View Full Version : What good Xbox exclusives are upcoming?

This is just kind of weird to me, because for the first time since 2005, I'm not aware of any Xbox exclusives I care about coming up. Prior to '08, I thought the Xbox had a better library than the Playstation. Last year I thought it was pretty equal, and there were great exclusives I wanted on both. Now, for the first time, I'm not aware of anything.

Actually this may be a good thing, because it may mean we're going to get surprised at E3 (for once)!

I'm guessing Rare will have a pare of games announced, at least one of which I'll want. So....there'll hopefully be some stuff.

I am a little disheartened by how Microsoft canned Ensemble-one of the two best RTS developers around IMO, and ignored the Freelancer guys, etc., but still...

(And I'm sorry, I still like Rare even if I don't care about half their games-at least they're doing stuff that's totally different from everyone else!)

Alan Wake
Halo 3: ODST
Mass Effect 2

There's a few I'm missing. As this gen goes on, there will be less and less exclusives. Look at sony, xbox grabbed FF13, and Tekken 6. It's going to get worse.

That said, wait for E3. I'm sure there will be a few surprises.

Ooooh, I forgot about Alan Wake! I'm really looking forward to that. It sounds awesome.

I don't care about Halo though, and Mass Effect 2 isn't exclusive.

Looks like Splinter Cell: Conviction will hit by X-Mas...or so we're told ;)

Other than the ones already mentioned there's...nothing. Hope this years E3 is good.

Since when is Mass Effect not exclusive? I thought MS locked them into xbox like they did KOTOR. Anyway Im glad about no exlusives (even though I own xbox and ps3) just cause its better in general. More people playing a game is better than not. I can only see it being better if your a fanboy wanting to brag.

It's on the PC, but that doesn't really count IMO. It's exclusive on consoles.

Yea PC ports dont count just because they are more of an afterthought than anything else. Unless its the other way around and PC game is gettiing ported. Its like the Wii you really cant compare how it works to other systems.

Whoa...seriously? I had no idea the next Splinter Cell was exclusive. That's huge, and surprising nowadays. I mean...well all of them have hit like 40 platforms.

AFAIK Mass Effect 2 is at best a timed exclusive. I didn't even realize that until Googling it just now. That's less surprising to me than Splinter Cell though, given that Microsoft may have some stake in the name, or something.

If either of those end up exclusives though for real, they'll be huge. I'd buy a $400 console just to play Mass Effect. Such an awesome game.

Hmmm Splinter Cell is a surprise to be an exlusive but it was an exclusive to the original xbox for the longest time being the MGS subsitute that fans wanted.

Really? I thought everyone knew...it was announced 2-3 years ago at E3.

Yeah, with the original though they couldn't really do it right on the Gamecube/PS2. Weirdly, the thing that wrecked it most was the lack of a save anywhere feature.

And honestly, I'd be just fine if future games looked and played just like Chaos Theory, but with new stories. I don't really need some grand reinvention of it-that was already plenty good enough for me. (Not that I'm not curious about what they've done.)

(EDIT: I actually played it on my 360...at...uh...a location I wasn't supposed to ;) )

As an exclusive? If it was, it's still a shock that it really is exclusive (if it really is). I can't think of any other examples of that from Ubisoft. Even still, I'm thinking "timed exclusives", but even that is surprising.

EDIT: I suppose it does let them concentrate more heavily on one platform or the other though if a team does one, and then another team has to take it and port it. The two systems are so different in some ways.

Pfft, you guys are asses :bomb:

OP makes a good point though, I can't think of any that haven't been named.

Microsoft doesn't like to announce games too far down, which is one reason we have nothing to go on except the ones I mentioned.

Sony is a little different. They do have a stronger line up so far, but come back after June 1st and I'm sure it will be close.

Mass Effect trilogy will most likely remain an 360/pc exclusive. I could be wrong, but if they are willing to dish out 50 mill to keep DLC for GTA IV exclusive... I'm sure they are willing to pay for Mass Effect.

Last year had a ton of good exclusives, hopefully this year can live up to the last.

I've heard of rumors of a new Killer Instinct and Perfect Dark Zero (sequel)...which we'll supposed to hear about come E3.

I may take time off that week...I hate being at work and not being able to check out the conferences and download demos, videos...etc.

Lost Planet 2 is also at the very least a timed exclusive. I have never played the original but I'm not sure it's all that "good" so maybe it doesn't fit the description of the thread.

The Mass Effect port wasn't really an afterthought. They changed the inventory system and improved combat, IIRC.

Mass Effect 2Is there a release date yet for Alan Wake? Even something inexact like Q4 2009?

Didn't know that was going to be a timed exclusive either. Personally I don't count those, though some might.

I've owned but haven't played the full game yet, but I loved the demo. Looked and played really amazing.

Soooo it sounds like Microsoft is really paying for a lot of timed exclusives. I can't say its a bad strategy. I wonder why Sony doesn't? Or is it just that Microsoft's canned most development, and is just buying exclusives, while Sony's canned that, and is mostly focusing on development now?

Well, at any rate I'd forgotten about Alan Wake, so between that and Rare's stuff, of which I'm sure I'll want at least one of their announced games...

Forza 3 will be announced at or before E3 for a fall 2009 release.

Yeah, I can't play those. Even for free I try a lap and then trade them in (I got one of those types of games free with one of my 360s).

Last racing game I liked was Ridge Racers on the PSP, and before than Ridge Racer Type 4 and Diddy Kong Racing on the PS1/N64, and before that, F-Zero...and that might be the entirety of racing games I've liked
