pretty good deal. seeing as the standard version is $30 at B&M stores (sometimes it goes to $20 at best buy or target). if you don't have this and enjoy epic space battles, this would be a good buy for you.

damn, that's a good price. I was able to hold off when Target had it for 20 bucks, but this deal since there is no tax and its the CE I might have to bite.
EDIT Update: F it, I got it.

I'm tempted, but I hear this game doesn't have a single player campaign or something like that?
Anyone that has played it have some insight?

1. It has no story mode, but it does have a single player mode. Enough of a single player mode to teach you the basics, give you some fun (there are some huge battles to be had), and keep you entertained for a long time with random map generators and HUGE maps.
2. Its primarily a multiplayer game, though. It is awesome in that mode.
3. It has no DRM. Go stardock.
4. Buy it already!
5. If all of this hasn't convinced you, watch the Gametrailers video review (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31207.html?type=).

Bump for IGN's PC GOY, not that it matters, but just to give you an example of how wide of crowd this appeals to. I canceled my best buy order and just got this instead.

I just rebuilt my home PC yesterday and have been eyeing this for a while so I guess I need to pick this up.

I have to resist this deal because I'm swimming in backlogged games and I frankly suck at both 4X (have Gal Civ II and can't suss how to play it) and RTS games (have Empire at War and C&C3 on my laptop laughing at me), so SoaSE would be just $20 more tossed on the fire of my lameness. Good deal for others, though.

good thing i didn't open my sins of a solar empire copy i bought from best buy a couple weeks ago. ordered this collector's edition and will go return the regular version to best buy tonight. doesn't seem like much more in the collector's edition, but for the same price, why not...

I really want this game but it's shy of the free shipping offer. Trying to find a 6 dollar HD DVD to help me get there.

if I buy this can I activate it on Impulse so I can just download it? or would I have to play off the disc?

Can anyone recommend a good 6 dollar add on? Any good DVD or Games sales I could use to get free shipping.

This is correct. I did this with my retail copy and it's not associated with my Impulse account. Just so everybody here knows, you need an Impulse account to get the patches for this game. For those of you who hate installing a third party client, you only need to have impulse open to download the patches. You don't have to have it open to run the game unlike steam.

Hmmm, tempting.
So does no DRM mean I can install it on two computers and play with someone else at the same time?

Any of the DVDs that Best Buy has on sale for $6.99 this week should have the same price on Amazon or at least they did for the titles I checked.

Great post, I have this (from the $20 Target deal I think) and many other RTS games (with DoW2 on order) and I really need to take the time to actually sit down and learn what I'm doing.

I don't have the license in front of me, but I highly doubt it is legal to do so.

Out of the box there's no serial key needed so that will probably work no problem. I'm not 100% sure with the patched version since you need to get patches through Impulse but I suspect you can do what you are asking. Unlike Steam after updating the game through their client you can run the game directly without having to start up another program.

This is listed as "untradeable" on goozex, I believe it has an issue w/ 1 time only CD keys.... not true DRM but this means you either buy it new and keep it forever or not.
BTW it's OOS now. "will ship in 2-4 weeks" great price tho, i may have to bite..and I just bought that SR2 CE a few days ago... damn it

I'm in the same boat, I like RTS games but suck at them. I got the Civ IV pack on steam for xmas, I have SupCom, and the entire first DOW collection loaded on my PC. But my backlog is so big I can't seem to find time to play them.
Yeah, I know my life sucks huh?

This kinda motivated me to pick it up, since I won't find it cheaper unless it's at retial. 20 for a LE/CE is fine with me.

That's not a bad idea 52club. I picked it up as well, along with Myst V to enable the free shipping. It seems like I'm the only one that enjoys these adventure puzzle games anymore. Anyone else like the Myst series?

Anyone try the new mini-expansion pack?
Also, I think they're supposed to add a scripted campaign in a future expansion. Last I read, Stardock/Ironclad will release three expansions for $10/each.

I bit, figured 2-4 weeks would be plenty of time to check out the demo and cancel if necessary.
a little confusing at the start, but now I'm regretting that I'll have to wait 2-4 weeks. Now I'd pay $20 just to remove the demo time limit =P
