View Full Version : Falcom announces more Ys for the PSPs - Ys Seven and Ys I&II Chronicles

Much like the PSP remake of Brandish, they announced their new PSP titles in the "Investor Relations (http://www.falcom.co.jp/kaisya/ir/index.html)" section of their website. Anyways, onto the two games:

Ys Seven
Not much information about this one, other than it will be a sequel to Ys: The Ark of Naphistim. It's set for release in Japan in September 2009.

Ys I&II Chronicles
According to the QJ (http://pspupdates.qj.net/More-RPGs-for-the-PSP-Ys-7-Ys-I-II-Chronicles-confirmed-for-PSP/pg/49/aid/129595) article, this is going to be a port of a two remakes for the PC (Ys I Eternal, Ys II Eternal), that was made into a bundle-port for the PS2 (Ys I&II Eternal Story). Rather than use a 2D/3D combo like the DS game, the Eternal remakes used high-quality 2D graphics, and kept the ramming mechanic (Though it has been eased a bit by allowing you to dodge the enemy's attack even if you attack head-on). Set to come out in July 2009 for Japan.

Really? Ys Seven for the psp? Awesome. I hope there's some sort of option to install data to the memory stick to help alleviate load time.

Guess I was half asleep when I read the thread originally. Well I'll get it eventually one way or another, but hopefully it'll get localized by the time I'd actually get around to importing it.

Many years ago I borrowed the disk of Ys I and II for Turbographics CD and transferred its music to a tape. I would listen to its songs and dialog and imagine how much fun it'd be to play it. I almost bought a DS for this game. I'm glad I waited, as it appears to me that the PSP port will be better quality. I enjoyed a Ys game on NES (or was it SMS or Genesis?) and I loved Ys 6 (except the stupid long jump) on PS2. I'm getting both I&II and VII day 1.
