View Full Version : When Gamers Go Bad, OR, How My Brother's Pointless Rage Nearly Broke My WaveBird

We've all had a problem with them, some of us ARE them, they're the ones that play games without fully understanding them, and thusly, throw an immature, and violent fit. Usually, it simply ruins the fun of a game, but sometimes, and most often in my brother's case, it can turn into a rage so horriyingly stupid that they lose all sense of what matters. So Joel, here's a few pointers:
A. If you shoot to the side of me, it will not effect me.
B. If I'm flying overhead in a machine gun helicopter, and you are heading in one direction, but swaying a little, chances are, I'm going to kill you.
And C. If points A and B occur, and you throw my wireless controller across the room, and the battery cover snaps off, and you can't find one of the batteries for it, and there's a dent in the wall, and then you call your opponent a "Pussy," for not playing against you in your uncontrolled anger, then you, my friend, should not be playing games.

Another reason why I don't play with other people, most of the time. I would have had to hurt him, and going to jail over a game is just ridiculous.
(I'm glad the Wavebird's okay!)

Just be glad it was a wavebird, other wise he might have sent your GC crashing when he threw across the room.

One advantage of online play vs. the isolation of online play.

The worst your online partner can do to you is swear alot and disconnect from a game.
Also, playing with adults helps, most of the time. I've found that people who have jobs and actually have to pay for their gaming stuff usually outgrow physically damaging their consoles and controllers. Well, most of them anyways.

There's this.. well.. this special guy who comes in to our store every other day. Literally. Anyways, he has bought and broken two GBA SP systems by "getting mad at it." Which means he wrings the screen out like a wet rag.

I can't deny that controller throwing is a part of my past. Usually just giving it a hearty toss to the floor at my feet after some serious frustration. But a little maturity and a thin wallet have made me chill out.

when i first got an sp, the first game i played was M&L and when i would get frustrated i would shake the gameboy (i do this to controllers and older gameboys and it never hurt either of them) and everytime i did this the screen would pop back into an very bad loking position, i could swear i was gunna break it, but i broke the habit of shkaing the gameboy since i didnt want to spend another 100$ on one Xop

They should start making controllers with rubber bumpers on them so when you slam it on the floor it would bounce right back up into your hands.

My controller makes a little jingle when I shake it. Too much Stuntman.

One time my roomate picked up my copy of State of Emergency and punched it, just shattering the case and sent the disc flying, I was real pissed. I don't understand why it's so hard not to get mad at a game.

I knew somebody in high school who was steaming after I beat him at Connect Four three times in a row.
I also remember that he got banned from playing his N64 for two weeks once because his mother caught him throwing one of the controllers across the room while he was playing Turok.

Back in the Day we used to FLING our 2600 and 7800 controllers across the room. Still worked. You kids today with your beepboops and cybercontrollers, they don't make them like they used to.
And yes, when I have to pay for replacements, I take care of them a lot better....My Ps2 is usually below the entertainment center, but once it was out on the floor--my son comes over and STANDS on it....No, son, don't do that, that's Daddy's toy....Although he will grab the controller, start wiggling the sticks, and look at the tv....
Worst controller I've had ruined was when my dog had to go out....he didnt' make it, and unfortunately my player-2 controller was right on the spot he had 'accidents' in the past. There was no saving that one...
