Does anyone know of any gaming sites that are content-rich, ad-free, and, most of all, have character? I'm sick of having to rely on GameSpot and IGN for gaming information. I was an IGN subscriber for a year. Then I realized that I was paying to look at a home page literally covered with advertisements.

www.evilavatar.com is a cool meta site. It basically directs you to news at other sites and then lets you comment on it there. It's probably my fav. gaming news site.

I like Gamespot but I wouldn't pay 'em crap. I also think they have some of the best reviews.
I use GameSpot, and mags like EGM, XBN, and a couple others. GameSpot has always seemed pretty good for free.

I pretty much only use IGN.

www.the-magicbox.com is pretty good, although it isn't updated consistently.

Depends how much content, and what type, you're after. Might I recommend weekly magazine Way of the Rodent (http://www.wayoftherodent.com)? Especially tomorrow, it'll be a 50th issue special. :D

Has anyone else noticed that GameSpy has literally become overrun with flash pop-ups? I have to click away at least two every time a page loads.

I have a list that I read everyday
gamesindustry.biz(more industry stuff)
Eurogamer.net(sister site of gi.biz more towards games)
gamesarefun.com(has that personality you're looking for)
1up.com(has funny captions=personality)
plus others, but those are the best.

I'm enjoying this one. It seems a little light on the gaming content, but it's got character to spare. Thanks. Keep 'em coming.

I'm checking out gamesarefun.com as we speak. I appreciate everyone's input. I'll still check out more, though.
