If you were only allowed just one system your whole life, what one system would it be and why?

For me it would be the Sega Master System because it was my first system that my parents bought and I am a huge Sega fan.

Snes- On the condition they made new games.

If not I would have to say Xbox

PS2 of course, then I could play all the PS2 and PS1 RPGs

xbox, if only cuz it would let me cheat the system by putting emulators on it

If I had access to every game playable for the console, PS2... if I had to pick just on of my own, SNES.

Either the Playstation 10 or the Gamecube 8. Now if you are talking about current generation or older, definately SNES

09-20-2004, 02:26 PM
this is a tough one...nes, gameboy, or ps2.

nes for the amazingly simplistic games. gameboy for a ton of reasons and its massive library, and ps2 for all the ps1 and ps2 games (i have over 300 for the two combined)

could i have a ps2 and a nintendo ds with a flash cart? ^^

If there was no backwards compatibility, it would be a PSOne, but since a PS2 covers both generations, it would be the obvious choice.

Playstation 14 because then I also could play all the games from Playstations 1 through 13 (excluding the primitive Playstation 5 games that were just introducing mind control into the gameplay and the generally inferior quality of full immersion RPGs on the Playstation 11)

PS2 because of the game library. Otherwise I would pick the xbox.

Wholy shit... this is a tough question. Maybe N64 since it's got two of my favorite games of all time on it, but PS2 is also extremely close. Maybe I'll just go with daphatty's Idea and stick with emulators, but buy a controller for my PC to enjoy it.

GuilewasNK
09-20-2004, 03:31 PM
Ya, I agree Daphatty has the right idea with the PC...

But if I had to chose one, it would be PS2 mainly because of the backwards compatibility with the PS One.

Indiana

I guess PS2. I don't own one but I had to get a GC and Xbox in order to get the variety of games I wanted. PS2s library is damn large so I guess it would keep me busy enough. I would miss my GC and Xbox though.

hiccupleftovers
09-20-2004, 04:07 PM
Yup, I think daphatty's idea is pretty good with the PC and emulators, but if it had to be one true console than it would have to be either the PS2 or the GCN. I'd choose the PS2 like everyone said, because of its backwards compatability with the PS1. The reason I say Gamecube is because of the fact ytou have great products from Nintendo and the Gamecube's full library of games and with the game boy player, it adds the entire library of Game Boy games, which I think is about 1200.

PS2, because there are tons of games for it and Ps1 and just playing the RPGS would take a LONG time

i'd want the system that plays all system so from daphatty's idea of a pc is the closest .. but ps2 takes it for me since they have more games than my lovely gc :(

Theenternal
09-20-2004, 04:29 PM
if no one said pc yet..and if that counts..then pc.. if not xbox for the same reason as someon else mentioned. For the emu possiblities...snes,limited mame, neo geo, etc, plus dvd/mp3, divx :)

Hmm well let's see the Ps2 automatically renders the Ps1 useless. Then between NES, SNES, the N64 and GC... hmm gotta eliminate the NES because I still play mine from time to time and it's just more of a novelty at this point. I have a lot of N64 games, but a lot of them are bad, so that's gotta go. My favorite cube game is Gladius, but you can play that on the Ps2, so it's really down to the SNES and Ps2. I could take the cop-out with the PC, but since the OP said system I think... yes very tricky. Well most of my favorite SNES games, aside from Secret of Mana and Super Punch-Out were remade for the Ps1... so ultimately I've gotta go with the Ps2, as much as it pains me to not pick a Nintendo product.

Sticking within the console realm and only official published software but including imports I'd have to say PS2. Not out of any great love of that particular hardware but for its immense library plus PSone library plus vast numbers of revived classics from previous systems. There is simply no competition in temrs of software selection.

Agree'd. PC can emulate NES, SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast, PSX, N64, and a lot more. It's like 50-in-1.

The PC is tempting, especially if an internet connection is included...

I'd have to go with the GBA. Plenty of games with lots of replay (Pokémon anything, Advance Wars), ports of classics (Mario Advance series and the NES games), and something over 1,000 games in the library if all of the GB and GBC titles are included.

PS2 cuz right now there are an ass load of games that i have to finish/want to play. Given one system and all the games i wanted right now: it would be PS2 hands down.

A mega super computer that had the capability of running 10 doom 3 process with max settings all at once. There are computers like that being manufactured now for US military purposes. One of those and an OC 24 Internet connection. Than I could download roms for the PS9 and play them with no graphical slowdown.

for me it would have to be a PC with a 1TB HD filled with all the games i could think of.

if i had to choose a console, then xbox all the way. really easy to mod, and since there's about 5 GB's of unused space on my stock xbox HD, i could fill that with some stuff ;)

Easy. The Dreamcast.

It had excellent games in every genre. Plus, I'd be able to surf the internet with it. That's one thing that still puts it over the rest of the consoles out there.

It would have to be the Ps1 because of all the RPG's
