What Monster Hunter game is the best?

I'd say the original PS2 Monster Hunter, but the servers are all gone so without the Online play you'll miss the experience. Unless you can understand Japanese then maybe Monster Hunter G? I hate all the PSP Monster Hunters though.

As a fan of Phantasy Star Universe/Online/Portable, how similar is it to Monster Hunter? I heard MH is a more hardcore version of PSO. Is that accurate?

Phantasy star is more of a level up fest, while Monster hunter is more like a skill based and well planning type of game with no leveling up.

I've played both extensively and have to say MH is more interesting and will suck more hours of your life away in a good sense.

I had both MH1 & 2 and PS2 version. I looking forward MH3 & remake version for US version. Still waiting new MH for PSP hit the US :)

Kinda getting bored 1st 30 mins - 1 hour... when you get hook you don't wanna turn off the power :)

Yeah I have to agree... the first 2 hours feel like a drag, but after that you won't want to stop playing.
