I picked up Super Android 13/Bojack Blu Ray the other day for $15.99 and now it's on sale for even more than that, hah.
Tempted to buy GT for the collection, even though it sucks the big one.

Mind sharing where you're seeing season sets selling for $18, because FYE and Best Buy are charging more than what Amazon sells these sets normally for?
Either way, not interested in the season sets. The cropping and inconsistent remastering between each set bugs the hell out of me. Might be interested in GT and the movies, though. If only just to have GT entirely subbed, as well as the dub keeping the original music.
Now if only Amazon could run some deals on One Piece DVDs.

I noticed those prices (for Blu-Ray, at least) a couple of weeks ago. It lasted for 1-2 weeks before it went back up and then dropped back down to 50% off yesterday.

I think he's saying that if these sets were 50% off what they usually sell for, then they would be $18 instead of $25.

Amazon is saying 50% off MSRP which is $25. Why don't you do a quick search on dvdpricesearch.com, the highest price for season 8 is $35.99 at best buy (36 / 2 = 18), no one sells for $50, even amazon is listed on dvdpricesearch.com as selling it for $34.99. So they should have advertised more like 10 bucks off instead of jacking up to MSRP and then giving 50% off.
BTW 3 of these seasons (1, 2, & 3) I have gotten from best buy for $8 and one for $19.99 (4) due to their mispricing.

I will probably pick up the movies atleast. I need season 8 and the GT seasons, but it is cheaper elsewhere.

In all fairness, the "remastering" has supposedly reached decent quality since season six onwards (and beyond that, while the cropping is irritating, it's only a small amount more than the zoomed in video of the old FUNi singles).
I totally agree on wanting cheap One Piece DVDs, though. Hell, I'd suffer through a crappy live action adaptation if that's what it takes for Amazon to lower prices.
---
It's worth noting that last summer, they had the first four season sets for $20 and some change. This is a good price though. The only place your going to find any of them cheaper is Walmart, where they have season one for $19.99.
I am considering picking up GT, though, if only because the old FUNi singles make me vomit now that I can notice macroblocking... And the GT TV Special is one of my favorite parts of the franchise.

Agreed. It was a nice break from the usual in the series. Granted, Jr. felt like a what-if had Gohan never underdone Piccolo's training, but it was still Dragon Ball-ish and a really nice change in pace.

Please tell me you're kidding, it was even worse than the actual gt episodes, which were pretty bad.

i agree with you anubis, the GT was good but that new gogeta was ridiculous. i'm gonna go ahead and say it is like most other series and should have stopped after it got good http://legaldocresource.com/forms/img/3552/c09y0318ctnw/pixel.gif

anywhere to get a good deal on the 3pack of broly steelbook?

04-07-2009, 12:56 AM
I'm not too interested...If it were half of the posted "sale" prices, I'd be more intrigued. Not that this is a bad deal, it's just hard to impress me. Especially when the sale's happening in celebration of an insult to the Dragonball Saga. Whatever though, I'll step off of my soap-box and say this...
Thanks OP for the work in locating this sale, it's definitely good, just not for me. Thank you.

fucking UPS, i check my tracking for my bojack DBZ blu-ray and it says undeliverable. They damaged it so much that they chose not to even try to deliver. I used to work at Fedex, usually if the outer packing is damaged they switch it out but when the contents itself are so fucked up, they don't even want the customer to see it. Amazon is shipping out a replacement overnight today.

If the Z season sets weren't cropped all to shit I'd love to finally be able to own the first season uncut. Looks like I'll have to wait until Draognball Kai is released over here.

Dragonball Kai sounds great. I don't mind the cropping if it makes for a better widescreen picture, which it largely seems to. Sure hope it comes to Blu-Ray at a reasonable price.

Dragonball Kai is pretty irrelevant right now seeing as you can't purchase it. Its looking great because its being remastered without funimations BS cropping but who knows if it will ever be brought over here. Funimation will have to finish fucking up the rest of Z first.

That reminds me, I saw Dragonball Evolution last night and it was surprisingly good. I think people who can't handle changes will hate it, but if you accept that a lot is different, you'll be surprised at what they actually kept the same. Bulma's family still runs the Capsule Corporation and she can produce vehicles from capsules, for instance. :)
