It really isn't.
Resistance 2 is the only game that's beat Halo in terms of overratedness. It's entirely playable but blander than an unseasoned crisp.
Only play if:
a) You love the genre and I mean really motherfucking love the genre. Like, more than oxygen.
b) You have played every shooter ever made on PS3 and PS2
c) You find a copy on the street alongside a PS3 with a sign saying "FREE PS3 + game" -- you also have no money to buy another game.

The co-op is supposed to be great by all accounts, except it can be difficult to find friends to play it with (at least in my case, since my PS3 friends list is barren.)
