ok now on netflix i know you can get up to 3 dvds at a time, but whatabout box sets? if i got a family guy box would that count as 3 or 1?? what about star trek boxes that are 7 or 8 discs? how does it work?
thanks!

Each disk counts as one disk out. It adds each disk to your queue individually, so your rental queue looks like:
Family Guy, season 1, disk 1
Family Guy, season 1, disk 2
ect.

Not with the 3 out-at-time plan. You can get higher plans that allows you to have more movies out, but they are more expensive.

In addition, if you get a movie like Star Wars phantom menace, which has the movies on one disc and the extra's on another. You gotta rent the extra's disc :(.

Is that Netflix or BB.com? I've noticed that BB doesn't even send you the extra disc and I dont think you have the option to rent it either.

Netflix
But if you happen to have a BB by you punq, they do the deal in store too. So you can rent more movies through BB, but then you have to make a trip. Mine is is just by my house, I was planning on exploiting it during the summer for a month. But school got in the way :(

I have to say I'm a Netflix fan. The service is excellent and the selection is incredible. Pretty much anything you want. Well, besides porn.

Joe Schmo, I watched the first one religously :). No, online BB may. In store they carry the big name box sets, Sopranos, Sex and the City, Family guy..etc. However im not sure if for all those you rent each one seperately or get a few, or the set. I think its dependent on the store and the box set. The one good thing is that if a CE of a dvd comes out.."well they are all called that now" But if a good set came out with several bonus discs I know you get those with your rental too.

As people have already mentioned, if a TV show set has five discs, you rent each one separetely and each one counts towards your maximum of three that can be in your possesion.
I get great turnaround time with them so it is not a problem. I can put a disc in the mail and get a new one 2 days later. I just finished The Apprentice Season 1 -- awesome show!
I think Netflix is a great way to watch the TV show sets, at least the ones you want to watch, but don't need to own. They have almost everything that is available.

Also, I think this is how the B&M Blockbusters work as well. I remember seeing the first season of Sopranos, and each disc was a separate rental.
