I know most of you probably know about this place, but I just thought I would post this since I did not find a topic.

monoprice.com (http://www.monoprice.com) has long been known as the cheapest place to buy USB, Network, HDMI, and many other cables, period.

Their service is excellent as well.

Our business just ordered another round of Network and USB cables and saved close to $1000 compared to retail stores like Best Buy, etc.

We have had Network cables from monoprice throughout our building for a few years and have had NO ISSUES at all. Most of the cables in my home (S-Video, HDMI, USB, CAT5e, etc. are also from monoprice and they have been perfect.

The Quality of the cables I have bought has been as good or in many cases, much better than more expensive cables elsewhere.

I know there are other online retailers like Firefold that sell for similar prices, but I have not found their service to be near as good as monoprice.

Second monoprice.com Recommended above all others. Every time someone asks about cables, someone responds monoprice.com, but you're right, I don't remember seeing a standalone topic.

Wanted to throw in my recommendation as well (as if they needed more). Their A/V cables are very high quality for the prices they're asking. Definitely the first place I look for any cables, converters, etc.

I've gotten HDMI, component and Toslink cables from 'em and love 'em. Their banana plugs are pretty sweet too (and inexpensive to boot).

If you need banana plugs I'd suggest getting the "solder type" - you can just screw one end off, put your speaker wire in and screw the top right back on...no soldering gun needed.

I've gotten HDMI, HDMI/DVI, and Toslink cables from them and found them to be extremely well made. The service is fast and courteous and you simply will not beat their prices. What Monster Cable and others of its ilk perpetrate is a crime.

I reccomend monoprice all the time to friends. They are skeptical at first, because the prices are so low compared to most electronic store cables. But after explaining the markup on cables, and telling them to do some searching on the internet in the audio/video forums, they usually come around.

Quality between cables is negligible. I haven't noticed any difference between the monster cables I was using before or a monoprice cable on my Philips 720p / 1080i or the SHARP 1080p. I sold all of my old monster cables after I started buying at monoprice. I guess if you are a freak and can notice those type of things there might be a difference. Just get the cheapest cable you can from monoprice at the proper length, and you will probably be ok.

Yikes. They're running a 9.79 on Reseller Ratings!

Okay, I guess next time I need cables I'll give them a try.

Do their cables have lead in them? A lot of cables I see at Best Buy have to carry warnings about washing your hands, etc. because of the lead in them.

And anyone know if those HDMI switches work? I see they've got a $20 two port manual switch, which theoretically would be perfect for me if/when I end up with both a Playstation 3 and 360.

yeah, thats how i feel too. its just that awhile back i thought i noticed a post for hdmi cables from monoprice for around 3-4 bucks shipped. the cheapest i could i find was around 8 bucks plus shipping on the site. i think i will hold onto to the cheapies from big lots since they are getting the job done. with that said,if you can't find cheap cables in-store,then monoprice is the way to go.

I bought wii cables from them for 9 $ shipped... and they arrived in decent time and working order... however there are like visible (slightly) waves that move from bottom to top accross my tv... is that the wii or the HD cables? did I get bad cables or does the wii just project shitty 480p?

has anyone else experienced this (easy to see when screen is dark)? and if it is just my cables, what is monoprices deal on returns? I've had them for like 2 weeks...

Well, it could be your TV, or your Wii, but I'd bet it's the cable. The Wii's output is clean (low resolution of course, but clean).

That's why I'm scared to try cheap cables-or anything really besides first party stuff. First party stuff works at least.

The only way to really find out is try them on another TV. I would think it's the TV because I had a similar problem with XBOX 360 1st party component cables on my brother-in-laws RCA, but it works just fine on both my TVs.

I had a similar issue with composite cables from my GC. Turns out it was the INPUT on the TV. All the other inputs looked fine except the one I was using.

So try another input on the TV if you have one.

Are you using a Switchbox of some kind? If so, take that out of the mix as well.

no switchbox... it's plugged directly into the back of the tv (only component inputs, small lcd tv)... my dad has a big screen hd tv i can test it on, but i'm too lazy to go unplug his hd stuff for my wii. I hope its not the tv, all other imputs are perfect just the component is a little shaky which made me think maybe its the cables.

I'm moving into the dorms next week and i'm sure someone else will have an hdtv that i can test my cables on. I just couldn't make myself pay $35 for first party cables when monoprice had them for under 10 shipped.

thanks for the help

The first party cables should be $30 from Nintendo, although then you've got shipping, so...

I guess issues with TVs are the reason I don't skimp out on TVs either. It's more important than ever, since the quality of your TV's scaler is REAAAAAAALLY important if you play SD games like the Wii and Playstation 2. I keep saying it-Sony's modern HDTVs have fantastic scalers. I can't even tell my Wii is being scaled. I honestly can't.

ok, so I had some other issues with that tv and promply returned it to my local sears for cash... then drove over to circuit city and bought a bigger and better tv... 19 to 27 inch... proscan to olevia...

And now with the new TV the waves have dissappeared, so it apears that the tv I had just had crappy component ports, as it's very smooth now on my larger screen with the same 9 $ cables from monoprice. Hail monoprice as their cables are awesome (on a non-shitty tv... lol)

Good to hear you're able to find out the problem and get it settled quickly. Nice jump in size too. I got a 27" olevia for my room, then cleaned it...returned it and got the 32" from CC.

For monoprice, I also like the fact that when they're OOS. There's a date to tell you when it'll be available and they can also send you an email. Nothing but positive on my end. Heh, one day when I place another order, I'm gonna drive down there myself (20ish mins away) and say thanks and isht to them.

Just got my 25ft monoprice SVGA (w/audio) cable in the mail... Screw monster, monoprice is the real deal. Even generic brands of the same cable at my local electronic stores were double and in some cases triple the cost of what monoprice offered.

And if you're really cheap sign up at gaminglagoon, they'll buy/order monoprice cables for you for filling out simple surveys, which is the ultimate cheap ass way of getting things. Use the link in my profile and be my first referral if you do decide to join. I got my cables as fast as I would have if I ordered them, gaminglagooon just had them shipped to me.

Above all else, use monoprice.... Great find CAG board!

I'm no expert, but I think it's a combination of the quality of the cable, plus cables have huuuuuge mark ups. Kind of like how they sell you a game system for (relatively) cheap, and then sell accessories at massively marked up prices.

I'm using the HDMI cable from monoprice for my PS3 to HDTV. It works 100%Check the settings on your PS3 and make sure it isn't outputting sound via the optical out. and make sure it's inserted firmly into the PS3. (It snaps in there nicely)

I just ordered some cables from monoprice, they were really fast. I ordered on friday and they got here today, the cables were shipped on monday and got here today (wednesday). Not to mention the prices and shipping were super cheap and the cables seemed to be of good quality. I needed some USB 2.0 cables since all my cables seemed to be the old USB 1.1 and that wasn't playing nice with some newer devices. It was a small order of 3 cables but everything is good.

I decided a wireless adapter for my 360 wouldn't be worth $100, so I just bought a 50 ft cable from monoprice. The length of it is a little overkill (25 ft would have been plenty) but I want to make sure I'll have a long cable just in case I happen to need one.

I had long heard of monoprice, so I knew I would go there for my HDMI cables (but first went to WM and paid $30 for a 3 ft cable I knew I would return once my monoprice cables came.)

With the prices so cheap, I decided to go a little long and got a 15 ft 28AWG HDMI cable. I thought it was awesome, but recently have been having some issues:
I think I'm getting "sparklies", but I've never seen them before so can't be sure. Sometimes there is a bright blue flare like light in certain scenes of movies (I think I've only noticed it on SD DVD's, although I've only watched a couple HD things). The sound seems to sometimes drop out as well. I think I might try to exchange it, but since shipping is non-refundable, and I'm a bit worried the new item will have shipping charges, I might just buy another, shorter cable (15 ft is way too much). If the replacement cable gives me trouble, I'm gonna have to go one step up to bluejeanscable. Any one here have any experience with returns at monoprice?

I know next to nothing about HDMI cables.I also m new to HDMI, but I believe it's he gauge for the wire - the thickness. The higher the gauge, the thinner it is. Meaning a 24AWG will be a heavier yet sturdier cable than 28. I hear 28 works fine for most people.

The closest explaination I could find on wikipedia is american wire gauge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge). I think that must be what it means.

Ok, thanks. That makes sense then. Another question is which HDMI cable is good for a ps3? Is any HDMI cable good? I see descriptions of HDMI cables talking about father and mother connections...and I don't exactly know what that means. I wouldn't want to get an HDMI cable that doesn't work.

I see descriptions of HDMI cables talking about father and mother connections...and I don't exactly know what that means. I wouldn't want to get an HDMI cable that doesn't work. From what I've been reading recently (and anyone can jump in to correct me as I'm still pretty new to HD, cabling, etc), is that most HDMI is the same. In fact, from what I hear, higher end cables can be more troublesome than lower enders, ie Monster, who seems to want to make super thick, heavy-duty looking cables to justify the high price tag, but they tend to have too much weight and the connector has trouble staying in. But I've never owned a Monster cable myself, I'm just restating what I've read (Monster is WAY out of my range - hence my posting at CAG about cheap HDMI ;)).
An interesting write-up can be found at pc world (http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,121777-page,1/article.html). It doesn't mention monoprice, but the idea is about the same. The results are startling to say the least.
As far as father/mother, do you mean male/female connections? Male and female are common terms for cable ends, because one is more "masculine" than the other ;) The female is a hole, the male the end that fits inside, completing the connection. For most HDMI connections you'll want Male to Male, ie both ends plug into a female. The reason you might want Male-Female would be if you needed to attach another cable to the end of the other cable (although, will this just work with HDMI cables? I've heard many people say they have switches and such to attach cables together. This may be just because Male to Male is more common.)

A few other things that are hard to decipher (for me anyway) at the site:
Many cables say CL2 rated (for in-wall installation). CL2 is a standard that has to be met for cables to be used inside a wall. I ignored this since it seemed to apply mostly to longer cabling, which for a simple player-to-tv you won't need, and because I have no plans of doing any in-wall cabling. If you KNOW you'll be doing that later, you can always plan ahead, but for a player-to-tv setup I suggest just waiting until you need it.

Length is pretty obvious, but I thought I'd point out that the standard seems to be that it's measured end to end, connectors and all. So a 3 ft cable is really like 2.5 (well, more than that but you get my point). It's annoying since I thought 3 ft would be enough for me before, but it was extremely short. 6 ft however should probably suit most. 10ft is maybe a bit much, and 15 is way too much for a simple connection - trust me. I made the mistake of wanting a lot of cable since it was so cheap. I wish I had simply gone with 6ft. Another thing to note is that 15ft is the near-max length for HDMI before it gets harder to handle the signal (AFAIK), so after this point yo get signal degradation and loss (but this may be why some are CL2... to be able to handle longer signal stretches. Anyone know?)

Plating: Doesn't matter much, at least signal wise. Gold plating is to keep the end of the cable from corroding, and doesn't help or hinder the transmission of the digital signal. Most cables are gold plated, so just go with that as it's not a big decision cost wise or quality wise.

AWG: Already covered this, but for the sake of keeping it all in an easy to read post, it's weight or gauge. It is the heft and weight of the cable, with higher numbers being skinnier cables. 28awg is usually fine for most, but 24awg is good if you need a bit more thickness. I bought 28awg, and it seems a good thickness and quality, without being too heavy.

Ferrite Cores: Okay, this one seems even weirder than AWG. I'll let Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrite_bead) field this one:
A ferrite bead is a passive electric component used to suppress high frequency noise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_noise) in electronic circuits. Ferrite beads employ the mechanism of high dissipation of high frequency currents in a ferrite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrite_%28magnet%29) to build high frequency noise suppression devices. Ferrite beads may also be called ferrite cores, ferrite rings, ferrite EMI filters, or mistakenly as ferrous beads. Engineers often jokingly call them FCC goobers, or FCC lumps after their shape when attached to a cable.
So, it's a good thing to have, so why not. It seems to be in most cables.

So, now you know all you need to know, namely that it's length, connector type and gauge that matter most, where the standard seems to be 6ft, m-m, and 28AWG (gold plated with ferrite cores).

I hope this helps; I know when I started looking around I had no idea what all these things meant. Oh, and any mistakes, all feel free to correct me.

I am looking for an HDMI cable for my PS3. Does it matter if it is ver 1.3? For example, what is the difference between this (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024005&p_id=2219&seq=1&format=2) and this (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024004&p_id=3661&seq=1&format=2)? Because both of those are for in-wall insallation, which you most likely won't need, if you'r simply running cable form your PS3to tv. But you might have different setup.
As far as 1.3, from what I can tell, it provides more data thouroughput and will work with previous specs, so you might as well get 1.3.

so which cable would you recceomend buying for a PS3 to HDTV connection? When researching 1.3 spec, I came across another confusing term: Category 2! Well, it seems that for old specs of HDMI, they would specify that a cable be run at a certain resolution for testing, while 1.3 Category 1 means it can run at 720p or 1080i; Category 2 is close to 1080p, so that's the best option (and luckily just about all monoprice has).
Having said that, here are a couple 1.3 Cat 2 cables. I have provided a black cable that isn't available as you may specifically want black, but any color should work fine. I have a 15ft cable which is much too long, and have used a 3ft cable which is much too short. 6ft ought to do the job.

6ft Black (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3992&seq=1&format=2) - $6.43 (Not Avail until 12/10)
6ft Red (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=4024&seq=1&format=2) - $6.43
6ft White (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=4026&seq=1&format=2) - $6.43
6ft Yellow (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3955&seq=1&format=2) - $6.43

And here is a black 10ft cable, in case you really want black and want it now (since 6ft is not avail), or in case you know you'll need 10ft (it might be a little long though).

10 Ft Black (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024008&p_id=3993&seq=1&format=2) - $7.63

Any of these should be fine, and are basically the same save color and lengh changes.

Here are some options (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3662678&postcount=96), and here is an explanation of the options (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3575253&postcount=81) if you care to read it (it's a lot and hopefully accurate).
Shoot, I always thought Monster Cables were the best. What is wrong about them? They have not let me down so far. There isn't anything technically wrong with them (save perhaps hefty coating to make the cables feel more weighty, which can tug at your device from them being too rigid and heavy), they are just overpriced. HDMI is strictly a situation of either you get signal or you don't, so a $10 cable == $200 cable. Sorta sucks for consumers since this is not that widely known.

1) Which Optical cable is recommended? Can't spend a whole lot, but a middle range amount would be fine. I was looking at the premium one there. I want to connect my 360 to the Pioneer home system.

2) Anyone want a pair of bratty cats? The white one who just chewed through my optical that I hooked up YESTERDAY is first to go.

I've ordered some of those premium optical cables from monoprice, great quality and they're very fast at shipping orders. Just ordered an s-video cable and a digital audio coaxial cable on Sunday and they shipped my order out on Monday, $11 after Priority shipping. I had previously gotten those two cables at Radio Shack for $38 total ($15 digital coax cable and $22 s-video cable were the cheapest at the store I went to, had a feeling it was overpriced!) and knew monoprice would probably be a lot cheaper, so I took those back for a refund after placing my order. Never shopping at Radio Shack again!

Monoprice kicks azz. The only problem I've ever had with them was with a cheap fm transmitter that was awful quality. One email and they refunded everything including shipping and they didn't even make me return the item.

Dude, nice!

I just ordered my 6 foot silver HDMI cable from them around noon PDT. Their site clearly states that orders have to be in before 6 am to go out the same day, but since I live within an hour of the place, I called and asked when the order would go out. The girl said that she would make sure that it went out today-- I upgraded over the phone to priority just in case to give it an extra push-- so I expect to see it Monday or Tuesday-- just in time for me to return my ridiculously overpriced Monster cable to Fry's to take advantage of their "http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181740 (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181740)" Blu-ray deal ending on May 6th.

I suspect that due to my location someone will manually drop my package off today from them at the P.O., but I appreciate that they made that extra effort for me to aid me in avoiding my plight.

And save me an extra trip over to Fry's.

Oh no, you totally can. It's on their payment screen--pickup in-person. i just live too far to warrant driving over there on the 210 to get a cable. Traffic's horrible once you pass Allen Avenue heading east-- that combined with gas prices, I'll have it shipped to me. Which I got Monday from ordering Friday.

Fry's, here I come with your overpriced cable. Gimme my money back.

The optical cable that they sent to me doesn't work, I hooked up my PS3 to it and it made a horrible static noise. I then connected it to the 360 and now there's no sound at all.

I'll call them today, hopefully they will just send me a replacement since I have to unplug/replug the one cable I have to hook up either the 360/PS3.

Monoprice is great.

I saw this thread after I ordered 2x 100ft spools of 12 AWG speaker cable from Monoprice for a home theater setup. The cable conductor is nice and thick like it's supposed to be (some cheap cable will have a thick jacket surrounding smaller conductors) , each spool was a single 100ft length as advertised ( some people will sell you a spool that's segmented and not a contiguous wire run). Both conducters in the wire were untinned copper, which to me is a plus) I searched retailers and etailers, and Monoprice's offerings on speaker wire were the best deals I was able to find.

I've got nothing but good things to say about the 2 orders I've made from monoprice. Both came quicker than they were supposed to. The first order I got 3 HDMI cables at $2.86 a piece along with some Wii component cables, 2 optical toslink cables, a regular component cable, and a DVI to HDMI adaptor. Over Christmas, I got my in-laws and a couple other relatives on the Monoprice bandwagon. One got himself a new HDTV and Blu-ray player. He also got duped into buying a Monster HDMI cable from CC. I told him to take it back, and he bought himself a Monoprice HDMI for less than $10 shipped.

Same thing with my in-laws. They had bought a USB cable from Best Buy for their new printer. The new cable I ordered for them---less than $4 shipped.

My friend had a similar experience - needed a vga=>dvi adapter I think. I figured, "that can't cost more than maybe $5 retail." I think Staples had them for like $30. I told him, wait a few days, I'll get you one for cheap, you won't owe me anything. I think I probably got him this (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041903&p_id=2396&seq=1&format=2), it's currently $1.68.

I think people take the 'you get what you pay for' adage too seriously. If you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need. (And price isn't always an indicator of what you need).

I installed everything right before Christmas, and i have to say that from all the great things I've heard they still vastly exceeded my expectations. If your X360 has an HDMI port, any HDMI cable will do.Since the 360 only does HDMI 1.2, any HDMI cable they sell works, though for the price difference between the non-1.3a and the 1.3a cables, it's worth spending the slightly extra money to make sure you can use them anywhere.

As for the prices at Amazon, yes they're low, but they are offered from a number of different resellers. When I buy at monoprice, it's always from the same source. I'm thinking if I need customer service, monoprice is a safer bet.

How much is the standard shipping at monoprice.com? YMMV. They don't rape you on shipping like most places, so it's dependent on the size/weight of what you are buying. They basically charge what it actually costs to package & ship, a novel concept.

I'd like to know where these "better sites" are-- because given their ridiculously low prices and shipping rates, same-day order-and-mail, quality product and exemplary customer service, I just don't see this being possible.

Frankly, I'd pay one dollar more through them than try to nickel and dime myself from some unknown buyer off of Amazon that will probably ship whenever they get around to it the next day.
Monoprice is exactly the kind of company you can rely on for low prices and great customer relations-- so forgive me if you think I'm being "elitist".

Ever consider contacting Monoprice and having them refund the money?

For me, no complaints on Monoprice, having bought an HDMI cable for my ps3, a Sansa MP3 docking/charging, and I'm about to place an order for a long VGA cable and a powered VGA splitter. It's cheaper than b&m retailers, and I dont like the idea mining for a cheaper price, usually found on some shady looking website, and having some unreliable service from them.

I bought a textbook on the cheap from a referred site from Amazon. I spent $10 shipped, when the book costs $90 in my local college bookstore. I ended up buying the $90 book because the online retailer took 7 weeks to get that book to me.

I'm not an elistist, because if I were, I'd be blowing my money on MonsterCables. I just like the service that I get from monoprice, and if that means I have to spend the extra $1-$3 dollar premium to get it on HDMI, then so be it.

V 1.3 cable is the latest, so you should get those. I suppose any kind of hdmi cable will work. i bought a belkin cable at target for 50 bucks, it works great, but i dont want to pay that much for every cable.
GrilledWitOnions recommended these cables:

IIRC, AWG is basically the thickness of the cable. If you're running a home-theater, your'd want between 12-18 AWG speaker wire. The lower the number, the thicker.

That being said, I've bought my ethernet cables, HDMI cables, and 200 feet of 12 AWG speaker wire from Monoprice, and all is wonderful.

The only minor issue I had with them is when I bought banana plugs. They ended up sending a few packages of "open screw" types, when I wanted (and paid for) closed screw type. They sent replacements the same day I emailed, without wanting/needing the open ones back. They are wonderful.

Most items will have an ETA and for the ones that don't may of recently just went out of stock or they're unsure I assume. An example of this would be:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10831&cs_id=1083105&p_id=4871&seq=1&format=2

It shows "Estimated Time Arrival: 10/9/2009" right under the user satisfation rate (Same place you click to purchase normally). If you're on the multiple listings page, it's located on the right side where you can usually add stuff to your cart.

The sync cables look like they say they come in on 10/03/2009, but I don't know if those are the cables you're looking for. I doubt they're different than the one without the ETA since that one is 3.5ft and the other are at 2 or 6 foot. I can say their notification system works pretty well, but sometimes it takes a little while to restock those ones without a specified ETA.

Looking at this one. (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10831&cs_id=1083101&p_id=3453&seq=1&format=2) I gots a fifth gen iPod video, some 3-4 years old.

ETA is N/A, so I was wondering if there was a general timetable here.

Oh well! Thanks for the heads up!

If you're not opposed to a shipping wait, get one from DealExtreme. I ordered one a few months ago. While it's an obvious knockoff, it works great.

Need 3-6 feet HDMI cable for when I get an HDTV

Take your pick of the HDMI cables they have to offer:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240

Any of the 28 AWG cables would work for your needs. Category 2 is tested for higher speeds, though either one would work. Info about the differences:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Version_1.3

I have numerous of these cables, and they all work like a champ:

Same quality as monster?

shrike4242

Monster Cable is so over-hyped, it's ridiculous. HDMI cables either work or they don't.

Just about every AV cable I have at this point is a Monoprice cable, and I've bought hundreds of dollars of cables from them.

From another post of mine, in the Monoprice thread in the DVD forum:
I've ordered all of the following types of cables from them:

HDMI cables
RCA component cable
RCA composite cables
S-Video cables
TOSLink optical cables
Speaker wire
Banana plugs for speaker wire
USB cables
Ethernet cables
USB extension cables
AC power cables
AC power extension cables

All of them have been solid cables with no issues at all. Shipping has always been reasonably priced and quick. I've been buying from them for years and will keep doing so for years more.

Want the best quality though.
My TV right now was made before I was born - never really showed the difference in quality in cables
But HDTVs show it and its driving me nuts. I want full HD when I get my TV!

Why don't you pick up some cables from Monoprice and see how they work for you? If they don't work out, their cables have a return window on them, as well as a lifetime warranty.

If I purchased the same cables as Monster Cable cables from other vendors for what I paid from Monoprice, I'd have paid thousands for what I've paid hundreds for.

I planned on ordering one 50ft ethernet cable (cat5e straight) but the S&H (to my zip) is actually more than the cable itself. It'd be better if I actually needed like 10+ cables but not sure if it's worth it for just one especially if I can get elsewhere. so any other sites with decent quality cables for decent prices (preferably closer to the East Coast)?

If you shop around, you'll probably find that the Monoprice cable is still cheaper than other places.

I think the *only* time I've seen cheaper prices is possibly on Amazon...or from Amazon sellers. Even then, Monoprice is reliable and ships really quick.

eh I'll probably end up ordering anyway but should probably get some other cables while I'm at it.

I'm trying to find some universal game system component cables since my monitor lacks the normal RBW plus. the main systems I want in component are GCN and PS2 but monoprice doesn't have that

edit:
ended up ordering 50ft cat5e and the cheapest hdmi cable I saw. really wanted to find a component for PS2/GCN.

May I ask a noob question: Whats the deal with the Xbox 360 system specific crossover cable for system link? Ive never even heard of that. Couldn't you just use regular old Cat5 for system link? Whats the benefit of this "crossover cable"?
Indulge me, I really haven't the slightest clue.

GCN component cables are extremely hard to find because I don't think a third party ever made them, and because nintendo dropped the digital out port on the GC they didn't make too many and thus they are very rare.

For the crossover cable, if you're connecting two system sdirect to each other (not through a hub or switch) you need to use a crossover cable. Basically the cable flips the listening and sending pin wires between the ends, so the send pin on one end becomes the listen pin on the other end. Otherwise you will send info to the other systems send pin and it won't be able to recurve it. The part I'm not sure about is that many networking chips have the ability to auto-detect if a crossover or plain (called a patch cable) is being used and can just reverse what pin it sends/listens on to accomodate. At least my laptop 5 years ago did. So I imagine that most network chipsets can do this nowadays?

My question is does or did monoprice sell right angle converters? I swear I was looking one day not too long ago and found they had right angle adapters for things like hdmi, toslink, and RCA. But when I went a couple days ago to order I looked all over and could only find the hdmi ones. Am I seeing things or did they take away those items like a week ago?

Has anyone here had any experience using a 40 ft or longer HDMI cable to hook their PS3 to their TV. Was thinking of using this one but didn't know if there would be signal drop off over a certain length.

I don't have expereince with 40ft
But I use 20ft just fine. I highly doubt their would be much if any noticable signal loss.
(It may be detected with software but probably not the human eye)

Just wanted to post. I have ordered a lot more cables from mono price over the past few weeks.
And each time they have been the cheapest and also the fastest shipping around.
Amazon sometimes can beat or equal their prices during certain promotional sales (if you have prime of if they happen to have free shipping on the cables)
But pretty much everytime I needed a cable I would hit different sites and monoprice was always best at the time that i needed to have cables shipped.

Also I just go ahead and order 2 or 3 of the same cables to offset the shipping. I have a big box of cables for all kinds of things. Its really handy.

Most of your question was already answered above.
But also, If your bored and have some cat 5cables laying around you can go ahead and easily make your own crossovercable by simple re aligning one end of the cat 5 cable thus creating a crossover cable for the 360 direct connect usage.

So this happened in March, and I just got something in the mail from Monoprice about it this week. I had some fraudulent charges show up on my check card a few weeks ago, and now I'm almost positive this is why.

It's a shame, too. Those were some ridiculously cheap cables.

Anyone have any experience with Monoprice wall mounts? I'm debating between getting one of these:

ID 3725 - http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082806&p_id=3725&seq=1&format=2

ID 5920 - http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082806&p_id=5920&seq=1&format=2

3725 has a lot more reviews but 5920 seems to be more feature rich (90 degree swivel as opposed to 60 degree).

Anyone used either?

Has this been resolved as of yet? I hear nice things from monoprice other than this hack. Im thinking this only applied to customers before the hack and not after. I hope this is the case because I have never ordered from monoprice but im looking to buy a cable from them. Any more info on this is much appreciated.

I'm usually the most skeptical person when it comes to buying "cheap" electronics when they usually come for $50+. I bought an HDMI cable from Monoprice for like.. $5 total after shipping. Strongly recommended, and for the skeptical, trust me, I'm the same way. But this place saved me a ton.

Does anyone know when monoprice is going to restock the iPod 30 pin dock connector cable, I want to buy one or 2 but I can't find it on their site. I know they had it before, are they going to restock this item or did they stop carrying it totally?

Did the same (bought a cable for yet-to-be purchased 360) as a well as a spare for my new HD monitor, assuming I can get the right cable box. I guess we'll see how it goes!

Anybody order these cables from Amazon sellers?
