I'm disappointed, Geo. A buddy of mine found books 1-10 of Hubbard's "Mission Earth" series in the "free to take" section of the Slave Lake, Alberta library while we were working up there last summer. I still have book six, "Death Quest".

I've only read the first chapter or two, but apparently, psychiatrists have turned all the women on earth into lesbians, and the only way to cure them is for the main character to have sex with them repeatedly.

Immortality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immortality), the belief people will not die.
Pretty sure I can prove their beliefs wrong right there. Gimme a good knife, let's go find their camp.

The covers of Mission Earth were much better than the books. I read....the whole series. There were a couple good ones in the series, but by about book 6 or 7 I was more than ready for it to be over. It was definitely pulpy, in the bad way.
For as enlightened as LRon was supposed to be, he sure was backward in some regards -- Masters of Sleep and Slaves of Sleep were pretty darn offensive in some regards.
There are actually some decent concepts in the "philosophy" of Dianetics and Scientology, but it does get just bit wacky (and expensive.)
In high school I went to a Church of Scientology and took (and failed) their test. I am *still* getting snail mail and phone calls at my old address/phone number. (I'll be approaching my 20 year reunion before too long.)

When given the choice between immortality and "the Earth is hollow and we're all living on the inside", you go with immortality as the weirder/easier to disprove belief?

Listen to a few of his speeches and you'll quickly see he wasn't at all enlightened. He also lifted all his spiritual elements from other religions (eg. The way to Happiness . . .etc.). Other than OTIII pretty much everything is an appropriation of something else. The space opera is all him though.

Yes. Bullets are cheaper/easier to use, so are knives. I'm not a man of science, and violence solves everything, haven't you played a video game before? If your enemy still twitches, shoot em again, then teabag.
