What is Adventure 2600?
Adventure 2600 is a classic Atari 2600 game (1979), in which players take the role of a Hero who must travel the large, dangerous overworld, collecting items, exploring castles and dungeons, and defeating Dragons in order to retrieve the Golden Chalice - and return the Chalice back home to his Castle alive. The game was highly popular during its generation, and stands as a sort of precursor to the Legend of Zelda games.
Sounds good, what's being done for the game in this Remake?
The remake will stay as true to the original as possible, while also incorporating some modern niceties. Such niceties include:
- upgraded, "16-bit" like graphics
- actual sound effects (rather than just beeps/boops)
- ambient, mood-setting sounds for each special area
- a more convenient Front End and user interface
- windowed mode, full screen mode
- music
- and whatever else important that I can think of to add without straying too far from the original

If you wish to use a GamePad, I suggest downloading the freeware app called Joy2Key:
Download Joy2Key Here (http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm)
And Bind the Space bar and R keys to face buttons, bind the Enter key to a Start button, and bind the Arrow Keys to a directional Pad or analog stick.
Tribulations
Aside from the confusing maze-like terrain of the Kingdom, and the impenetrable Darkness of the Forest and Catacombs, three Dragons stand in your way to eat you; unless you are properly armed with a Sword.
http://slashx.googlepages.com/batty.jpg/batty-medium;init:.jpg
The Bat flies around, stealing items, trading items, moving items. Just as you're about to unlock the next Castle, it might swoop in and steal your Key from your hands.
Use Your Items
http://slashx.googlepages.com/items.jpg/items-medium;init:.jpg
You've got to use the Items available to you to best achieve your goal. Use the Sword to slay/chase off Dragons. Use the Bridge to cross gaps or over walls that you cannot otherwise. Use the Magnet to retrieve Items from inaccessible areas.
Quests
The game is split up into 3 Quests. Quest 1 is essentially a Training Quest. It is short, and doesn't pit the Bat or the Red Dragon against you. The Kingdom is small and the items and Chalice are not far away.
The Second Quest opens up the rest of the Kingdom; and also exposes you to the Bat and Red Dragon. With the rest of the Kingdom comes the rest of the items; and the challenge of finding and using the items. The Bat will start to fly around, moving and stealing Items.
Quest 3 is the same as Quest 2, except, with all of the Item locations Randomized each time you play. It's a great way to add challenge and replay value once you've mastered Quest 2!
Use your wits! Strategize! Think about how to best use the Sword against the Dragons. Think about ways to deal with the Bat so that it doesn't mess up your progress!
Find the Chalice and get it back!
