What games would you recommend?

8 year old who just got a Gamecube less than a year ago and has bought minimal games.

Her mom will be giving her a wii this Sunday.

What games would you recommend?
Thanks in advance!

My niece likes Animal Crossing: City Folk. Newegg has it for $29.99 for just the game. Animal Crossing w/Wii Speak Bundle is $39.99. Shipping is free.

Most people love Mario Galaxy. Mario Kart is also good.

Is she into anything specifically?

I heard Boom Blox was a great kid's game and Wario Ware might be a hit-or-miss, but honestly, the bundled wii games should be enough to keep her occupied for a while.

Also, I don't want to sound bigoted or misogynistic, but how about Cooking Mama? I heard it was all the rage in the young-girl demographics in japan, so she might enjoy something like that.

I have a sealed Kirby Air Ride for Gamecube (which can also be played on Wii). Great kids game; easy, fun, cute. PM if interested.

Madworld ...... I kid I kid

Mario galaxy, and de Blob are the only games I have played that I would suggest.

I have heard good things about Boom Blox but have not bought it yet.

My 2 boys (11 and 7) love Animal Crossing, so another vote for that one. They also like Super Smash Bros. and Dokapon Kingdom. If she's into sports, you might look into the Mario sports games.

Another suggestion for Animal Crossing, and it is on sale.

Okami, $20-25ish. Beautiful game, lots of fun. Might be a little bit too mature for her; has some alcohol references (in context, considering it's based on Japanese mythology), fighting (mostly against demons), and iirc some jokes involving breasts, but probably not any worse than stuff she alread watches.

Lego Star Wars, $20, basically two games in one, upgraded for Wii. Tons of value in there, very kid friendly.

Blast Works, also in the $20 range, the main game is a pretty rough shmup, but has incredibly powerful level/enemy building tools if you think she might like that. Allows you to go online and download levels other people have made. Very underappreciated game, lots of stuff to do and freedom to create, and has an interesting game mechanic, too-- basically, after you shoot down an enemy ship, they will fall out of the sky. If you move your ship under them, they will attach to it, and you use them as armor, as well as gaining their weapons. You can build up very large ships, covering the entire screen this way. Basically, a Katamari Shooter.

Super Paper Mario, probably still above $40. Light platform/puzzle/RPG action. Pretty simple, colourful.

Super Mario Galaxy, enough said.

Couldn't hurt to get a 2000 point Wii Point card either, lots of classics on VC, and there are some very good WiiWare titles as well.
