Just wondering what kind of gaming regrets you have, as far as selling or trading away those rare, great, any type of game basically.

My biggest would be Harvest Moon 64. I got tired of it so i traded it in a few years ago. It was complete, mint. Probably the most ive ever gotten for a trade at a store, 45$.

Maybe Shenmue also, it was the collectors edition or whatever. Dont know if its worth anything though.

All my game systems are regrets, wish i never sold any of the 10 or so over the years.

I stopped selling/trading away games about 1 year ago. I was just losing too much money constantly, so now I keep all my games I own, that way, I'll never regret selling them!

That depends. What did you sell Suikoden 2 for. If you traded it in to a gamestore, then you need to go sit in the corner.

I traded my Neo Geo w/ 5 games with a friend back in Sendai. In return, he bought me a PS2 + 3 games when it first came out. I received it only 2 days after launch, which was cool, but I regret trading it now. :(

I haven't really gotten rid of anything that I regret, most were childish kid games or games that aren't are and I can find for 1 or 2 bucks. I learned about 5 years ago that it truly isn't worth it since I barely get any money and that in 1-2 years I'll miss them anyway.

I've sold tons of games and never regretted it. I only keep games that I have a desire to play again after I'm through.

I regret selling my Genesis (twice), NES, Atari 2600, Intellivision, N64, and Game Boy. I always had the mindset when I was younger that the new system was the best so when dreamcast cam out I sold N64, when GC came out I sold DC and so on. Man am I dissapointed. Howver I did wind up with different Genesis, DC, and game boys.

My entire PC Engine/TG-16 library. Almost 200 cards and CDs, all told. I thought I'd done everything worth doing with that system but a sew years later regretted cashing it all in. Especially since this was before eBay and I would have esily gotten at least $200 more if I'd waited a few years.

My other big mistake was lending out some games to this coworker at a long ago job. I lent her my FF IV and Zelda. Both complete and pristine for SNES. Due to circumstance I was out of touch with her for about three months and when I saw her again she couldn't remeber what had happened to them beyond being sure she no had them.

Sim City for SNES (twice) and Demon's Crest. I got the rough equivalent of jack shit for each, and ended up buying them again anyway.

Although it does remind me of a story i read where Demon's Crest once had negative sales, as more people returned the game than bought it in a given week. Anyone remember that, or know if it's true or not?

Maybe. If I recall correctly it was regarded as intensely difficult for a good game.

I think the only really difficult part was really trying to find all the hidden shit, rest of the game wasn't that overly difficult. I still think the original Gargoyle's Quest was a hell of a lot better though.

I once bought a sealed copy of Rhapsody for $10, played the game, tried the soundtrack, and didn't care for it, so I traded it in to some little hole-in-the-wall store for an amount that I've forgotten.

Crimson Skies, I had beaten it already so I thought better sell while it is still more or less fresh in people's minds, problem is the complete lack of quality flying games like it these days. Might just rebuy it used or something.

None, the only games I ever got rid of from my collection were some junky games for that EBGames.com trade 4 games, get $50 credit that I paid $5 for. I usually don't trade in or sell games because I know I will regret it

I never got around to opening mine for almost two years after finding it at Wal-mart for $10. Then one day I saw the eBay action, looked at some reviews, and chose to take the $100 instead.

which brings up another form of regret. I've lost count of the number of times an onscure game sat in unsold piles at local stores for blowout prices. I'd buy one for myself but never expect it to turn into a premium item on eBay. My local TRU had a couple dozen Gitaroo Man, for instance, that sat around for months at $10.

I sold every one of my Mega Man games for NES, (I had them all), my zelda games for nes, my final fantasy nes game, my two copies of chrono trigger, my copy of cannon spike for DC, all my n64 games, etc. I used to sell all my old systems to get new ones, but I'm so glad I don't do that anymore. I have Panzer Dragoon for Saturn if you're interested...

I have three regrets for this thread:

1) Sold an original NES way back in the day to get the SNES. The games were solid, but the real kicker is that for some reason I had kept the boxes and manuals in exceptional condition. Zelda 1&2, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy (Aargh!), Baseball Stars! I had about 20 - 25 of them.

2) Sold my snes to get the N64. I don't even remember which games I owned, except Final Fantasy 2! I had also, for no apparent reason (too stupid back then to do this on purpose), kept the box and inserts in mint condition. It was probably a good 10 years before I got that game back again, and certainly not in the condition I had it in - the real kicker is that I originally got the game for $10, due to Montgomery Wards running an ad for "Super Nintendo games as low as $10" - but when we showed up there were no $10 games so they let us choose (Dare I wonder if I might be the original CAG? Ok, probably not, but I can dream!)

3) Stadium Events for NES. How do you sit on a game that sucks SO bad and is worth $300? The agony! When I couldn't stand it anymore I sold it. I'm satisfied in selling it, but there is a gaping hole in my NES collection now.

Viewtiful Joe. The only reason I sold is was because I got a good offer on it ($40 for it and Animal Crossing, which I was dumping anyways). Bought a copy recently for $15. I don't sell too many games (for reasons already mentioned here).

I'm just amazed that people pay so much for Suikoden II. When it was released, it never got great reviews...

My SNES and entire SNES game collection(which included Final Fantasy 3 and Zelda among others) for like $100 store credit at funcoland :x . Then I proceeded to spend the entire amount on 1 game priced at $96.00; Mario 64! I was young and stupid. I believe the expression "like taking candy from a baby" was Funcoland's mantra. But I've let all of that repressed anger go and I got nothing but love for that now defunct, and deservedly so, place.

I gave away all of my NES and Atari games years ago. It was when each system was fairly old (the SNES at least was out at the time) and I had one friend who was playing an Atari 2600 and another who had just been given an NES, so I let them have pretty much all that I owned. Course at the time there was no eBay and I doubt I could have gotten more than a quarter to a buck a game or so at a yard sale.

I actually just dug out all of my old consoles this weekend and shed a tear of remorse over all of the games I used to have (I now have two NES games and a dozen or so Atari games.)

When i bought an engagement ring, i sold a GI for 240, which i paid 140 for... but now is like 400-500 :(.

Mint copies of Lunar 1 x2, and Lunar 2 for Sega CD

A bunch of other sega cd games, like Vay, Popful mail, etc

Sealed Dragon Force for Saturn

Sold a sealed Chrono Trigger for Snes for 300...but i dont regret that :).

Dynasty Warriors 3. I was ordering 4XL, but when i got it i discovered it didnt have musuo mode or free mode (damn koei)

also Shenmue. I thought it wasnt working with my VMU, then i reilized it was a penguin egg. Also i couldnt get past the stealth part even though now that i have a PHD in metal gear solid, I would be able to blow past that.

Luckily, the only hardware I've ever sold that I regretted was my TG-16. The controller was a little unreliable, and this was pre-Internet, so I thought it wasn't much good to me. I got $75 for the unit and 13 games, I think.

Here's my top 10 list of games I wish I hadn't gotten rid of:

10. Mario Kart 64. Traded it for Diddy Kong Racing. Got $42 for Diddy on Ebay, but still miss Kart.
9. Persona for PSone. Thankfully got another one in trade.
8. Final Fantasy NES. Got it for $10 new at TRU, probably got that much for it.
7. Popful Mail Sega CD. Great game, and mine was mint.
6. Suikoden 1 PSone. Still have my II, thankfully.
5. Lunar: Silver Star Sega CD. Another mint Working Designs game. I do have it on PSone now.
4. Super Metroid SNES. I bought it complete in Japan for $10 in '02, but still...
3. Snatcher Sega CD. What a great game. Can't find it for under $70 now.
2. Lunar: Eternal Blue Sega CD. Another mint game, even had guide. Got ripped by a NPB on Ebay. Relisted, and got way less. Grrr!
1. Discworld PSone. Sold it and guide for $20 to friend of a friend. Bought game off eBay years later for $70. A MORON IS ME!!!
