Most of the stuff on that reward system is WAY overpriced so I did a search and found a lot of XBLA games for 1,000 points. When I put them in my cart it showed an automatic shipping discount that knocked %60 off the price. So each game came out to be 400 points. Really good deal if you are looking to spend some points and don't want to get taken advantage of. Maximize the deal by ordering games that are more expensive like Castle Crashers.

1. Have to have thank you points (ie points through a citi bank credit card)
2. Have to add at least 2 games
3. "Shipping discount" increases with a max of %60 off
1 game - 1000 pts
2 games - 1400 pts - 700 pts per game
3 games - 1800 pts - 600 pts per game
4 games - 2000 pts - 500 pts per game

holy crap, I didn't even know that I was building up these "points." I had 26,000 of the suckers.



You can use that 26k for $ 250 gift card to BestBuy..

10k for $ 100 and 6k for $50

Or it's good for 1 RT ticket within USA with the fixed flight point (you need to pay for tax).

I used 80k point to get a RT ticket to Singapore and pay about $ 300 taxes, normally $ 1300. One of the best deall ever.

I use my Citi card for just about everything so I have tons of points. Usually, I pawn them off in 10K increments for Sears/Kmart $100 GC. I guess shlepping off 8K points for 20 XBLA games, including the high priced Penny Arcade eps, is just as good ;).

This has to be the best deal in a while. I was trying to find something to spend points on the other day and had noticed that they had removed all the $100 giftcards, forcing you to spend 6000 points for a $50 card instead of 10000 for $100. They also just increased my APR by 8% and stopped my 5x points, so I'll be closing my account very soon. Personally, I don't think screwing the customers with decent credit, is going to help citibank make more money.

Same here. They've recently jacked it up to about 17%. 2% more than it was when I first got my card about 3.5 years ago, when things were much better. Since then, I have never gone over my limit, and never missed a payment. I got several credit cards on the chopping block, and until this, it was one I was going to keep. Not sure anymore, but with this deal, maybe I could work something out as long as I pay it off during the grace period.

you need to register through the Thank You Network webpage even though you're already enrolled in the program. When you register it will ask you for your citibank accounts (credit card, checking account, etc...) and then it will add up all your points and create an account for you.

The Thank You program is a different account then your credit card. I just discovered that a few minutes ago. You have to make an account to use your Thank You points.

Wowie Wow! Thanks tanman! I had a bunch of Thank You Points sitting around and I never would have noticed this deal without your post. I normally use my points for gift cards too, but this deal is WAY better. I loaded up on the 800 and 1200 points XBLA games for a fraction of the points. I really hope this goes through and they don't end up cancelling everyone's orders.

To the poster above: I couldn't log in either and had to call the 800 number, and they fixed the problem in less than 5 minutes of call time! Was very impressed I wasn't on hold for 15 minutes. But, yeah if you're calling from out of the country those might be some high long distance fees depending on your service provider..

anyways, too bad you have to buy so many to get the discount. i only really would want one or two, but then that's not much of a deal.

on a side note: doing the economic math it appears that buying 4 is the best from a buy the least, get the most savings point of view. and buying 7 obviously being the most saving overall. buy 1 -> 1000 points, 2nd game is only 400 more, 3rd game is another 400 more, but the 4th game is only 200 more than the 3rd, but then the 5th and 6th games are 500 more each, with the 7th being 200 less than 6

Yeah sorry if I wasn't clear in my other post, but THAT's the part I'm having trouble with.

When I try to register a ThankYou account, it asks me to enter my first name, last name, zip code, phone number, and the last 4 digits of my social to check if I have a "Valid ThankYou Sponsor Account".

But upon entering all of my info (correctly!), I keep getting this message:

In for this, thanks. I got 7 games, 6 for me, 1 for a friend. I usually wait for 6,000 points for a $50 Amazon.com giftcard, but 2,800 points for 7 games is much better. They were all games I kind of wanted to play, but not for $10 - $15. Comes to about $23.50 in points, so each game was about $3.34.

I have a Citibank Checkings and Money Market Account (savings) and get about 6,000 points a year at ThankYou. Not great, but better than nothing, although the MMA gets a terrible interest rate. In terms of cash back on credit cards, my Chase Freedom card is great so far. If you get $200 in cash back, they send you an extra $50 on top of that.

FYI (im sure some of you know this), but if you have a debit card with Citi, use it as CREDIT instead of debit. you earn more points if you use it as credit :)

Definitely the case for the Live points and subscription cards, but the games? Other than L&D I don't think I've seen any DLC sold as a scratch off card.

I'm going to assume the CSR didn't know what she was talking about. The easiest thing for them to do would be to just e-mail everyone the codes - which probably means instead, they will take six weeks to physically mail us a printout of the codes. Bonus points if some of them don't work and we have to navigate a labyrinthine customer service infrastructure to get it sorted out.

Bah, I knew I should have saved a screencap...I put the item number into Amazon yesterday and it showed up saying that it would be fulfilled via Amazon's Software Download service. It was listed as unavailable, but all the game's information was there.

Now if I try to goto the page, it ends up with a 404 error...you can try it yourself if you type this "B001LRQ8HU" into the search. You can see in the URL it mention "Braid-Xbox-LIVE-Arcade-DOWNLOAD-360" like it was listed on the Thankyou site.

Wow, that long ago? According to this from their help page, you should be hearing something from them soon:

My guess, for whatever it's worth, that XBLA downloads are part of a future service on Amazon and CitiRewards are at the mercy of that service launching on Amazon. They recently launched their game downloads product for PC games and currently have links up on the XBox page for game downloads. However, that link is currently pointing to the general, PC downloads page.

This was a great deal that I think they'll honor, but it may be a little while until they fulfill those codes.

The only reason that I use my Citi card as much as I do is because of the rewards program (because if I'm going to spend the money anyway, I might as well get something back for it, right?), but since they've dropped the Amazon and Target gift cards, I've been debating more and more whether it's worth bothering anymore. Just got a stack of emails all saying my order was canceled, one email per game. Went to the site and they're all listed as returned. Biggest dissapointment of the year.

I had briefly hoped that I would actually get something worthwhile with my TY points, but I'm not particularly surprised that these orders were canceled. The 6000pts I spent on XBLA games is worth a $50 GC, and that is sadly a good deal compared to the other overpriced crap on the site (2200pts for a 1 month Live card? Fuck you!), but it would be more like $175 to buy all of those games on Live. They probably just didn't want to go to the expense of fulfilling the orders. I guess the moral is that Live is overpriced, and the ThankYou Network is completely worthless.

I got something from them today...a survey to take when I visited the website!

It was quite fun. The only thing they scored above a 4 on was the "will you redeem points in the future", and that's only because I now have points that I shouldn't still have that need redeeming.

I made mention of the many now-soon-to-be-ex members who they screwed over with their non-redemption of items that were listed on their site, among other things such as the request to change the name from Thankyou.com to screwyou.com (toned it down since "shaq-fu" is an inside term, and FU is a "we won't take you seriously" term)

It certainly helped having that available the minute I see they actually cancelled my order.

I asked her whether she knows when it will be available, but she did not have an answer. It sounds like they are working on it for the future, but it's hard to tell when it will be available, or whether it will be as much of a deal.

By "gotten ahead of themselves" they mean their pricing structure didn't take into account the fact that the MS point cost for these games can vary so much, and they didn't intend for the shipping discount to apply to these items.

They probably will be back, but at vastly inflated prices. Consider that the 3 month Live subscription card is presently 3,400 points on the ThankYou site (and that's at a supposed discount from 4,000 pts), and that the MSRP on those are the same as the MSRP on 1600pt cards. The higher cost XBLA games will probably be back at 3x or more their original cost, and with no quantity discount. Or in other words, they'll be back, but at a point cost that will make it more efficient to stick with student loan credits or gift cards.

I wish they would bring it back without the discount for ordering multi games. That where the mistake was. Paying 1k of points for a XLBA game wouldn't be so bad. When it dropped down to 400 each that was it was amazing, but now that I think about it I would order them at 1k I think.

The shipping discount on items that had free shipping was clearly a boo-boo.

The email that I just sent to ThankYou Network customer support (replying to the original order confirmation message, which in the email was below):

Hi,

I placed this order on March 3rd. I received notification on March 17th that all of the "Xbox LIVE Arcade DOWNLOAD" items on the order were being canceled. When I called to ask for an explanation, the woman that I spoke to told me that they were canceled because you had "gotten ahead of yourselves" and "the service wasn't ready yet." Honestly, at that point, I was pretty angry. The availability of items that I want on your site has dropped considerably over time (as you no longer have Amazon or Target gift cards, for example), and now to have items that were listed as "available" when I ordered them unceremoniously canceled was too much. My plan was (and still is) to wait until my current credit card billing cycle ends to get myself up to enough points for a $50 Best Buy gift card, redeem my points for that, and then cancel my Citi credit card and replace it with another card with a better rewards program.

However . . .

I see today that Amazon, who I understand is your partner in fulfilling orders, is now officially offering XBox Live Arcade Downloads for sale on their site. I assume this means that the service is now possible. *IF* you can now fill the order as I originally placed it, I will be willing to reconsider my decision and keep my Citi card and ThankYou Network membership.

Please let me know what you will be able to do. Thank you.
