I just finished watching my Jerry Seinfeld:I'm Telling You For The Last Time dvd, and now i want to get some other good stand-up dvds. Can you all just list some that you would recomend. And it would be nice if they were cheap dvds that I could find in-store and not online. Thanks.

Blue Collar Comedy Tour
Larry The Cable Guy's Git-R-Done
You should also try Jerry Seinfeld's Comedian. It's a documentary but it's also a good watch.
EDIT: Forgot about Ron White and George Carlin. Anything with Carlin is HILARIOUS!

I haven't watched it yet, so I can't speak for the picture/sound quality but Eddie Murphy Raw just came out. It's $10 at BB B&M!
Very funny IMO.

watch david cross' "let america laugh" dvd. it's a documentary about his tour of the US, but there is some actual footage from his shows on there as well. the whole thing is really funny.
personally, i don't think all that blue collar comedy crap stuff is very funny at all. in fact, i would venture to say that if i was laughing at something, and then i saw someone on that program tell a joke, i would immediately stop laughing. but i guess that's all a matter of opinion. i've got to agree with the george carlin and lewis black stuff, though.

There's a track called "Gay Superhero" on that DVD.
Is that just a missing comma, or an unholy combination of the two songs?
In any case, I second Robin Williams: Live in New York. It's just a great DVD.

missing a coma... :)
BTW, he's actually a singing comedian, that also has great banter between songs (which can morph from performance to performance)...truly a great overall comedian.
Here's the lyrics for Gay (funny when ready, hilarious when certain pauses and inflections are used):
Here we are
Dear old friends
You and i drunk again
laughs have been had
tears have been shed
maybe the whisky has gone to my head
but if i were gay
i would give you my heart
and if i were gay
you'd be my work of art
and if i were gay
we would swim in romance
but im not gay
so get your hand out of my pants
its not that i dont care
i do
i just dont see myself in you
another time another scene
i'd be right behind you if you know what i mean
coz if i were gay
i would give soul
and if i were gay
i would give you my whole... being
and if i were gay
we would tear down the walls
But I'm Not gay
so wont you stop cupping my Ba... Hand
we've never hugged
we've never kissed
i've never been intimate with your fist
you have opened brand new doors
get over here and drop ... your ... Drawers

Denis Leary's No Cure For Cancer stage show has a lot of material that wasn't on the album. The book has still more.

Very hard to find in NTSC but the comedy sections of 'The Secret Policeman's Ball' series has some great stuff including what I think is the best rendition of the Monty Python sketch 'The Four Yorkshiremen.'

Jeff Foxworthy does a lot more than 'You may be a redneck' jokes. One of the funniest parts of the Blue Collar Tour is at the end when they start ragging on each other's catchphrases.

Best Transvestite comedian alive (and that's saying alot  ).

I've soured on Lewis Black of late. He was once great on the 'Daily Show' and the the standup special he did for Comedy Central was quite good. But he apparently leaves his brains in his dressing room any time he's in an uncensored environment. His recent HBO special was pathetic. I laughed perhaps twice in the whole hour. The only thing I took away from that is that at his advanced age still thinks the word fuck has such great novelty it should used at least twice every sentence. This gets tedious very fast, especially when there are rarely any decent joke to be found amidst the torrent of fuck.
anything by stephen lynch if f'n hillarious..if you can find anything on paul mooney, GET IT..Ralphie May's Just Correct is watchable once a day and never gets old.

Just to be different, I'll suggest Henry Rollins spoken word dvds. "live at Luna Park" and "Up for It" are the two newest and are pretty much straight comedy. Part of "Up for It" was on comedy central. Also there's a two disk combo of "Talking from the Box" and "Rollins Goes to London" which mix in a little more philosophy with the laughs, which I like better. He doesn't just rattle off one liners, he tells hilarious stories. I saw him live this spring and it was awesome, and I'm seeing him again in two weeks.

Mitch Hedberg's "Mitch All Together". It's actually an audio CD, but it comes with a DVD with some of his stand-up appearances too. He's hilarious.

I'd like to second the awesomeness of Rollins. I've seen George Carlin, Dave Chapelle, and Henry Rollins live, and Rollins was easily the most entertaining. Perhaps not the funniest of the three, but by far the best story-teller. I have the DVD mentioned above, which includes a segment where Rollins discusses the death of his best Friend Joe Cole in 1991. I tear up every time I hear it. Rollins isn't for everyone, but definitely give him a shot if you want to see something different from the usual stand-up routine.

I'm finding that a surprisingly large number of the good half-hour and hour sets that come around on Comedy Central regularly have no DVD release. Something must be done. Surely if they piled four or five on a single disc there would be enough value to justify a release. The average comic could seriously use the money, even if it's measured in nickels and dimes.

It would be great if they had a dvd release of that show. I think its called Comedy Central Presents.
