Glad they're matching it, if you don't have the original this is a must buy. Worth considering if you have the original release and care about special features...

Picked it up @ BB on Sunday along with Bolt. Should have known Amazon would PM later in the week.

I haven't been keeping track of this Bond title so am clueless on what extras I'd be missing if I bought this version.

couldn't find the edit on my post, but just noticed the 'Format' on the Amazon page states it is in VHS :D i find that ... intriguing...

This is the better version, with different audio and more extras. The first version was missing, well, what I just mentioned.

did anyone else notice that the format at the top lists it as "VHS", kind of interesting... but mostly funny...

Even though this is a 2 disk blu-ray, Best Buy did let me buy this and QoS and get the $10 off, bringing the total to $36 for QoS and Casino Royal Collectors Edition on blu-ray. It's a little YMMV, but it's worth a shot if you want both on blu-ray.

Did they both ring up with the promotion or did a manager have to override?

They did have to do an override, which is why it's YMMV. But they are all grouped together in the add, so I would expect that many managers would do it. And if you dont mind not having the bonus features, their should be no problem whatsoever getting the original release of Casino Royal on blu-ray, since it is a single disk.

This is a great deal for a 2 disc blu ray of a great movie. However, in response to the dual deal of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, I feel the extra 16 dollars spent on that misconceived sequel is a waste. Simply my opinion, but thanks for the tip icedragon, and gracis for the deal blip http://legaldocresource.com/forms/img/3472/c09y0318ctnw/pixel.gif

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, QoS was the blu that I bought with Casino Royal, but it wasnt the only one available for the promotion. All of the 007 blu-rays were part of the deal. So you could get a second blu for $15 more out of any thatr are out on blu-ray.

The audio is slightly better on the rerelease fyi.

I was really disappointed after watching the movie on my PS3. I wasn't entertained as much compared to the other bond movies.

No it's not. This release has 16bit TrueHD the original had 16bit PCM, if you do a side by side comparison there's no difference.

Is there a big noticeable difference between 16 bit and 24 bit? Is it a big enough difference to justify buying the damn thing?

Depends on the quality of your sound set-up and how much of an audiophile you are. High end speakers? Have a good ear? Then absolutely...

Aren't the deleted scenes only on the 2-disc set?

I've been wanting this for a while now as I've never owned the movie before. Thanks Blips!

Yes, deleted scenes, commentary, and most of the documentaries are only on the 2 disc set.

Understandable, since they decided to reboot the series with this one and make bond more believable. I myself prefer the older bond movies since i grew up with those. Hopefully they go back to that someday.

The upcoming Bond movie seems to be interesting to me. Freida will be the next Bond girl and I loved her in Slumdog Millionaire. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

There are a million silly Bond movies already. I don't know why you'd want them to devolve back to that...

Easy, because both of the Craig movies are like the BOURNE films more than the old Bond movies. A mix of both would be preferable, I found QUANTUM too serious and way too much like a BOURNE movie for my liking. They need, at least a little bit, to go back to what the franchise is -- you might think they were "silly," but they were entertaining and sustained themselves for over 30 years. If the Craig movies keep going on this cold/serious direction, you will see a drop off beginning with the next installment IMO, because QUANTUM really didn't do the job for a lot of fans.

I'm a fan of both the old Bond movies and the Bourne franchise. I have greatly enjoyed both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. My father (who turned me onto Bond at a young age) and I were both very, very unsure about Craig and where it appeared they were taking the franchise. But I have really liked both films and can't wait for the next one.

That's just my two cents.

To me it's like the step up from the old Batman movies to the new ones. The first two old movies were fine, and then 2 bad ones... That's very much like the old Bond movies, which were hit and miss. Then they decided to make Batman realistic and do it with artistic integrity and it worked wonders. The same can be said for Casino Royale. It's a shame that Quantum didn't have as strong a script, though.
