Honestly, pick up God Hand instead.

It's cheaper, it's better....and it's in color.8-)

It was fun, the mechanic is somewhat shallow (there are only so many times you can throw a guy into a wall full of spikes after stabbing him with a street sign and trapping him with a tire), but the bosses are interesting encounters and it kept me playing for about 8 hours total. I don't know your situation, but that was a fine length of time for me. I would say rent it if you are unsure or put off by the games length, but I do not regret the purchase.

Wait till it hits $20. Its a six hour game, its ok but nothing great.

I've enjoyed it so far and I'm on my second play through. Took about 7 hours the first time and I'm about 4 hours in again. Plus I'll probably let a one or two buddies borrow it to get the dust out of their Wii, so for me it was a great purchase, even if just to spread the fun.

Depends. What is your budget like? What kind of games do you enjoy?
Does a great 8-hour beat'em up with some sick humor and beautiful graphics sound worth the current asking price? For me, not really... but only because the genre isn't a big draw and have a very limited game budget. If money wasn't a big deal for me, it would be a buy. When the game drops to $30, I'll probably pick it up.
Oh, and I disagree that God Hand is a better purchase. MadWorld feels much more polished and playable in my opinion, although the games do have some similarities.

This is pretty accurate. I only made it through half the game though before I returned it. A bit too redundant for my tastes.

I agree that the game may not be for everyone, but if this description sounds good to you, then yes - it's definitely worth $20-$30. I don't have a lot of long stretches of time to play games, so I really appreciate mindless games right now. And the game is beautiful. If you're just curious but are not drawn to a "brawler" game then you're probably better off renting.
I loved God Hand and also disagree that it is a better purchase. The only thing having color does is make it muddy and have less flair than Madworld.

I was just putting a little extra on the top with the "in color" bit, but honestly, MadWorld bored the SHIT outta me. And it's not because i'ts black and white either. God Hand just clicked with me a whole lot more on a whole lot of different levels. God Hand keeps me coming back for more...and I can't say that for MadWorld.

I was completely enthralled on the first play through, loved it. But I'm not one to hold onto my games so now I'm looking to trade it for Overkill instead with a fellow CAG. So, is it worth the buy? It depends, do you enjoy god of war/devil may cry and crude humor all coated artistically in a sin city art style? If yes, you'll like it. If you think Ninja Gaiden/Sigma is one of the best action games, then you may not. These games are kinda how i gauge the depth of action games, with ninja gaiden being seriously more strategic and involving then the other two.

I wouldn't say it's short, because it doesn't have much filler. The total play time is deceptive, because it is a very tight 6 hours (on normal difficulty). Many other games have longer times to beat, but alot of those game are wasting your time.
Time wasting in videogames is usually rewarded by some bizarre dollar per entertainment hour index people have in their heads.
