Does anyone know how to do this? What programs would I need? Since this is CAG are there any free programs that are good?

You can get Rivet 2.0.2, or MediaLink. Either one should work fine, but they both cost ~20$.

Additionally there is PS3mediaserver, which is free, so that's a definite plus. Sadly I never found it when I first got my mac, so I have only used MediaLink (it works fine for me) but I cant comment on Rivet or PS3mediaserver.

I use MediaLink which isn't free but works pretty well. It streams flawlessly with my Linksys router. However, I'm just as likely to merely copy video content over to the PS3 HDD. I just feel more comfortable doing it that way rather than having to makeu my Mac is awake.
On note, I used to have a pretty old D-Link router. Streaming with MediaLink was unrelaiable if not impossible with that router.

I bought Nullriver and it was great.
Then PS3 Media Server came out and now I can stream .mkv files in 1080p. So yeah, it's awesome.
