ on the Hollywood Movie Money site:

What movie is my ticket good for?Your ticket is either good for a specific movie, or any movie. Either way your ticket is valid for any showing, any time, even for movies listed as "no coupons / no passes".

#1. As for a gift receipt
#2. Redeem the 2 Ticket Movie code
#3. Go watch movie
#4. use Gift receipt to return any unwanted products.

Hence free movies at no cost.

You'll quickly earn a poor reputation around here with posts like this.

On top of that, the website says they'll refund you if a theater won't take the passes:

First, make sure that your ticket is not expired and that you went to a participating theater listed on this site. If the theater has mistakenly not accepted your ticket, please contact us (http://www.hollywoodmoviemoney.com/contact/index/Support). Or, you can mail your Hollywood Movie Money ticket and theater receipt along with a letter of explanation to Hollywood Movie Money Attn: Theater Relations 926 Incline Way, Suite 200 Incline Village, NV 89451. Please address the envelope to the attention of "Acceptance Guarantee Department". Upon receipt we will review your request and, if appropriate, reimburse you for the amount you paid at the theater up to the value indicated on your Hollywood Movie Money ticket.

It looks like you can't. I'm not 100% certain as I don't want to risk screwing it up yet, but when I tried to redeem my code, it asks me for my zip code and on the next screen tells me to choose the theater I'll be attending. That gives me the impression that you're tied down to two people at one theater, so the tickets are probably not individual, since you'd think there might be an option for multiple theaters, or just no choice at all.

When you print it you just choose a theatre and input personal information. You don't pick a time or date - just present them at the box office. These certificates are essentially virtual credit card numbers at the bottom (only redeemable at the theatres, no where else)

Shame the 800 pts card doesn't seem to be valid for this promotion. Oh well. $10 for 800 points and two movie tickets would've been nice.

Did an in-store pickup order for a 1600 points card and the promo pack, plus Ultimate Genesis Collection and American Gangster on BR (which was on-sale for $14.99 right now), as I had $60 worth of RZ certs and promo codes burning a hole in my pocket.
