I use the same system. I picked up a few things myself early on, because I wanted to make sure I got them and 50% is nice as is. But not having infinite amounts of cash, that 70-80% range looks awful sweet. AND, by then my fellow comic and toy fans will have made it easier for me by narrowing down the selection.

I seem to remember last year they added in the the nick and dent at some point, that would be a good refresh of titles for a higher percentage. There are still piles of things I want there, regardless. Almost bit on some figures, but its hard to reconcile one figure for the cost of a great graphic novel.

If it helps at all, the selection and prices on graphic novels for the in-store TFAW clearance sale (that Andrew was giving us the heads-up about) on Saturday morning were bested by the sale on the website right now. The 90% off of Minimates and Vs cards was a wonder to beholded (beheld?). But they were gone within a half hour of the store opening. Glad he warned us to be there at open. They also had some Transformers and Action Figures 90% off as well. Don't get me wrong. It was awesome. But...

The point is that the website's sale will likely wind up being better for most people than what you were lamenting having missed. Enjoy your Michigan, and its...uh...stuff that Michigan has.

I also have to agree. I ordered 2 books from thier " nick and dent " sale and let me tell you the books looked like they came off the shelf brand new. I cant find one nick or dent. The quality of thier products is great and the shipping is fast. Don't hesitate buy now!

I do have to be the voice of (mild) discontent here. In my last nick & dent order, one of the Concrete volumes I ordered had significant water damage. The book was browned and wavy. But I was able to pry open the pages without doing much more damage to them. I decided not to dispute it because I knew there was a possibility of this happening (plus it was just a few dollars). I've taken my chances many a time and TFAW has done right by me in the past. I'm not happy about what happened with Concrete but I don't expect it'll happen again anytime soon. I just want to put this out there so people are clear about the reality of "nick & dent" items: be prepared for the worst.

From the Nick & Dent page of the TFAW site: "These products have been handled and have minor dings, scratches, and damage to the box or outside cover. The graphic novels are still perfectly good reading copies, and statues and toys inside the boxes are complete"

As I said in a previous TFAW thread, I've ordered more than 20 Nick & Dent TPB's/graphic novels from them during various sales in the past, and the worst that I've had was a pinkie-fingernail sized scuff on the spine of one of the books. Almost all of the rest were in pristine condition (some of the Hardcovers still shrink-wrapped) or very close. Nothing close to water-damage, and I'll be ordering quite a few more if they're still in stock when the discount drops a little more.

Bottom line: If there are some books you want and you're good with the price, I'd order them before they sell out.

With adding stuff as they go, there was quite a bit of good stuff at 80%. For stuff that you really want though, you might want to go sooner rather than later as they may have like 1 copy left. For my order at 60%, 1/2 of my 6 books were sold out after my purchases, so I certainly felt I got them in the nick of time.

When we say minor nicks and dents we mean minor nicks and dents, not water soaked unreadable wavy brown trade paper monstrosities! :D I already gave the service department a heads up so they should be able to send you a suitable replacement copy with no problem.

The site has a wishlist feature, I have about 80 things on the wishlist now for easy cart adding. It worked like a dream for my 60% off order. Just woke up Sunday, logged into my account, went to the wishlist, and added the books I wanted to get for the 60% off. The wishlist also tells you if the item is in stock or not, so you do not have to fumble with searching for items that are sold out but are on your external list. And everything went to the correct percentage fine.

Midnight is indeed the time at which the discount should be changing. Last week's slip up was indeed that, a slip up. Our apologies. This week the time change should be much closer to midnight, there may be a few minutes delay, but it should not be a multi-hour wait again.

Well, I got my 70% off order, most of which consisted of nick and dent items. I'm happy to report that all of the books are in excellent condition. The only one that has any noticeable damage has a couple of pages with the corners torn off. Nothing serious at all and perfectly readable. Everything else looks no different than if I went to my local comic book store and bought it off the shelf.

This was a fantastic sale. I can't wait to receive my order from the 80% off sale. :)

I did give them a call Friday(29th) afternoon and they said that their processing time is usually 2-5 business days but because Monday(25th) was a holiday and the amount of orders they've received because of the sale, it might take a bit longer to process than usual.

Orders are taking a little longer than usual. Please accept our sincere apologies, the sheer volume of orders (particularly on the weekend of the 24th) combined with the holiday, delivered a resounding one-two punch to our shipping department. And if you can believe it they refuse to work 24 hours a day! Despite my generous offer to provide them with semi-clean water and the occasional loaf of moldy bread. Ingrates! ;)

Rest assured that we've been running extra shifts to catch up and it looks like we should shortly have everything out the door. Again, we apologize profusely and can only hope that the sheer volume of awesome, super discounted swag that is soon to find its way to you, will turn those frowns back to smiles. :D

And in regard to the out of order stuff, keep in mind that we're pulling from four warehouse locations, consolidating it in one location, then sending it to all the corners of the world. Sometimes the necessary ingredients for one person's order show up ahead of someone who had ordered previously. Or it just so happens that the items for Order 2 are on hand while items for Order 1 must be consolidated. We'll send them on out as soon as they're available, but rest assured it will all be coming.

1. Yes. That's a publisher error. Bad Marvel, Bad! :D But even the best of us make mistakes and, for the record, Marvel has a really really low error rate. For reals. They've got their act on lock.

2. Get a hold of service in the morning. If we have a correct page order replacement we'll swap you out... if we don't we'll give you a refund. No problem.

I got everything today, the nick and dents looked brand new! This was my first time ordering from you guys and I will order again.
now for a concern, even though I got the free shipping(thanks) I wish I could have been allowed to pay a dollar just to have a usps delivery confirmation tracking number on it, my main reason is I live in a condo complex and my mailman(a-hole) just rings the buzzer and throws the package in the hall. If I wasn`t home today(which I hardly am), it could have been stolen, I wouldn`t have even known it had been delivered if I wasn`t home. I would hope you would offer a usps tracking number in the future as it is not expensive(under $1). other than that it was great service and I highly recommend. once again thanks for great service.

Looks like they are going to replace the book. first email said they weren't responsible, going to pull the rest of the inventory, refund the teeny amount I paid for it, but then a half hour later, they found one!

Shipping soon and it'll be great to replace it. Finally read those missing pages.

Yep! Doublecheck your invoice just to be sure. But if it says hardcovers and you have TPBs, that's an error that should be fixed.

I received both my orders in the last few days and everything is in great condition. The only thing that was even remotely nick & dent was Elektra: The Scorpio Key which has some light wear on the cover. I'm very impressed.

With my order a couple of the nick & dents looked like they where read the spine was creased. 2 of the hard covers where still factory sealed.

Wanted to chime in that I received my order today--17 books, 16 of which were nick and dent, almost all of which came in a condition that I would have been perfectly happy with if I had bought them new from Amazon. I had to check the packing slip to see which ones were nick and dent because I couldn't tell. Here's hoping the next big sale will include some more Vertigo!

I gotta comment on TFAW. I ordered 9 books and a shirt for like 50 bucks shipped, and just like everyone else, I couldn't find one nick of dent anywhere on these books. The only thing I found wrong with one of the books was it looked like it was sprayed with something that dried. A little wipe and it's good as new.

Just updating on the quality of my orders. Ordered around 50 trades overall and most were nick & dent, and I swear I have only seen ONE page inside ONE trade that was a little torn up but still perfectly readable and I hardly even noticed it myself.

Excellent website and will buy from them again, but with so many comics, might be until next years sale. Very pleased with TFAW. Thanks for the info during the sale ANGURA.
