Hi,

On a recent auction I had for Resident Evil 2: DS edition for the PS1. Played it quite a bit before I sent it out and thought that was that.

Got a message today from the buyer saying

"Hi. i received the game today but there is a problem. Clairs CD (disc 2) is cracked and is unusable. Also the back case of the cd case has a hit that craked the case from the outside and inside. so, what sould we do about this sitution?"

It definitely wasn't like that when I sent it out - especially since I spent most of the time playing disc 2 before I sent it out.

It appears the Post Office did a massive elbow drop on the package broke the case and cracked the disc.

I mailed out the game wrapped in a few layers of plastic and then a bubble mailer. The buyer didn't bother getting the optional insurance. I'd rather not be out the roughly 30 dollars but at the same time I understand neither does the buyer - and he didn't go for the insurance that is offered.

What does everyone think I should do. I know paypal and eBay seem to always side with the buyer but I feel kind of stupid just giving back the money that is what the insurance is there for.

Thanks everyone!

As long as you offered insurance and they dident bite you should be good.

Tough call. I'd at least ask for some photographic evidence to back up his claim. Don't just refund the money blindly.

If it is true, I'd be staunch and not refund the money. It sucks that USPS did a shitty job with getting it there in one piece, but you offered the option to insure the item and he opted not to. It's out of your hands once you give it to USPS.

Since you offered the insurance theres really only so much you can do. I mean if USPS elbow dropped on the package, even if it was insured, still would have been a bitch to deal with, and he probably would have wanted you to handle it too, so consider yourself absolved of all responsibility.

Unfortunately, even though you offered insurance and the buyer didn't take it, ebay still considers it the seller's responsibility to get the item to the buyer as described in the auction. Thus, any problems with the post office are the seller's issue, not the buyer's. It sucks donkey balls, but not much you can do. I would ask the seller to send the game back and refund them + the cost of shipping it back.
