Do you think it could ever be made into a game and if so would they do it in the same style of the comics ( cell shading id assume) with an option to play in black and white or in color? if they did itd definelty give the RE series a run for its money depending on how much they lean towards realism.

I think more importantly, it should be made into a TV series. Think about how awesome that would be. There's been nothing like a tv series based in a zombie apocalypse yet.

id like to see that happen too but itd need to be on a cable channel due to the amount of violence. i remember a while back there was a rumor about hbo looking to do a zombie series but nothing came of it. hel even if they did it animated the way they did spawn back in the day that would be great to see.

I don't think The Walking Dead would make a very good game, since the zombies are the slow moving variety, they rarely encounter them in large groups and they spend a large amount of time in the comics in a really safe zombie free location.

if youre thinking of a straight up action game yeah but if you make it deeper ( item searching /management, searching for goods and weapons, choosing who to allow into your party, scuring areas to live in , keeping up group morale) things of that nature. i have yet to play a zombie game that really goes into what itd really be to survive in a dead world hell even most moves dont this series if done right would be cool to play but as a 100% action game no.

They could go that route with a Walking Dead game (and you're right, it would work better then a pure action game) but I would imagine it would be pretty much impossible to sell that type of zombie game to a publisher.

true and with things as bas as they are on an economic level i doubt anyone wants to take a chance on it. im sure fans of the comic and zombie story/movie fans would be on board but itd definelty be a risky venture. maybe someday.

Walking Dead wouldn't ever work as a game because what makes the comic so great are the characters. You can't possibly capture Rick's journey from waking up in a coma to all the events after the prison and make it into an action game. Maybe something on line with Indigo Prophecy kind of game, but hard to sell a zombie game where it's based more on story then pure action.

it wouldnt work well as a game for casual gamers but if you go into the characters and add in alot f detail from the stories as well as increasing the realism in the game ( meaning headshots to kill, infection is death , the need to eat and drink and rest). just like in the stories you have to do what you can to survive and if youre in a group you have to use everyones skills and abilities to help the group as well as lok out for those who are helpless.

if anything you could do the story from the comics and start out with just rick and follow the story from start to finish and use that as a learning tool for an online mode where people can create their own charcters and try to survive in the dead world. all in all i just want to really play a zombie based game that really adheres to what makes zombie stories great.

Reading this made me think "Man, they should totally make an Oregon Trail...WITH ZOMBIES!"

I can't really imagine a zombie sim that followed "real" world rules being any fun. Characters would be starving 24/7 leading to hunting or ransacking houses all the time for just a little more food . You mention head shots to kill but where are you getting bullets from? Is the party walking everywhere or managing to drive still (which attracts attention of course) , it just would turn into a gigantic babysitting experience better known as "Protect the dumbass." Until the story wraps up one day and a clear ending is told I don't think a game about it would work. Would just be overly tedious and outright depressing as your party is butchered despite the time and energy that went into trying to just feed and look after them.

I think that would sort of be the point. Zombie... art I suppose is almost universally depressing and hopeless. That being said, escort/defense missions are videogame AIDS to me so as much as I like the idea of a Walking Dead game, it might not be something that I would personally enjoy.

Also if there were to be one it can't follow the adventure of Rick and crew. Since the story is slow paced and I don't know what you can really do for gameplay once you get to the jail or even to the farm. If anything if it revolved around a separate group of survivors it may work, while taking some of the things Kirkman has established. Like if you want to risk trying to capture a zombie and chain it up so you won't be attacked or do you risk going into a zombie infested town for supplies with just the stench to support you. Though once more, how to handle the actual gameplay seems so complicated when it's about actual survival of yourself and those around you versus how many zombies you can kill.
