Im looking for something that allows you to talk into a mic and it turns yor words into text. i recall seeing something like that in a tv commercial a year or so ago but i dont remember he name of the product. id also like to find something that lets you record your voice onto your pc as well. any help would be appreciated. it needs to be xp compatible and if possible vista.

You're talking about voice recognition software there. Something like Dragon Naturally Speaking.http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/ I'm sure that there are other alternatives as well, but that is a common one.

It's a little app called Sound Recorder. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Recorder_(Windows) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_Recorder_%28Windows%29)

Agreedm the most popular one is Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, it's xp and vista compatible and $47 on amazon

I don't have any direct experience with it myself

audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is a freeware/open source app for recording and editing sounds, it can also record your voice. it takes a little while to setup correctly but is a great app.

Did you try the Speech Recognition program that comes with Vista? Its in your control panel I believe. I am pretty sure it does what you are looking for. It also lets you open and close programs with speech, etc.
