No kidding. What a joke if this is supposed to last a week. I hope they restock. It's a pain to get to the store nearest me.

Anyone know firsthand if "out of stock" is just being conservative like BB's pickup where there are less than 3 in actuality?

Boo, both of the Microcenters in my area are OOS on Mushroom Men. I was going to grab a few and flip em to Gamefly (GF is offering $24.75 in trade-in for it).

No, their numbers are usually accurate. If you see something you want you need to buy it online immediately for store pickup. Otherwise, you'll be SOL.

Thanks. I shall pray to the gaming gods for a restock before the sale ends.

Crud. That sucks and blows. MicroCenter bites.

I'd say that too but, at least at my local one, there was a sizable number of each title hours before the store even opened today. At least in my area, almost all of the stock was drained on each title well before 2 PM and it was mostly due to online orders.

Honestly, it's best to order it online and pick up in the future. They usually hold it for a few days (in this case until Sunday, 7 PM) and you don't have to throw elbows to get what you want.

And knowing my Micro Center on Saturdays and Sundays? Good lord, you would think it's Black Friday every weekend. Some of those people can get nuts.

This is my first post, so please bear with me.

I have a Microcenter a little more than an hour away from me but I can only make it as far as my local Best Buy and Sears for the next week due to time constraints. I plan to pricematch for Mushroom Men and Castlevania Judgment, but, considering how deep these discounts are, I expect to be given the runaround or simply told that the discount won't be honored, so I've researched the pricematch policies of both stores to "know my rights", so to speak.

There's a line in the Sears policy that says "Photo copies of advertisements or receipts will not be accepted as verification of competitor pricing." I only have access to a copy of the Microcenter ad that I printed in B&W off my computer (yes, printer sucks, can no longer use color cartridges correctly), and because of this they could easily cite the fact that I don't have a "true" copy of the ad as a reason to deny me the discount, even if I have the URL of the ad handy.

Best Buy is less specific regarding the validity of the ad, but they do say "Sometimes a retailer will advertise a very low price for a product but have only limited quantities in stock. If the item is out of stock or the competitor has limited quantities of an item, it is not eligible for price matching." and add "We reserve the right to call the competitor's store to verify the lower price and availability of the item." Considering that it seems that those of you who are lucky enough to be near Microcenters are going and finding most items out of stock, a tightfisted manager would probably get their way if they phoned the nearest Microcenter.

So basically, I'm wondering if there's any way to argue my way out of these caveats if I get resistant employees. Thanks for any advice.

bah no more mushroom men. Too bad they won't ship. Man Hunt 2 for $2 is awesome though. One of my favorite games on the PSP, might get this for the PS2 since I never finished it.

In my experience, Best Buy will call the other store to see if it's in stock. If it's not, you are usually out of luck, especially when the game is $40 off their current price. Sears is slightly more flexible, but if the Microcenter is not geographically close and you don't have the ad, I suspect you are going to get shut down there as well. Your best bet to get a match is usually Walmart, but again they have to be close to the Microcenter or they will not consider them a local competitor. It doesn't hurt to try because you never know what kind of reaction you will get. Worst case scenario, they say no.

Thanks, guys. I tried at Sears first and they didn't have either in stock (seeing as they don't carry Mushroom Men B&M anyway, I suppose that was only one missed opportunity.) At Best Buy, they did indeed go the route of calling the nearest Microcenter to see if either were in stock. Bad news on both, and after being turned away I was told that even if they had been in stock they wouldn't have honored the discount anyway because, according to them, all the games in the ad were listed as "limited quantities available" and this violated something in their pricematch policy. I might try Wal-Mart later this week.

Oh well--if nothing works, the fact that they both bombed at retail (?) makes them good candidates for a future Amazon DotD, so I'll just have to keep a look out.

After what happened with people not getting the copies of Guitar Hero World Tour that they had reserved on-line (for that awesome sale MC had), I was hesitant to try it for the Mushroom Men sale.

But it worked for the Chicago location, I picked it up a day after I reserved it. They have this new thing where they will let you know in 18 minutes if you got the order.

I saw it didn't work for someone else at a Microcenter location, but I just thought I would let you know that it did work for me.
